We have bought our first ever caravan and wanted to go somewhere really local to find our feet and how to run everything. River View was a 5 minute drive away but felt like we were on a proper holiday! You could only hear the bypass if there were sirens. The staff were amazing and were so helpful, all facilities were really clean. Our kids spent the whole weekend on the climbing frame, which was ideal as we could supervise them from our sunbathing spot next to our caravan!! The bar and food hut is so cute, I loved the fairy lights and it was very reasonable pricing too. The only cons we had were that the drinking water tap was located right next to where you dispose of your waste, as well as where the bins were kept so wasn't very sanitary. The toilet block was quite a trek for us being at the top of the field with little ones but that shouldn't be as much of an issue next time as we plan to tackle how the toilet works. None of the cons have put us off though, we will be returning in the near future to build our confidence even further :) thank you!

Our first time and we would certainly return, probably at a weekend when the bar/food van are there. Easy walk to a nice local cafe/bar. We liked the "quiet adults-only" riverside pitch.
Lovely site but our pitch was loud until midnight

The site itself is lovely and the staff were really friendly, but we booked this weekend to relax and had the baby with us so picked the quiet pitch for ease when we needed to get her to sleep. This pitch was so noisy. All night the bar attracts guests, which is a lovely touch to the site but the quiet pitch being next to the bar was really not quiet at all. On both nights we were not able to settle the baby until 11/12 at night. Even when the bar was shut for the evening, some of the guests who are sited there were extremely loud. It was a lovely site but the noisiest site we have ever stayed at. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean and bar guy was lovely and friendly.

Brilliant site. Very clean, friendly and had more to offer than expected. This was a perfect site for me and my family, we absolutely loved it, safe for the kids. Lovely and clean with great facilities, we loved the evening food and drink options. Will definitely book again. There were multiple fields for different groups, whether with kids or couples.
Our special request was 'a sunny, dry period' and you provided it!

Everything was fine for us. 'Peace and Quiet' but occasional barking dogs can be a bit of a nuisance. 'Who does site best suit?' - again the site attempts to cater for different groups including couples, and older children/young children, so potentially the site suits all, wisely in different sections (we are a couple). However, groups, as you must know can be challenging as members tend to call over (loudly) to friends and often, of an evening, members compete with their jokes in order to get the biggest laugh. We were happy to see children near us, and thankfully you do not advertise the site as 'Adults only, dogs welcome'. We have visited twice now, so hopefully will see you again next year. Have a good season.

The internet didn't work very well. There was also only one toilet block for all. It could be a five star camping site but could only give it three stars.
Great weekend

We got ourselves stuck on arrival in soft mud area. Our own fault and we were helped by the Site Manager to get us out. However, there was little conversation when that was happening and after that we were we hardly spoken to. On arrival, the information provided said electricity was charged at an extra cost. There was no cost per unit on the sheet given on arrival, or any campsite details on the internet. Had we known there was a charge we would have based our choice of campsite on that, or made other provisions for generating electricity, i.e. we have solar panels we could have used on a very sunny week. The cost of electricity whilst we were there was £28.80 for 144 units, which was over 6 nights. This was for running a fridge and some lights, but not much as light nights. This was disappointing. The description of the site says there is a 'short woodland walk', which was a path through some trees. There are also only two showers in each block - we were fine as the campsite wasn't full but in summer season this would be different. There are lots of signs around reminding campers various 'do not' things. One is about it being a quiet campsite after 10pm. We unfortunately had to ask what appeared to permanent residents to turn down music they were playing whilst sitting in a van later than this. The campsite is pretty and there are nice things such as a bar at the weekend and food van. The shop looked nice on the last day I went to pay for electricity. Toilets were generally clean, although there weren't many people at the site and there was toilet paper sticking out of the hygiene/sanitary bin when we stayed. Some good points, some disappointing in both our views.

Very welcoming family run site, pitches were nicely spaced out and there was plenty of space for the children to play without being in anyone's way. Showers were hot and toilets were very clean. Little bit of a walk from where we were situated up in the family area but not too far in practice. Bar and evening entertainment on the Saturday night was brilliant, lovely area which was very relaxing on the Sunday too. There is a food truck on site as well if you don't fancy cooking. The children's play area was small but the fairy trail and river playing made copious amount of hours of fun all in. Electric is charged at 20p per kWh which is cheaper than being at home! Location wise great for refilling supplies at Cross Hands and not far out of Swansea or able to explore the local attractions. Would highly recommend for families, great place for multiple family units to pitch up and enjoy the weekend.

It was lovely and clean and really quiet. We'd never been camping before and found it really enjoyable for our two kids and dog. There's a large dog walking field a park for the kids that we could see from the tent. The toilets were close.
Extremely clean facilities

We chose this as our first stop over for a small tour of Wales and it was very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the lower half of the site, which is for adults only, there is a larger area available up the hill. Mobile phone and Freeview reception was brilliant, there are lovely walks close by.

Although you can hear the noise of the A48 in the background, you feel very good tucked away in the valley.

Stayed here for 11 nights. Very easy to get to, good sized pitches, clean facilities. Although, as our stay was over the extra bank holiday, found it a little busy at times as there was only one block for the site. Staff were very friendly, lots to see and do in the area. We were adults with a dog and was easy to find dog friendly areas. There was a separate area for families with a play area (which we didn't need). Due to the electricity increase, we were given a meter reading on arrival and submitted one on departure. It cost us about £1 per day and this was for 2 of us in a small caravan, so not too bad. Would definitely recommend this site.

This site is situated at the end of a private lane next to a river. Very peaceful, staff were friendly and facilities were spotless. There is somewhere to walk the dogs without walking along the road too. We stayed in the adults-only field. Would recommend it for a quiet getaway.

Lovely little site, some noise from nearby road but not intrusive. Our site plan/details were pinned up outside reception for us on arrival. Good clean facilities, but I'd question whether 2 showers, 3 loos and 2 urinals in the gents would be enough when the site is full. There was a small shop which didn't seem to be open much and we didn't use so can't comment on that really. We didn't really meet the owners, apart from once when we walked past the shop and were asked if we needed any help, and then when we left, with our electric meter reading (be aware you have to pay, although it does say that when you book I couldn't remember seeing it!) Also, no way of identifying which meter went with which hook up, although the hook ups were numbered to each pitch number, the meters weren't. Lots of things to see and do nearby; Llyn Llech Owain, Gelli Aur Arboretum (bit small, no way markers but nice), Henrhyd Falls and Abercraf, Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary, Penllegaer Forest Walk, Craig Y Nos Country Park all good!
Nice campsite
