Bwlchgwyn Farm and Pony Trekking is an unspoiled campsite on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, overlooking the Mawddach Estuary and Welsh coastline. This peaceful farm and equestrian centre offers a range of pitches for campers and tourers and also includes a pair of cosy glamping pods too! With easy reach to the stunning beaches and right on the Mawddach Trail, it's a great base. There's even a footpath leading to the stunning Blue Lake.

Good location and excellent views but site could do with a spruce up!

The views are excellent from the site. The toilet block was clean with plenty of hot water. Disappointed that the chemical waste point was not in use as the construction was not finished. There were also sheep bones on the grass by our pitch and the glass bin was overflowing. It seemed that the site had not been checked/cleaned and tidied since last season. We were there late March but I would think the site would be tidied before peak season. There are a lot of caravans sited permanently and their pitches have a lot of debris (ie: old barbecues etc rusting) making the site look a little unkept. There are no paths leading off the site, you do need to drive to access any local walks. There is a free parking area at the railway station where you can access the walk to Barmouth.

A lovely little stay for my 4 year old and myself. It was a great base for going to Fairbourne, Barmouth and surrounding area. Apart from some crumbs on the bed the pod was cosy, clean and bed comfortable enough. We hired a fire basket which was great as the sun went down looking over the estuary. Toilets / showers very close to the pods which was handy. Be careful on the drive up to the pod as it gets a bit slippy / liable to get a bit stuck if you don’t angle the car right.

Beautiful place, amazing views. I wish showers were in different areas, too wet to get changed.

Absolutely stunning setting, with far reaching views of the estuary and sea. We saw some stunning sunsets. Pitches were a good size and the owner personally drives you to the correct pitch. Facilities were really good with plenty available. Only a minor upgrade to the facilities would be a vacant/occupied sign, to help know which ones are in use.

We all enjoyed the campsite, the views from our pitch were amazing. We went on the light railway and took a boat trip across to Barmouth, which was lovely. The pony trekking was my favourite and our 5 year old daughter loved her first pony ride. We would like to try the holiday cottages next time we come. Thank you.

Lovely farm with amazing views. We definitely will come back to this farm. Lady on reception is so kind. We didn't like that it's a shower together with toilet with no shower curtain and they don't have any playgrounds for children. But once you visit this place, you will start to plan another visit again and again. We are in love.

Beautiful area, very scenic & quiet. Sited on steep hill on various levels, but still could accommodate, caravans, mobile homes & tents. Toilets & showers were very clean.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay. Our pitch was called horseshoe 2. Plenty of space and the views are stunning. Fantastic showers/toilets and wash up area. Very clean and fresh. There is a local chippy/bar/bakery/shop in Fairbourne which is literally 2 mins drive from the site, should you need anything. We will definitely visit here again. Thank you to the owners for making our first camping trip so lovely 💕

There are beautiful views from this campsite. The toilet/ shower block was clean and seemed very new. Drinking water was easy to access on site and a clean washing up hut is also available. The weather was awful whilst we were there so we definitely plan to go back to make the most of the beautiful beach. The site offers fire pit hire which is a nice touch and was great for our group to gather round on the one dry evening we had!

Nice rustic style site with amazing views. The site was mostly quiet. It felt safe and had new looking wet rooms and facilities. There were easy to find amenities. There was a wonderful view over Fairbourne/Barmouth/Estuary and it was an easy journey by car to local beaches. The grounds of the site were well maintained. The site is set on quite a steep stony hill, so can be tricky to manoeuvre both vehicles and small children and gets dusty. Bathrooms could do with better ventilation and more utilities to help get kids ready (e.g, changing table, shelf for toiletries, more hooks as the floor in the combined shower and toilet got quite wet) No entertainment on site and quite a steep, partially no pavement walk along a narrow road into Fairbourne. A kids park would have been perfect to be able to stay onsite a bit more. There may have been something to do onsite, but check in was (understandably for personal staffing reasons) brief. The cons above didn't affect our stay at all, they were minimal and we had a lovely break.

Me, my boyfriend and dog spontaneously booked a weekend here! The campsite was in a beautiful spot with the most amazing views over the estuary/sea (especially the sunset). Nice big pitches and a fair amount of amenities. Only downside was although there was a 10:30pm cutoff for music this was not enforced at all and we were kept up both nights until 1/2am. Wouldn’t recommend if you had children with you or if you were a light sleeper. Tainted an otherwise lovely stay!

The owners were really helpful and always accomodating when I had a problem or forgotten to bring a electric plug adapter. Showers were powerful and hot. Facilities always clean, but on occasions there wasn't toilet roll or hand towels. I know the owners would no doubt replace if asked, but it was a bit if a trek to their home, to be bothered walking the step incline back to base. Although, the incline was certainly worth the walk for the stunning views. Had a lovely stay all round would definitely go back again.

Absolutely amazing, the views are to die for and the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. Booked this as an alternative to Shell island camping, the views themselves far outdo Shell Island. We will be staying here again as it is our favourite campsite in the UK so far.
