Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both 15 minutes away). Just across the road, about a five minute walk away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

Very nice site with excellent ambience, facilities, cleanliness, upkeep and all round appeal. Highly recommended. Beautiful location. Adjacent to Lancaster Canal for walks and 3 minutes walk to an excellent pub. Easy access to M6 junction 36. No issues at all, except the dark wooden beams placed along the edge of the grassed tent pitch area to deter turning motorhomes from encroaching onto the grass. These are invisible in the dark and pose a trip hazard for the unwary when visiting the toilet block.

Gorgeous site, but lots of traffic noise from 2 busy roads and the motorway. Very friendly and helpful owner! Great for dogs.
Site's response
Thank you for recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Allyson. Your stay coincided with the build up to the Westmorland County Show, which is located just a quarter of a mile from us and is one the most popular agricultural shows in the North West - away from when the County Show is on, the site is a peaceful place to be! Paul.

First class service, friendly and attentive. Perfect cleanliness and well presented. Only issue for us was traffic noise, which was a problem we hadn't thought about. Trying to get away from all that and ended up closer as we live away from any motorways! Unfortunately, it was a perfect campsite but in a noisy area.

I'm glad that your visit at Little Acre was a success, Dan. Just spent a long weekend at Little Acre. The owner was nice and friendly and showed us to our pitch with explanations of the site and local area. The site is well kept and clean, and the new shower block is to a high standard. 20p coins for the shower at 3 minutes each, which is more than enough, unless you have a good head of hair to wash, so may need 2 x 20p but complimented with free shower gel, shampoo etc. Crookland pub on the doorstep for good food, but best to book to ensure a table as it gets busy. The canal is right outside the site for walks, or a short drive to the little villages nearby or Kendal a touch further. Loved this short break and the weather was amazing. If you have kids that want to play footie etc. be mindful if the site is busy, as there is limited space but plenty to do offsite. Many thanks for a great weekend.

Thank you for the lovely review on Campsites.co.uk, William and I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at Little Acre. The new shower, loo, laundry and washup block took an age to build, but now that it is open, it's lovely! Paul.

We were initially greeted by a very friendly gentleman who gave us a brief overview of the campsite, exactly what was needed when arriving. The site was on the edge of the lake district however this worked perfectly for us. The facilities were in excellent condition and very clean. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

This was our first tenting holiday and we were spoilt. The location was great just off M6, the shower, toilet and washing up facilities were so clean and had so much space. Paul was so helpful recommending a nice canal walk and was around the site if we needed any assistance. Will definitely return and recommend.
Site's response
Thank you Christopher. It would be lovely to welcome you as a returning customer in the future. Paul

Had a fabulous stay camping with electric hook up at Little Acre. Campsite is quiet, easy to find from M6, lovely location and warm welcome from owner on arrival. Pitch was generous, facilities immaculate and lovely walks along the canal for our dog. Easy access to so many local attractions by car and also walking including the shop at the local garage and the pub across the road. Complimentary Wi-Fi was a bonus. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for staying with us, Helen, and leaving such a comprehensive review of us! It would be lovely to host you again another time. Paul.

Really flexible and accommodating, great facilities block by the camping field and if you don’t fancy cooking the pub over the road does great food. Brilliant for both the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

Simply cannot fault the campsite, the set up or the staff at all. If you asked me to say at least one negative comment then I'd decline. The location is ideal, close to everything you need. The welcome was great, the facilities were superb and the new shower and laundry block would rival a 4-star hotel. We will definitely stay again.

This was one of the nicest campsites we have been to. Paul was very attentive, funny, friendly and always very helpful. The location is central to the Lake and Peak District, so absolutely perfect. The new toilet block was completed during our stay which was absolutely WELL above the standards I'd expect for a campsite. The older toilet block was functional, but a little dated, so would benefit from similar work. There was plenty of space and a whole host of types of groups from solo tenters to family campers to older couples in campervans. There's a lovely river walk at the site entrance and a shop in the petrol station about a 10 minute walk along the river to the right. Met some lovely people and our kids had a fantastic time. I think my only real semi negative would be that the tent field is at an angle but there is nothing that can really be done about that. Thanks you for such a great stay.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit Daniel and leaving such a lovely review. Since your stay, the older "green block" toilet and shower unit has been taken out of use, as it wasn't viable to update, so now we have 2 larger toilet and shower blocks for people to use. Paul P.S. We're well located for the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, both of which are 20 mins away. But less so for the Peak District, which is a couple of hours away.

A very well kept campsite with immaculate pitches. Paul is charming and very helpful. The bathroom facilities are well stocked and maintained. The hair dryer was broken, but the minute it was reported, Paul was on it. Great location, just off the motorway, and good A road connections into the main Lake District sites.
Site's response
I managed to get a replacement hair dryer the day after you left to get everything working 100% again, Alison (thank you for letting me know that it wasn't working properly)! I hope that you'll stay with us another time if you're in our neck of the woods in the future. Paul.

Very friendly welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Condition of the grass was amazing with a large and spacious pitch. Short walk to toilet and shower facilities (new shower block opened up on our last night, which are a bonus addition). Great location for exploring the area and access to canal walk. We were fortunate to star gaze on a clear night with shooting stars. Would definitely consider revisit.
Site's response
Thank you for staying at Little Acre, Ian and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. The new shower, loo, laundry and washing up facility is a very welcome addition and has proven to be very popular since opening. Paul.

We have just stayed for 5 nights and had previously stayed at Little Acre last year for a shorter stay. The site is conveniently located within 30 minutes of Ambleside, Bo'ness and other areas around the Lakes which is what we used it for. I had booked a Large pitch instead of the XL pitch we needed and the owner of the site could not have been more helpful. The site is very well maintained, the showers toilets and washing up station are clean with touches of care (cotton wool, room fragrances, washing up liquid, shampoo etc). The owner is present, helpful and is organised knowing who is coming in and out and even confirms the pitch with you to ensure you are happy with your position on the site. We cannot recommend Little Acre enough, another wonderful stay! The new shower/toilet block is looking wonderful and seems to look as though it is in the finishing touches which will only add to the site.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us again Mark and leaving such a lovely review on Campsites.co.uk. The new shower/loo/laundry/wash up block is indeed very very close to opening and hopefully this weekend we'll be able to cut the ribbon and put building to good use! I would be good to welcome you back to Little Acre for 2024. Paul

It was a bit wet but a really nice little site. It was just what we needed to get our holiday started and as a stop off up to Scotland. The only real downside was the traffic noise but then this was a positive in that it was so close to the motorway to stop off. The owner couldn't do enough for us.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Tori. I think that the traffic noise you heard could have been some of the agricultural kit going past, as they were working late whilst you were here. Travel safely. Paul
