Well, we were challenged by the weather. Great service and welcome from the staff. Food was great at the kitchen. Showers and toilets were fine but not of a high standard.

22 acres of rustic and rural camping which was perfect for us. If wild camping is your thing then this is the place. Facilities are basic with compostable toilets and solar showers but it all adds to the rural experience! There is a meadow for pitching or for a more secluded camp there are plenty of little private pitches all tucked away in the woodland. The staff were fantastic and on arrival helped us out and showed us around. The lake is stunning and there were plenty of families with children. As a couple, we wanted our own space and quiet which was lovely in our little spot under the trees. Lots of wildlife and animals scurrying around. Not far from Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle. If you love the outdoors and bit more of a wild camping experience then this is the place. We will definitely stay again.

Thank you so very much for your top rating 5 out of 5 - we also really appreciate your detailed description of the campsite and it's location & amenities - but we just wanted to say there are flushing loo blocks and regular showers too! We are indeed really close to the lovely fishing village of Port Isaac, famous beauty spots Tintagel (with it's historic castle) & Boscastle, plus premier surfing beach Polzeath, with Daymer Bay, Rock & Padstow (think cycle trails & Rick Stein's fish & chips!) all nearby too. We'll really look forward to seeing your family here again!

Me and my best friend spent the weekend in a wild camping area (Sky 8). Upon arriving we met a gentleman named Tom who was very friendly and made us laugh which was lovely, he showed us a map of the area where we could go etc which was handy. He was always there when you needed him which is a great asset. We got comfortable in our tent then explored to the cafe which we found out served the most amazing half baked cheesecake, pizza and baked potatoes. The ladies and men who work there were very lovely and very sweet. We will definitely be going back as its a nice quiet getaway and I would highly recommend anyone must visit. If you want to go with children, I'd recommend booking a Tipi as they're bigger. We will be booking again soon. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your lovely 5 out of 5 rating and so glad you had such a lovely trip! Great that you so enjoyed the food at the cafe and we'll pass on your kind comments to Tom who will be delighted. See you again soon!

Loved the stay, just make the compost toilets as you should. Like, it works now (number 1 & 2 in a IBC-container) but has nothing to do with the functioning of a compost toilet. Sadly, it means a bad first experience for a lot of people, while it really can work without nasty odours.
Site's response
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and thanks for saying so! We're a tiny bit confused about your composting comments as these are dedicated units complete with urine separator (sorry if too much information everybody!) which can be a bit problematic with lots of kids around. It's when they're not used correctly that the odours occur...but there are always the flushing units just a minute or two's walk away if you choose.

We had a lovely stay! Our wild camping area wasn't overcrowded, it was peaceful and relaxing. All campers were quiet and respectful. The cafe food was really nice, the staff friendly and helpful, and the gorgeous lake was so enjoyable, especially enjoyed the boats. The toilets and showers weren't overcrowded and showers lovely and warm. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife around the site. We made so many fun and happy memories and will definitely recommend and be back next summer! Thank you :)

The campsite is well located within a beautiful part of Cornwall, so days out to wonderful beaches, pretty villages/towns and good walking are easy. The campsite itself is advertised as back to basics, wild camping. Which it is! The woodland site is very pretty and the lake in the old quarry, with rowing boats and the option to fish, is lovely. But the washroom, toilet and washing up facilities are tired and, when it's busy, there aren't enough of them. Site staff are friendly and helpful. During our stay, the site was very noisy - which isn't the fault of the campsite, it just impacted on our enjoyment of the site. We were expecting a more peaceful stay. We paid a lot of money to stay at this site! But, it's Cornwall in the summer and you can argue that almost everything is overpriced. I just don't think the site and facilities justified the high price tag. Overall, a nice stay. Just expensive.
Site's response
Thanks for your feedback and we're so glad you thought our site was pretty and you enjoyed the lake with its boats and fishing etc. There are lots more loo & showers dotted around the campsite if the ones closest to you were too busy (all shown on the map we give you on arrival). Some of the loo blocks are older than the others and we do intend to build another new one this winter which we hope campers will like! Our price does reflect things like the woodland areas, boating & fishing which are all included & the ability to have campfires etc - things that are not available at most campsites. Our friendly staff are more plentiful than at most campsites because we think it improves the visitor experience - but this also has to be reflected in the price. There are cheaper campsites out there but what they offer will be more limited.

Lovely, tranquil campsite, with a beautiful lake and chickens and rabbits running around everywhere. The lake is absolutely stunning. Facilities are kept very clean and staff are lovely and helpful. Hot water was a bit hit and miss but the staff are quick to sort out any issues. Could do with one or two more showers. Teepee was very spacious and well equipped. We had a great time!
Site's response
Thank you, Tanya. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated the lake & chickens! Sometimes the pilot light on the showers goes out, especially if its windy. We have plans to build another shower block - hopefully they will be ready for next season.

Basic facilities but overprized for tent sites. Budget facilities for high price. The atmosphere was nice.
Site's response
We're so pleased you liked the atmosphere but sorry you felt your stay didn't represent good value for money. We hope that all the things we include in our camping fees give travellers lots of bang for their buck (or pound or euro!) These include swimming in our beautiful freshwater lake, fishing for delicious rainbow trout, use of the boats & kayaks, the option to have campfires every night (complete with stargazing & meteor showers this year!) and woodland to wander in - all 5 minutes from our wild Atlantic coast. We appreciate our style of campsite isn't for everybody and are very sorry if it wasn't totally to your liking.

