Was our first camping trip away and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The site was clean, tidy and the facilities were better than I expected. There was plenty of hot water, wasn't over crowded and everything was clean. I would definitely like to revisit the campsite again.

A lovely site to stay. We took two of our grandchildren (10 & 5). Walking distance to the bay goes through farm and woodland. So peaceful. Facilities were clean and in good order with plenty of free hot water, which was a real treat for us. The pitch size for our 4.5 bell tent was more than adequate. It was very busy during our stay and we're happy to see people camping again after the pandemic. Only suggestion I have would be to limit the number of dogs per unit. During our stay there were a group of people who must have had dog kennels or were breeders. When all the dogs started yapping at the same time it was quite a sound! Of course they won't be there every week, and some people will love to see them all taking a walk, but 9 dogs were a little too loud for us. It seems every unit had a dog though so if you don't like dogs, it may not be ideal. We had a great couple of days and have nothing but good things to say. Would recommend and would definitely be booking to stay again.

Thank you for your review. We do not allow more than 2 dogs per pitch. This must have been various families coming together.

The campsite is extremely well maintained. Idyllic walk into Robin Hood's Bay through a wood, straight out of the campsite, no need to be on the roads... We have dogs so a short ride to Sandsend Beach, this is a long stretch of sand and is great for the dogs. You can also walk into Whitby from it, keeping an eye on the tide.

The park was in a great location with Robin Hoods Bay a short walk and great pub the 'Fylingdales Inn' just around the corner. There are also great bus links to Whitby and Scarborough. My only criticism was the facilities seemed a bit dated. The taps wouldn't stay on and we had to fill the sink to wash our hands. There were also no bins around the field, the only bin was the far end of the park. There were newer facilities near reception but we were on the caravan field so too far for a quick WC usage.
Site's response
Thank you for the first part of your review. As regards the second part, the taps are press taps, which are like that to stop people leaving the water running - very important these days! There are no bins around the field for a reason, as people do not like camping near rubbish bins. Also, there are no wasps about either. We do have a refuse point at the entrance to the camping field which you would pass every day!
Great time!

No need for a blow up bed, the grass is soft enough! Pushing pegs in is like putting a hot knife through butter. 10min walk to Robin Hood's Bay and lovely views all round. Only bad thing was my own kids, won't be bringing them next time.

Stayed here after first visiting over twenty years ago. The site was great then and is still great! Pitched on the family field which is a short walk to the facilities which were extremely clean. Reception was really helpful and the location cannot be beaten. Short walk to the Robin Hoods Bay which has a few places to eat and great little pubs.

Nice sized pitch area, facilities were nice and clean with good running hot showers. Location was brilliant for both a walk into Robin Hood's Bay, and a cycle along the cinder track to Scarborough, which was a fantastic ride. Would definitely recommend.

Great site. Facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean, however, there is no shop on site. A short walk into the village, but just be aware that Robin Hoods Bay is a very hilly area. The village is quaint and has a real olde world feel, but is at the bottom of a very steep part of the coast so may not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues, particularly because there is no parking available at the bottom of the main part of the village. Apart from that, highly recommended!
Site's response
Thank you for your excellent review. We do not have a shop on site because if we did, we would put the local shop (5 mins walk into the village) out of business! A level walk to the shop is all part of your holiday experience!

One week at Middlewood Farm

We have just spent one week at Middlewood Farm and we have a mixed review. We do not have a dog and we do not dislike them, there are rules to keep dogs on leads but some owners consider this not to apply to them, we witnessed a few dogs not on leads and a dog marking its territory on an awning. If I had reported it, I could have been considered a dog hater and the owners should police the rules but we didn't see anyone checking the site. Some reviews were poor on the W.E. and shower facilities but we found them suitable, clean and the showers hot. We never had to queue so I can't see why people say there are not enough. My only comment is that although they are cleaned daily, the floor could do with a deep clean and the mats had seen better days. The site is well situated for Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby and Scarborough. We would advise when booking to be clear on the pitch size required, we booked hard standing because of the weather, but found our pitch (No 10) far too small even for our 2 berth van, our car had to go in a pod parking spot. After all that, we would recommend Middlewood Farm and would stay again. We found the lady on reception polite and informative and the facilities good enough.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. As regards your statement that we should "police" the site. It would not be acceptable to other people if we did that. We do expect guests to take some responsibility for their dogs. If they do not, then they will be spoken to.

Little pitch issue but that was solved instantly and with no hesitation. Great pitch in touring area, not beside the kids park. Everything was easy. The shower block was close by and clean. Campers should also take ownership to ensure they leave toilets, sinks etc clean. Butchers was a 10 min walk. We had pizza on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Shop at the top of bank sell breakfast buns. We had Sunday lunch in the pub which was great value and very tasty and only 10 min from the site. The bus back from Whiby was the X93 and it was £2 for a single.

Fab position for Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby and I'm sure there were other places nearby. Everything you want for a relaxing place. The only fault was the WIFI, I paid to have WIFI for my granddaughter but could not receive it unless I was stood at reception, I did not mind paying if I got connection.

We had a lovely stay in the camping pod. Really comfy mattresses. Good sized fridge, microwave and kettle and the heater was lovely. We're used to camping so this felt like luxury to us. Facilities lovely and clean. Plenty of showers and hot water. Gorgeous walk to Robin Hood's Bay and a quick drive to Whitby. Thank you, we had a great time

I absolutely loved it with 2 young children. The reception team were very friendly and really helpful. Pods are simple, clean and comfortable. Toilet block and showers again very clean, will definitely be back. 10 minutes walk to Robin Hoods Bay either over the fields or on the road. Great little place
