Budle Bay Campsite is a five minute walk from Budle Bay, close to Lindisfarne and Holy Island. The village of Bamburgh is just five minutes down the road, with sand dunes, beautiful beaches and its famous historic castle. Grass and hardstanding pitches are available for tents and tourers, with a range of glamping huts on offer too. Enjoy glorious dark skies with nearby boat trips taking you to the Farne Islands, home to puffins in the summer!

Nice friendly campsite but facilities not great

Very helpful, friendly staff. Location is great and beautiful. Facilities not so good. Not enough showers in my opinion and the ones they have could do with a more thorough clean. Very weak pressure in them, so definitely not enough to get a good hair wash. They have a shop on site, not open that much but it's stocked with essentials.
Excellant stay, really nice site

Well organised, clean facilities. Set out off road. 15 mins walk to closest beach. 1.5 hours to Bamburgh via beach. The site did what we needed it to. No footpath on road to village. Make own arrangements to get back when dark. Pitches are quite close together.

Thanks for your review John!

The site has very small spaces for a lot of campers. The toilets and sinks were dirty. The showers are still acceptable. Translated from German
Site's response
Hi. Our site is correctly spaced to meet regulations, whilst also allowing everyone enough space on their pitch.
Very busy campsite

We booked a large riverside pitch and paid extra, hoping it was going to be peaceful, but it was the busiest campsite we've been to, with almost every pitch taken. Seemed to have many long term caravans in situ. It was hard to see any 'green areas' and it felt like everyone was crammed in. Just our personal opinion, it may have been as it's during the main holidays but still many long term, unused caravans there. Some pitches looked very small so we're glad we didn't have those. Plenty of toilets and showers. Good location for visiting local places.

Hi Sarah. Thanks for leaving us a review. The middle of the school holidays in August is always going to be a busy period for a popular Campsite unfortunately! Add to that the poor start to the Summer weather-wise - coupled with the sudden change to great weather in August - and you'll find most Campsites very busy! We are glad to see everyone having a great time and enjoying the peak-season sunshine!

Lovely campsite with good facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. We liked that they have a multitude of accommodation to cater for different needs, not just tents and caravans, but also for backpackers too, with cold storage facilities. Child and animal friendly. Only thing I would potentially majorly down for is the lack of Wi-Fi. However, I haven't as this is also a bonus point for some, as kids actually out playing with their adults and entertaining themselves and each other, and enjoying the outdoors. Would recommend and also return ourselves.

This site is value for money and in a good location. Hardstandings are very snug and the shower and toilet, we didn't use as they're very outdated. Also, there's a great pizza to had here.

You usually get what you pay for. Not here. Came home two days earlier than expected. Shower facilities poor and toilets poor. It's a shame because at these prices, it should be so much better. Way overpriced lovely location.

Thanks for your three star review, Michael.

Great site. Really quiet which was nice. Good location, friendly staff. Overall a great stay, and the site was clean and tidy, would recommend. Would happily stay again. For me the toilets by reception could have been a bit better, a bit cleaner and with a hand dryer. The fridge/freezers were a great addition, but these were either very full (a lot of out of date produce) or not working. Again would have been nice to have some at the both ends of the site.

Thank you for your kind words.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is lovely. The campsite is maintained well, tidy. Unfortunately, the toilets and shower blocks were very disappointing, dated and dirty. There is no laundry on site and the shop is very basic.

Just back from a 3 day break. Staff friendly and helpful and we had a great stay. Nice quiet campsite. Loos and showers very clean. Felt a few bits look tired, especially the shower area/sink rooms, which need a lick of paint, and some of the resident caravans seemed quite poorly cared for. Shop would benefit from a little more stock....milk, crisps, eggs maybe? But we enjoyed our break and it's well located for lots of local places of interest.

Weather not good during stay, so unable to get full potential. However, enjoyed it and will come back. Men's toilets a bit pongy and could do with sorting, but all good other than that. Used as base for diving. If I could add something, a bar would be good and light food etc. Also, a drying room would be good to dry off clothes/dive gear - unless I missed this.

A very quiet and basic site. Lovely walk into Bamburgh, takes about 1.5 hours to walk the beach way, or about 50 mins following the road.

Arrived an hour early and was unable to access site as was reception closed, just a note to others. Booking in was simple and straightforward, instructions were good and staff member was helpful. Arrived on Wednesday and site was well over half full, pitched and electric all worked. Toilet facilities were looking tired and in need of updating, showers were poor with no curtains or surface to place belongings. At weekend, there were queues for the showers, not helped by one shower not working. The site was large and could mean a long walk to the toilets. No dog walking area resulting in dogs toileting on pitches. There was little in the way of shops and pubs within walking distance of the site although it is right on the Costal Path.
Site's response
It would have been good to hear a few of our good points, Phil. as you are trying to give a balanced viewpoint to your readers. May I help? Perhaps mention the warm, friendly, hard working staff who would have been eating their midday meal during the hour your arrived early on site, so weren't there to let you in early? Perhaps that we actually have 2 toilet blocks, one at each end of the site so it might not be such a long walk to go to the toilet after all? Or the 9 powerful showers with free, unlimited hot water, despite them having no curtains? Or, that we do in fact have a dog walking area to the front of the campsite where you can let your dog off its lead and that we are also surrounded by walks suitable to exercise your dog and allow it to do it's business? Then the beauty and peacefulness of the site would be worth commenting on, as would the ideal location of the site within the Area of Outstanding Beauty (which is why we are a very popular site and why the site was full the weekend you stayed with us). Perhaps you could have mentioned that we have a small shop onsite? Or the a wonderfully relaxing sound our stream makes at night? The rural, coastal location a few minutes from the sea? The swifts and kingfishers? Bamburgh Castle? So many things you could also have said to help the reader. We are happy to be what we are, which is not a 5 star, immaculately groomed site but a friendly, warm, welcoming family run site, reasonable priced (for the area) with nice people who simply want you to enjoy your stay.

We had a very pleasant stay at Budle Bay campsite. The amenities are very clean and well looked after. The campsite is very quiet, which suited us very well. The beach is a drive away. It is only 3 miles to Bamburgh. We will most definitely stay here again.
Site's response
Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We love our site and work hard to make everyone enjoy staying here as much as we enjoy working here. It's helped by being set in a beautiful part of the country. I mean, who isn't blown away by Bamburgh Castle and its beach! Look forward to seeing you again next time you are in the area.

Just stayed at this site and was fast and easy to book in. We had a tent with electric and not a problem. Facilities were clean and tidy, showers were nice. Expected much worse, especially for the price I paid. Was a washing station for you to do your dishes, a tap for drinking water and was fridges there, which I think you paid a bit extra for but I take a little fridge for the tent!

Arrived Friday evening to a cheery welcome from the reception staff. Shown pitch for van and where to fill with water. Was parked and hooked up within minutes. Toilet and shower blocks were always clean and operational apart from when being cleaned. About a 2 mile walk along the coastal path to nearest town (Bamburgh) but we knew that when booking. A really quiet, tidy site, spot on for a relaxing stay.
