Bruce and Sandy helped us set up. Lovely people, helped us with a lot of the stuff (hooking up electric, etc.) considering it was our very first time in a campervan. There was a bench on our pitch as well (which we missed at our next campsite). The wash areas were not too far and everything worked. It's only 20 minute drive to Scafell Pike, so if you're planning on hiking that early in the morning then, this is a good choice.

Very beautiful place, with lots of facilities. I got my van stuck in the wet grass and early in the morning, the owner pulled me out - really lovely service and would highly recommend.

This site was really great. We used it as a base so we could visit various places from here. The staff were nice and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely come here again.

Probably one of the best shower and loo blocks we've experienced. So clean. Being picky - the push button on the shower, warm water and no shelves. But the cleanliness was spot on. A nice friendly welcome as well.

Our stay at Parkgate Farm was amazing - we can't believe they have only been open since earlier this year. We wanted to stay somewhere in the Lakes that had access to the coast and the Lakes and the site is perfectly located within easy access to both. The site is sloped and perfectly frames a long valley view towards Scafell Pike - beautiful backdrop which was constantly changing with the weather. At night, there is a fantastic sky where you can see hundreds of stars - if you can get a clear night! The Site Managers - Sandy & Bruce - were so lovely, welcoming and helpful, always checking that we were OK and giving us some good tips. The facilities were immaculate - new, bright and spotless. There are some lovely walks from the campsite through adjacent woodland which was perfect for walking the dog in the morning/evening. There are even lots of friendly donkeys who were very happy to see us and our bag of carrots. There are also a number of good pubs within a very short drive that provided excellent food and a well stocked Spar/Petrol Station very close by for any shopping bits and bobs. We had an excellent week here and had no issues setting up the caravan at all. We would highly recommend staying at Parkgate Farm to anyone!

Excellent campsite, very friendly atmosphere. Perfect for location - both Wast Water, hills and the beach. Only minor drawback for us was that the nearest pub was a 40 minute walk. Of course, some folks may view this as a big positive.

Beautiful place, superbly run. Some travel needed for groceries but not a real problem. Managers of the site deserve a special mention for their warmness and attention to detail.

What a lovely campsite! There aren't too many pitches, which makes the site quiet and peaceful. The site wardens, Sandy and Bruce, are very friendly and come round to check on all of the guests daily. It is clear that they take pride in their site! The facilities are modern and kept very clean. We wish we had spent longer here, and would definitely come back if we were in the area!

Where do I start?! Absolutely amazing. Very clean and tidy. The site wardens Sandy and Bruce really make your stay extra special. They make sure you have everything you need and want, nothing is too much trouble for them. They make you feel so welcome always going that extra mile for you. They go round each pitch checking everything is ok for you and spend time getting to know you and have a good chin wag. The site is beautiful with stunning views of the mountains, they also have their own donkeys which is just too cute! Highly recommend this campsite and we will be back to visit.

This is a lovely, small campsite with a range of places to stay if camping isn't your thing. The facilities were perfect - always clean and I had no problem accessing them at any time. We wish we'd booked longer but it had been booked for the bank holiday weekend- we would have stayed longer! The only negative point -which was specific to our stay only, and was dealt with effectively and kindly - was some other campers didn't respect the 11pm quiet time. I personally don't think this camp suits large groups, it's perfect for smaller respectful groups/families. Children young and old, even if noisy(/just being kids!), wouldnt be a problem here. The problem was just the lateness of the noise in such a beautifully quiet area. Issue dealt with in a kind, direct and courteous manner - definitely wouldn't stop me coming here again. Next time we'd love to stay for longer! Thank you Sandy and Bruce!

This campsite was great! The toilets and showers were lovely and the site wardens were very friendly and on hand. It was very nice they came round every evening to check in and see if we wanted a fire pit for the evening. The view from the campsite was stunning, and the walks around the site were great. There were outdoor games provided which is great for children and the donkeys make a fun addition! The glamping pods on the site look amazing too. Our only suggestion is to add soap into the toilet rooms with the showers in.
Beautiful site, fantastic wardens

What a fantastic little site. We stayed for a week and had a great holiday. We are a family of four with two young children under the age of 3. Lovely quiet site with fantastic views, great location with lots of things to do. We highly recommend visiting West water lake, absolutely stunning, especially on a sunny day. We had a day out on the Ravensglass steam train which both myself and my husband as well as our two children loved. Definitely worth the money. The site is small but great if you want a quiet peaceful stay or, if you have children and need to keep them entertained. They have donkeys that you can go and see, there is a lovely walk around the site which walks straight through the donkey field, my little girl loved stroking them. The wardens have provided two boxes of outdoor toys which can be brought out onto the grass area in the middle of the field. There is plenty of room to run about and lots of room between the pitches. You can hire fire pits as well as wood, firefighters and s'mores packs (big hit with the my husband). The toilet and shower block is great, brand new, so clean and the showers are amazing! There is a washing machine as well as a clothes maiden that you can borrow to dry your clothes. The site is a mixture of caravans, little wooden glamping pods and tents, which is a great balance. Bruce and Sandy (wardens) are the most attentive wardens we have ever met, they are wonderful. Such lovely people, they are on hand and you will see them everyday morning and evening without fail. They are so knowledgeable of the area and will go out of there way to make sure you have a wonderful holiday. They are great with the children and just really kind and lovely people. We can't recommend this site enough, for both people with children and without. We will definitely be returning. Thank you Park Gate Farm, Sandy and Bruce for making our holiday so wonderful.

Perfect spot for camping, mark areas for tents, easy to find following google maps, views are amazing. Owners are really nice and helpful, there are toilets, showers and a prep area with sink - all that you would need with family. Fantastic place, we will return for sure.

Fantastic place views are outstanding and the two Wardens Bruce & Sandy obviously enjoy their job and take pride in the place, are extremely helpful and friendly. With the cleanliest toilets and shower facilities we have ever camped in (hotels have been worse). Will definitely re-visit.

We stayed at Parkgate for four nights in July and had a great time. The facilities are modern and clean and the layout of the campsite gives plenty of space for kids to play without getting in anyone's way, which was perfect for our toddler (who also loved the donkeys!). The area is much quieter than the tourist hotspots in the Lakes, but just as nice.
Lovely campsite!

A really lovely campsite with stunning views! Each tent pitch comes with a picnic bench, which I thought was a really nice touch. The toilets and showers were really nice and clean. The washing facilities were good too and not far from any of the pitches/pods. We were shown around one of the cabins too which was gorgeous, we definitely want to look at booking one of those soon as well. Would definitely return for camping too as we really enjoyed the stay there. We spoke to the owner and the wardens who were all lovely and happy to help with any questions. There are a couple of pubs which are less than an hour's walk from the site. We felt very safe on the site.
