Lovely park, would be nice if you could get every day food in the restaurant.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Angela. The on site Thai restaurant is not licenced, but many guests appreciate being able to bring their own wine and beer. There is a pub in the village which you can walk to in 15-20 minutes.

Very impressed with the site and facilities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our pitch had hedges both sides which we liked. We would definitely stay here again.

Clean, well maintained site. Private secluded hard standing pitch. Reception helped us set up the smart electric meter, easy to use, very economical. Nice woodland walk to local shop and pub. Showers and toilet facilities were modern and immaculate. Look forward to returning and trying the Thai restaurant onsite.

Myself and my family stayed at Hill Cottage Farm in May 2024. The site was easy to find, well maintained and easy to navigate. The pitches were also very well maintained and we felt relaxed straight away. It was quiet and had lots of amenities which where of a very high standard. We ate at the onsite Thai restaurant on the Saturday night and the food was fabulous. I would highly recommend this for so many reasons as everything was great!
Site's response
Thank you so much for your great review. I'll pass your compliments on to the team, it's always nice to know their hard work is appreciated.

Nice quiet and well kept little site with good sized private pitches in the fully-serviced hardstanding areas. Staff really friendly and very helpful. Good easy access in and out. The pay-as-you-go electric top up is a bit of a faff, especially if the internet signal drops out, but the staff can top up in reception for you if need be. You do need to keep a check on the electric account though to make sure it doesn't run out in the middle of the night, leaving your fridge without power. Luckily ours went in the evening whilst watching the TV so we knew it had gone. All in all a great site, thanks for a lovely stay.

Love the automation, sometimes you do not need the Hi-de-Hi treatment, just arrived and park up, log you electric online and all go. Lovely site, good facilities and pitch size made it not feel full. Good walks and fishing available, dark skies at night too. Simple on site shop in case of essentials. Will be returning soon.
Site's response
Thank you for your lovely review Tony, see you at the end of the month.

Great site but a shame about the electricity system

Excellent site with privacy on every pitch. We loved it but the smart meter system stinks 😷 Firstly, you pay up front for your electricity, not knowing how much you will need or use then if you don't pay for enough, you are cut off. If you overpay, you get charged £1.50 to get your money back. It feels like a way of getting more money out of you. I'm guessing if you've only got £2 left when leaving, most people would say don't bother with the 50p after deductions. I didn't. I loved this site but this has put me off ever going again. Smart meter, fine, I get that, but take details and charge for the amount used on departure. You can hardly do a runner the site has ANPR.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Gary. I'm glad you liked the site but it's unfortunate that the electric payment system didn't suit you. We're finding that most guests do like it and appreciate only paying for the electricity they use rather than an average of all users. We have lowered the pitch fees this year by £3/night to take account of the separate electric payment and most users are using less than that - campers, tents and motor homes usually less than £1/night, so they are all making a saving compared to last year. Money pre-paid for electricity, and not used, remains on your account for the duration of the 2024 season. We're happy to process a refund for any money left over but we do make a £1.50 admin charge to cover the bank fees. Sadly we have had people leave without paying as anyone registered on the barrier can, of course, leave at any time. Had you come into reception to discuss this prior to departure we would have been able to agree the refund, we don't like anyone to leave the site unhappy and are very sorry that you felt this way.

Play park needs more equipment for children. Washing up block could do with another washing up drainer. None of this would stop me coming back again. Wi-Fi is weak.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The play park is scheduled for improvement for next season.

We stayed with granddaughter for a long weekend, she enjoyed the small playground and horses and donkeys in the forest. Campsite's facilities nice and clean, great option take away on site. For electricity, you have to pay on top, which we felt made the stay more expensive then other sites.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. A lot of guests seem to prefer paying individually for their electricity and are commenting that they find it cheaper, I guess it depends how much you use.
Will be back

We had a fully serviced pitch and requested one near to the toilets and showers, they accommodated our wishes by giving us one of the nearest. The pitches are of a very good size, although you will need heavy duty pegs if using an awning. We liked the new system for obtaining the electric to our hook-up, as this worked out cheaper for us than the usual sites we visit. Would fully recommend the site and will use again.
Site's response
Thank you Terry, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you again soon.

Very very pleasant campsite. Wouldn't use it in peak season as I don't believe amenities would cope with a full site. Clean and very approachable staff. I didn't think the campsite shop would offer enough when in peak season but there is a Co-op 5 mins away. Pub was nice but I do not recommend ordering from Just Eat as we had an absolutely shocking delivery!
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I hope I can reassure you that in peak season we add more stock to the shop and the amenities do cope. We have 2 shower and toilet blocks which are regularly maintained by the team. I think Just Eat have only just reached us, they will be bringing the food from at least 6 miles away and look to only currently have 2 options. We have an on site Thai restaurant and takeaway, which is all cooked freshly to order and offers a couple of children's options too.

We had 3 fabulous nights at this site and we will be back. The new toilet/shower block is lovely and clean. The showers were nice and hot and there was a hairdryer in the ladies toilets. There is also a family wet room. The shop is not too badly stocked for essentials and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. We did not have electric hookup so unable to comment on how that worked/lasted. Fordingbridge is a lovely little town.

Thank you for your review, Amanda.

We had an amazing time. So peaceful and relaxing, nature at its best. The site was clean, the grass cut, and the garden tendered. We couldn't fault this site. On our first night, we had a problem with our hook up lead, I contacted the wardens out of hours and they were amazing. They let us borrow a lead until we could purchase a new one the next day. If we had anything negative to say, would be the lack of goods on offer at the shop, maybe more in peak season? Definitely be back. Many thanks, Hill cottage. G&C Wilson.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave your great review, it's always lovely to hear that the team's efforts are appreciated. We do stock a bit more in the shop when we're busier and there's a Co-op in the village which is only 15 minutes walk. See you soon!

Excellent site. The pitches were nicely spaced out, with hedges between. Toilets and showers were very clean. We didn't use any electricity so didn't pay, but understand you can just put £2 on to start with if you're not sure how much you'll use. Moor Valley Park is a fab visit and not too far. Great location and great site.

The first campervan we rented broke down, then the second; the third got us there a day late. Hill Cottage Farm were very understanding and helpful about our troubles about having to constantly log new number plates on the ANPR system; and when we got there, the rest of the week was wonderful. I would recommend Hill Cottage Farm to anyone, and hope we can stay there again, soon.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review John. Glad you got here eventually and enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you both again soon.

We stayed 2 nights, the first night we were woken up by shouting and screaming from a nearby caravan. We felt the small retail shop was also poorly stocked with no coffee 😞 Clean facilities and hot showers.
Site's response
We switched the coffee machine on at the start of the season and sadly it has malfunctioned, we have the engineer booked to come and sort it this week. We can only apologise that we didn't test it sooner. Unfortunately we had some very badly behaved guests your first night. It is very unusual for us and our staff were equally unhappy with a very disturbed night, during which they visited the guests several times to ask them to be quiet. The rowdy guests were not allowed to stay and left the following day. We are very conscious of keeping a peaceful site and this was an unfortunate one off.

A nice, smaller scale camping site on the edge of the New Forest area. Fordingbridge is a short drive away and there are nice towns and villages around to spend time. We stayed on possibly the wettest Monday in March ever on record. It was so bad that we spent 23 out of 24 hours on one day inside the camper. There appears to be nice walking tracks close to the site but we could not access them due to the wet conditions. Staff at the site are very helpful.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, sorry about the rain! Hopefully you can come back with better weather next time.