My partner found this little gem and wow what a beautiful and stunning place. The lake has to be our favourite part, being able to have a dip in the morning is so refreshing. Warm showers are always nice to have. This is purely a place of sanctuary for peace and quiet, unless you get a family pitch up next to you and are a little loud, but apart from that wow. I'll be definitely returning.
Site's response
Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay and loved our lake - morning dips are wonderful! We always ask guests to respect the peace & quiet of the site but in peak season it's sometimes hard to keep children quiet at all times! Hope to see you next season!

My partner and I were blown away by this special place. We camped up in the meadow and loved the way the space was set out. The compost toilets were amply stocked with toilet roll and kept clean, and if the showers did occasionally run cold then the site crew were very prompt at changing gas bottles/doing other repairs etc, once they were made aware of the problem. The Gastropod cafe served exceptionally tasty, quality food and drinks. The tipi field looked amazing and some of the tents were beautifully hand painted! The best part though was down at the lake. You could pick yourself out a boat or canoe and have a lovely paddle or swim around the magical lake. I've never seen so many dragon flies!! It was very difficult to leave and we'll definitely be coming back again. Thank you so much Cornish Tipi Holiday Park for a very blissful, fun filled time!

Thank you so much for your great review! Glad you enjoyed your stay - our site staff work really hard to ensure that guests enjoy themselves so it's nice to know they are doing the right thing. We'll let the Gastropod know you enjoyed their food too! Charlotte

Had a lovely few nights at Cornish Tipis. The lake is beautiful and exactly as the pictures show. The site itself was very relaxed, laid back and the tipi was a great space for our first family camping trip. The Gastropod is a must! Had a fab time!
Site's response
Thanks so much for your lovely review and so glad your first family camping trip will not be your last! You can't beat staying in a tipi that's for sure - such a sense of space compared to the average tent. We're delighted you enjoyed the food at the Gastropod Cafe as well - see you again soon!

Can hands down say this is one of the nicest camping holidays I have ever been on. The site is just simple, beautiful and had a calming effect on the soul. It has all the facilities you would need when out camping. Enough toilets and showers for all. Water standpipes are only a few mins walk away. The private wild pitches are just that, private. If you like to get your steps in I would suggest getting a spot in the "skys" section, this involves a good walk up and down the cliff. The staff are amazing and helpful, especially the resident cat, and all the farm yard animals that are free range. One massive plus and I mean massive, is the lake. Not only is it free to use, but there are also boats, kayaks and other bits that are free to use as well. The lake is beautiful and calm and a joy to swim in, I would suggest going for a dip straight after sticking your tent up, great way to relax. Another massive bonus is the gastropod, this little restaurant does some of the best food I have ever tasted, it's decently priced and you can book yourself a table in either the garden, field or pod itself. Overall I am most certainly planning on coming back next year and would highly recommend you give it a go. The price is spot on for what you get. One perfect campsite

Well thank you so much for the completely brilliant and very detailed review - we're so pleased you're coming back next year as it sounds like you totally get our vibe! Everything you've highlighted is exactly what we hope couples, families, solo travellers and groups of friends will enjoy about our large spread out campsite - privacy or neighbours? Swimming, fishing or boating at the lake...or just eating great homemade food at the Gastropod Cafe with a cold beer in hand...? The choice is yours! Look forward to seeing you next season :)

I only make facilities a 4 as it was a struggle to park my car near to the tent. Apart from that, it was 5 stars. The dilemma is, a good review is the truth, but many may want to go and it will be packed next time I visit. Catch 22.
Site's response
Thanks for your (generally!) 5 stars... We're always happy to be busy but hope not to be so full of campers that your next visit is busier than you'd like! You mention the car parking... One of our house rules is that cars have to be parked in a parking area and not next to your tipi or tent. We do try to make it clear that people will have to walk the couple of minutes needed to their pitch. Of course you can drop off your kit at your pitch on arrival and collect again when you leave so no lugging your gear for miles! We do this so the whole campsite doesn't become one giant car park, and so children can run freely and nature be as undisturbed as possible. See you next time! :)

Me and my 9yr old daughter absolutely loved our stay on this campsite. Wonderful location, really friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful lake with canoeing & fishing included. Lots of varied tent pitches. Very clean, basic facilities, very warm showers. Good for watching the wildlife and adventures. Excellent on site gastropub serving really tasty food. Would definitely return and recommend to friends, only negative would be the wedding reception on site playing really loud music until after 12, but what's a bit of outside noise - it's camping after all!!
Site's response
Thanks for your fantastic review and we're so glad you & your daughter had a great time staying with us. We're really pleased you enjoyed the lake and watching the wildlife, and were pleased with the showers and Gastropod Cafe food - it is really delicious! All wedding reception music usually goes off promptly at midnight, so we're guessing that some naughty guests had some of their own music playing later... We're sorry if this happened and disturbed you. We'll look forward to seeing you again!
