We found this site to be conveniently located for the Dorset Coast. Easy check-in as barrier uses vehicle registration and all information clearly communicated by email before hand so quick to access and set up on pitch. Great facilities, showers lovely and hot! Everyone onsite was very friendly, particularly the lady in the shop and the staff on the coffee/pastry gazebo on site. There was nothing to fault and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hill Cottage Farm.

This site was exceptional from the slick booking, to the clear and timely pre-arrival communications, to the stay itself. Arrival was the easiest I've ever experienced, with the ANPR system opening the gate as I drove up and then able to drive straight to the pre-allocated pitch ready to set up. The pay-per-use electricity system was easy to use and ready to go on arrival. The pitch was large and clean, with privacy hedges between them. Electricity, water and grey waste were straightforward to connect and worked flawlessly throughout. The free WiFi was a bit patchy but the mobile signal was OK so no bother. If you wanted to you could arrive, stay and leave without speaking to any staff, but we did and they were friendly and helpful. A small shop stocked a decent amount of basics and the toilet and shower block was clean. We used the onsite Thai restaurant for takeaway on the first night, which was welcome and great. There was also a coffee and pastry stand over the weekend mornings and a pizza stand in the evening. The on-site dog walk was a good length and linked to a lovely walk to the nearby village, making it easy to access the pub and co-op shop. Plenty to see in the local area too - overall a wonderful few days in a great site that we hope to return to.

This was our families first camping experience so we are not able to compare it to any other sites, however I can definitely say that we will be going again! The facilities were great, it also has a free fishing lake if that is of interest. The site is very dog-friendly, lots of walking areas including a very nice forest trail.

Brilliant, so glad you enjoyed it.

Excellent campsite - lovely people and loved the privacy of the hedges. Coffee lady was fantastic and so was the pizza and the Thai - all yummy. My only issue is there was not a secure field to let your dogs have a run about, which I feel is a necessity as they have all travelled a long way to get to you.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. If you take the dog walk around the field and go through the gate, you are welcome to let dogs off there for a run and snuffle in the woods on the way to the pub!

A brilliant site. Pitches were a good size, the staff were friendly and helpful. Showers and toilets were clean. Love the number recognition gate which made the site feel safe. I would definitely go back there again.

A lovely location for either a shorter or longer break. The team are very helpful and the site is well-looked after. The only improvement I can think of is to have a bigger sign at the entrance! we drove past it a couple of times, even when we knew where it was!

Very clean and well-kept. Shower-room could do with extractor fans or windows, always felt tropical and extremely humid in the showers. Our pitch had a slight slope. Very quiet after 10pm, dogs very welcome. Staff very friendly. We said we would go again.

Thank you for your review Gerald, we hope to see you again in 2025.

Really nice site. Friendly and has a shop and onsite hot food and drink options. Men's toilets could have been cleaner, and could have had flushes that actually worked.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. The toilets are cleaned at least twice a day and any issues are sorted as soon as we're aware of them, I'm really sorry that you found them like this.

Just arrived home up north after a week stay at Hill Cottage Farm. I've been camping in/around the New Forest since I was a child and have now begun the annual tradition with my own little girl. The facilities are excellent: clean & tidy, plenty of toilets & showers for the size of the site, a well stocked on-site shop & the on-site Thai restaurant is a bonus. We stayed on a grass pitch with electric hook up. Pitches are extremely generous size-wise - space for a 4 man tent, the car & a 'garden' area that I sectioned off with a windbreak for my little girl to play in. The on-site playground for the kids was an absolute god-send. Despite my little girl only being 4 (& having additional needs) I felt perfectly comfortable letting her wander down to play on her own (playground was visible from our pitch) and having that independence was so exciting for her. We did the dog walk loop one evening which is the perfect distance for an after dinner stroll. The self-check in and e-pitch electric hook-up are so convenient after a long journey & allowed us to just go straight to the pitch and get on with setting up (saving any waiting around in the car for an already antsy child!). The showers were excellent - good pressure & temperature, no different from home really. The entire site is extremely well kept, neat, and tidy. I didn't foresee using the laundry facilities but our tent flooded, so I was very grateful for easy access to a washing machine and tumble dryer for all our towels used to mop up (my only grumble being that it is quite expensive per load/dry but needs must!). On the other hand, I put £25 on our electric hook up and in an entire week we only used £2.21 (charging power banks/phones/my daughter's tablet almost constantly) which I thought was excellent value. The on site shop has an excellent stock of products but for anything they don't have, there is a Co-op just down the road in the village which is handy. The staff are friendly & helpful - special mention to the young lad on reception who immediately came down to our pitch when I went up after having a little difficulty with the electric hook up. Throughout our stay, we spoke a number of times and he was so helpful, so friendly, even checking up on how we were doing with getting our tent sorted after it flooded. I wish I'd remembered to ask his name to properly thank him in this review! He is such a credit to the site. Both myself & my daughter are autistic, so interacting with new people can be a challenge but it was very easy to ask him for help when needed. The only minor thing I could mention for improvement is the Wi-Fi access. It was non-existent on our pitch (mid-site, so not the furthest away from the main building). The only way to connect was to sit on the bench outside the main building. There is extremely limited signal & 3G/4G on the pitches so you really are reliant on Wi-Fi. It's not the end of the world but it was frustrating wanting to google things to do the next day, plan a route, or contact/update family in the evening & not being able to without leaving my daughter asleep alone in the tent & going up to the main building. I so wish this site was closer to/actually in the New Forest itself, as it would genuinely be perfect then! Overall, an excellent site. Camping as a single mum, 5 hours from home, with an additional needs child can be a daunting prospect, but we genuinely had a great time and felt very safe and secure on site. Everyone on site was so welcoming to my little girl & I, it was a really positive experience for us both. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hill Cottage Farm again and may well be back next summer! Thank you for the wonderful stay!

