VW-Type Campervan - Grass PitchesApr 2023

Lovely site. After a day we got used to no signal or Wi-Fi. The first site we've been on that our dog could roam around freely, obviously keeping an eye on him at all times. He loved the freedom. The owners couldn't do enough for us. We lit fires in a pit and a BBQ. We were a couple but there were kids there who were loving the freedom of climbing trees and helping build a fire. Pure freedom for them also.

Site's response

I'm so pleased you enjoyed our site Vanessa. It is a special spot for enjoying nature and the great outdoors. Do come again.

Large Tent - Grass PitchesSep 2022

Just got home after 3 nights away there. Owners are both lovely people, local pub landlady and the locals all are amazing, I definitely recommend for anyone who just need peace and quiet to recharge and unwind.

Beautiful site, would definitely go again

Large Tent - Grass PitchesSep 2022

Beautiful and quiet site. Loads of woods and apple orchards to explore. Very close to Monmouth Town, the River Wye and loads of other attractions like Raglan Castle. Louise and the family were lovely and very helpful and kind. The facilities are modest, but very clean and more than adequate for your needs. Our children 13 and 8 enjoyed the freedom to roam, to pick an Apple off the tree and eat it, and mushroom picking. The biggest hit was the rope swing. Will be booking again x

Lovely place, great group of campers when we got there, shame they all had to go home the following day. Louise is a lovely lady and very helpful. Dogs loved it there too.

Medium Tent - Grass PitchesAug 2022

The campsite was lovely. A small quiet site, in a beautiful area. However, it was basic. This isn't an issue for us, but I felt it was overpriced. We asked Rob, the owner for directions. He directed us stating 30 mins to The Lion. We are good walkers and it took us an hour. He stated 55 mins to the river, so we gave that a miss. It's a short drive to Symonds Yat and to Monmouth. This is a nice site with a nice friendly owner. We were just a bit disappointed, after getting a fishing permit, that it was a long walk to the river and felt it was a bit overpriced. I must add that the walk to the pub was beautiful and the pub itself was lovely.

Site's response

I am glad you enjoyed our campsite and the lovely local pub. Sorry it took you longer than expected to walk to the pub. We regularly make the walk in 30 minutes but perhaps it takes a bit longer when you are unfamiliar with the route. We hope to see you again.

Shepherd's Hut - Orchard WagonAug 2022

Wonderful little gem of a site set in beautiful countryside. The orchard wagon was clean and comfortable and very private. The toilet and shower facilities were very basic, as expected. I would recommend this site to anyone wanting time away from the world at large. There is no Wi-Fi, so wonderful to completely switch off.

Medium Tent - Grass PitchesJul 2022

We really enjoyed our stay at Highlands Holidays- it’s quite a basic set up but had everything we needed! We even had the place to ourselves on the second night. Very peaceful, clean showers/toilets and friendly guests. Would recommend it for a quiet stay. We visiting Llandegfedd Lake for paddle boarding about 30 mins away and went to Ross-on-Wye. Great stay and Louise was super friendly over the phone and sent a very helpful email before our stay. Thanks!

Oh my... never been camping aside from festivals so this was all new to me but what an absolute gem! Site was small, on a hill and simple but owner was lovely (Louise). And the location... Location location location. It was a stunning area to explore. Unspoilt and so lovely that I'm reluctant to share... Go, you won't be disappointed!!!

Great little find. Small, rural, quiet and very pretty. Lovely walks directly from the site. Two pubs within walking distance and a couple more - a longer but still enjoyable walk. All served great food. Host was lovely, very helpful and friendly. Facilities were basic but perfectly clean and usable with plenty of hot water. Would recommend!

A perfect campsite if you're looking for a quiet, back to basics escape. We also enjoyed a walk on the bridlepath through glorious ancient woodlands to the pub in the nearby village of Trellech.

We had a great stay at Highlands Farm Camping the other weekend. We didn't have to drive anywhere, as there were beautiful walks from the site. Louise and her family couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Our camping neighbours' car had broken down on arrival and we saw how Louise and her husband helped them to get it sorted out with their local mechanic. Couldn't recommend it more and would definitely go back again.

Great place to camp!

We had a great two night stay in this small but lovely campsite. It's a great location for visiting the Wye and there are two pubs very close by for lovely food and great walks. We were able to have real fires which was very much needed in April. Would definitely return.

Site's response

Thanks for your review. Glad you enjoyed our lovely local pubs and the many lovely walks from our site. I hope we'll see you again, Louise

Lovely site... the field, water, hot showers, loos and chemical waste disposal, plus a fabulous walk to the pub that sells real cider through ancient woodland. Loads of wood anemones, brimstone butterflies, owls hooting and camp fires. Picnic tables and wonderful owners.

Really nice to meet you. Lovely to have a chat round the campfire. Do come again, Louise

Middle aged couple with 9 year old girl and a retriever in a 7.5m motorhome. We found the hosts really friendly and the site very quiet. There was a rope swing for our daughter and ancient woods for the dog 150 yards up the road. Would definitely stay again.

Single Axle Caravan - Hardstanding PitchJan 2022

If you want peace and quiet and a bit of almost-wild camping, then this field is for you. Very natural. We booked the only hardstanding which we thought would provide some space from the mud but unfortunately it was overgrown to be more like a grass hard standing, but you had to walk across the grass for the water so not really an issue. Patrons were friendly. Firewood was £5 a bag but you would need 2-3 bags for a full evening, great it you are chipping in with others though. Very out of the way, plenty of woods and forests for walking and some spectacular views.
