A family run touring caravan park in a tranquil haven, Oakmere has its own micro climate created by being nestled in the Vale of York. Close to Selby, a great designer outlet, York city centre and more, it's surrounded by the glorious nature and wildlife of Skipwith Common. Dog friendly and ideal for keen walkers, cyclists, nature lovers, anglers and those looking for a quiet restful break.

About Oakmere Caravan Park and Fishery

This is a spacious and leafy site, where pitches are both flat and well drained. It's a campsite popular with fishermen/women but also an excellent spot for birdwatchers, photographers, dog walkers and those wishing to rest in a peaceful spot close enough to the historic city of York. It's also a wonderful, safe environment for dog lovers to enjoy walking on arable farmland. Plenty of space out in the countryside for those wishing to watch and snap photos of the diverse and extensive wildlife found on Skipwith Common, a nature reserve. Caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents of any size can stay on spacious grass pitches, with electric provided. There is an excellent family and dog friendly pub, The Drovers Arms, just a short stroll from the site serving a variety of food and drinks and even offering takeaway service at a weekend.

The site opens the first weekend in March and closes the last weekend in November.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include an amenities block with large individual wet rooms and toilets, plus a kitchen area which includes a freezer, sinks, a tumble dryer and a washing machine. Calor gas is available and there are three well stocked coarse fishing lakes.

A pub close by and within safe walking distance offers good food, a selection of real ales, a large gin menu and a welcome for families and dogs. Local shops provide immediate necessities with larger supermarkets within a short car journey. A bus stop right outside the park gives easy access to York city centre.
