Park was clean and tidy, food and drink was not a rip off like some. Facilities were limited but fine for a couple of nights. The campsite and adjacent vehicle pitches are very close to the busy A75. I am not a light sleeper but was awoken by the traffic noise. From around 3:00am each morning, heavy goods vehicles heading too and from Stranraer make it very hard to get back to sleep.

Site was clean and the views were great. Lovely hot showers which were kept spotlessly clean. Food in the restaurant was very good and the on-site swimming pool was a bonus. All in all a very good experience, would definitely recommend.

Site was very well maintained, however toilets and showers need more attention to detail from housekeepers.

Fab site with great views and very friendly, helpful staff. Great value for money in sports bar and restaurant. We were based in the circle which was great. The only negative is the crows squawking in the trees, but that's the only one. We went on a few day trips to Gatehouse of Fleet, Isle of Whithorn, Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart etc. We will definitely be back.

It was a great stay. The facilities are first class and it's central to a lot of local attractions. If you are considering staying, I would suggest requesting a pitch away from the crows. They are very noisy when they roost in mass in the trees overhead.

It was an enjoyable weekend and the staff were fantastic. Only thing that really bothered us was that the main road was close to the tent pitches and the lorries were loud throughout the night. I also understand that work is being carried out to upgrade the site but starting work at 07:30 was a bit early I'd say! All that said, we will be returning.

A good stay. Our only issue was the noise of the road next to site and hardstanding was really hard to get pegs in.

We have just returned from two nights camping in a tent at Auchenlarie. Although we are experienced tourers in a motorhome, this is the first time we have camped in a tent with young children so we were a little apprehensive. We were well equipped with everything we needed but the onsite shop was well stocked and reasonably priced for any items we might have forgotten. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were clean and warm. There are plenty of on site activities to keep the children entertained including a selection of great play parks, a fabulous AstroTurf football pitch and easy access to a quaint beach. The sports bar was also a great place to enjoy a game of pool or darts. I was disappointed that we had to pay for swimming as I assumed it was included in the price. Earplugs were a must as tents are placed very close to the A75 where trucks thunder past during the night and there is a large collection of crows nests close by who do not sleep! We all enjoyed our stay and would recommend to all age groups.

First time at this site but won't be the last. The views on arrival are stunning. We found our grass tent pitch with ease, nice big plot with water and electric. Very busy noisy road beside us but earplugs helped. Facilities are very clean and modern. We were really impressed with the sports bar and the staff were brilliant. Dogs allowed on patio and inside. Darts, pool and footy on TVs, great atmosphere. We tried to book a table at the restaurant however we were told we couldn't have food outside just drinks. We had a dog so had to get takeaways. The little beach cove is gorgeous (very steep) but worth it. Plenty of bins and poo bins. Well maintained site.

Pros: The area was nice, facilities were clean, employees were friendly, beach access was nice, toilets, water, and electricity were all close at-hand. Cons: The major drawback was our tent site was near the road. All we could hear was cars driving by throughout the day and lorries all night (probably coming to and from the ferry). It turned out to not be much of a nature retreat because of that. Second con was the indoor pool was more expensive than visiting a leisure centre. It should be included with your stay, and if not, a minimal fee.

Great place! Enjoyed the great bar and lovely views. Only downside was that somebody's Alsatian broke free from its pitch, attacked my wee dog and me and my husband, luckily 2 guys helped us.

The site is mainly catered towards static homes. The first pitch allocated was away from everything, you might as well park on the main road. The very nice Deborah in reception gave us an option to move which we thankfully did. Toilets and showers were kept to a high standard, the only criticism is nowhere to hang any clothes in the shower. With site facilities, you have to buy credits to use the pool and the bar. We were assured everything was open as normal but the only place for food or a coffee or even a pint opened at 4.30pm and you still have to book in advance if you have a Wi-Fi signal. Otherwise it was ok, though I wish we only booked it as a stopover.

Very nice place, could do with a hose to rinse your toilet down after emptying it but that's it.