Thank you for your review Abigail. We will upgrade the Wifi as soon as funds allow and hope to see you both next year.

We have loved our time at hill cottage farm. Facilities are as expected, but the area is beautiful and the park quietened very quickly at night which was really helpful with our children getting to sleep. A lovely park for them to play at - where they made lots of friends. Nearby lots of lovely locations, shops and forests. Easy access, lovely onsite coffee shop. Really nice neighbours and an all round wonderful stay! We can't wait to return.

The campsite was generally fine - everything was clean and in order. However, I was disappointed that they charged an extra fee for our small children's tent, even though we had already paid for a 6-person site. Since we only needed a 4-person main tent for our family, we had to bring a separate small tent for the kids, and were surprised to be charged extra for that. Overall, the facilities were good, but the extra fees felt unnecessary and a bit disappointing. I would recommend the site, but be aware of any additional charges for extra tents or equipment.

We really enjoyed our time here. We found the pitch a good size, it felt nice and private with the hedges in between. The serviced pitch was brilliant, the electric easy to set up and monitor if you actually read the instructions. I didn't, but as soon as I did it was simple and clear. We used the on site Thai restaurant and we had a nice meal and it wasn't expensive. Our one gripe was the showers, they were perfectly functional, but did feel a little cramped and the water doesn't stay on long enough, which was quite annoying. That said it was a minor irritation only. We would definitely recommend staying here, and we would happily return in future. We did attempt the walk to the pub, but ultimately turned back as we found the path overgrown and in the wet a little treacherous. We also found the directions a little unclear, but I am sure once you know the route it would be far easier to navigate. A visual map or markers along the route would be useful. The showers did seem nicer in the main block and this was only a little further to walk. All in all we liked it here and would happily recommend it to family and friends. The site is quiet past 22:00 and we had absolutely no issues or dramas during our stay. Definitely a recommended for families wanting a nice smaller feel site with good facilities and friendly atmosphere.

The site was easy to find, the ANPR worked every time and it was spotless. The site had clearly marked pitches and they were a very generous size. The amenities were of a high standard and always clean. The showers were hot every time. The hut selling coffee and pastries was a welcome bonus, it was very reasonably priced for the convenience. The Thai food from the onsite restaurant was very nice and, again, very reasonable. The walks were well signed and being able to walk the dogs in the wooded area was lovely. A convenient walk to the pub and the shops was great in fine weather. A really peaceful break on a beautiful site, thank you very much.

We had a great stay at Hill Cottage Farm and cant recommend it enough. It is a really lovely site with excellent large pitches and great, very clean facilities. The location is good and easy to find and it is very quiet and peaceful. The dog walk is perfect and a walk through the woods to the pub even better. The lady selling 'real' coffee on site was also real treat. We only stayed the weekend but can't wait to come back again and hopefully stay for longer, as we easily could.

Spacious well kept site with lovely hedges and planting. In the camping field, I do feel that although not a problem for our stay in early July, there were not enough showers for when school holidays. Water for washing dishes lukewarm, had to take a boiled kettle of water. Not ideal carrying this across the field. Two sinks not enough in camping toilets area. There was one morning, two ladies cleaning their teeth and therefore no sink to wash hands when coming out of toilet. Also, only one mirror and one hairdryer in toilets. There were more toilets, sinks and showers in other toilets in the green field, where every caravan would be equipped with its own facilities. The balance seems slightly wrong. Was surprised that no butter/spread available in the site shop Overall, a lovely site that I would recommend just observations above would improve things.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and thank you for your suggestions. We now have butter in the shop, we'd obviously run out when you were here :)

I couldn't fault the site in any way. There was a little mix up with the booking to start with but it was easily sorted. It was a nice peaceful site, the woods around the area for a walk. Villages and towns all within a short drive. Staff friendly, well organised, plenty of space on the pitches. I could not fault it.

Absolutely loved this site, what a little gem, great pitches, plenty of room, very tidy everywhere we went. Great friendly staff, and a fantastic dog walking area around the field, measured on a walking app at 0.75 miles. Takes in small family fishing ponds too. You can also walk through woods to the nearest pub, also great for the dog. Site also has a Thai restaurant and take away on site, very reasonably priced, and popular for takeaway with the campers. Night-time was quiet, seemed very respectful to all other campers. 100% will be use this site again, brilliant site, well done to all involved.
