About Lost in Canvas

Expect picturesque views overlooking the valley below and the quaint town of Lostwithiel whilst you enjoy a peaceful getaway in the Cornish countryside with your loved ones. You'll be just 15 minutes from the Eden Project and sandy beaches yet you can escape the busyness back at your pitch. This small site has just three non electric grass pitches that are suitable for tents only, the pitches are 5m in diameter and dug into the hillside, all with great views of the River Fowey. Campers have access to shared facilities nearby. For those who prefer glamping, there are three cosy bell tents with private bathrooms on offer, each sleeping up to four with a double bed and two single futons for the little ones. Bedding and towels are provided and there are solar-powered plug sockets to keep your devices charged. You'll also have a gas hob, crockery, a kettle and cooking utensils for meals in the open on your fire pit/BBQ. All bell tent guests have access to the fridge/freezer in the log shed. The town of Lostwithiel is a 15 minute walk away or under a five minute drive for the essentials including a train station for those not wanting to travel by car. St Austell Bay is just 15 minutes away for a family day out splashing in the sea and building sand castles. All bell tent guests will be provided with their own fire pit for BBQs and campfires, those camping can hire fire pits when available. Ground fires and BBQs are not permitted. Sorry, this site is pet free.

Facilities and amenities

There is a modern, shared toilet and shower room for campers as well as an outdoor washing up area for all guests. For those glamping, each bell tent has access to a private toilet and shower room.

The bell tents also come with access to a portable gas hob with kitchenware and fridge and freezer space.

The nearest shop is a Co-op in Lostwithiel which is a 15 minute walk and the nearest pub is the Royal Oak Inn which is also in Lostwithiel.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan (30 minutes) is home to a beautiful collection of gardens that until 1990 when the restoration project began. Forgotten due to the outbreak of WW1, there are 200 acres of wildlife, plants and trails to explore. Be sure to visit The Victorian Productive Garden, the Pleasure Grounds and the Jungle!

No visit to Cornwall is complete without a visit to the Eden Project (10 minutes), ideal for any eco warriors in your group! Home to a global garden designed to showcase the natural world, explore one of the largest indoor rainforests or head to the Mediterranean Biome for a different climate!

Polkerris (20 minutes) is a charming seaside village with a small harbour and a family friendly beach. Head in the car with your bucket and spade at the ready! There is also rockpools, paddle boarding opportunities and a lovely beachfront pub for a bite to eat afterwards.
