Bwch yn Uchaf is set in the heart of Snowdonia (Eryri) National Park and within a 30 minute walk of Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), making it a great base for outdoor adventures. With almost no light pollution, the site offers some amazing starry night skies and you can pitch where you like, even next to the river! Little ones will love the play park, splashing in the River Twrch and the charming chug of Bala Lake Railway next door. Dog friendly too.

Good location but felt showers were too far away and facilities were basic

Very good location. The showers were too far away from the camping area and had very basic facilities.

Really good place with lots of things to do around. Gorgeous town 10 mins away in the car with lovely cafes, restaurants and bars. Receptionist was lovely and very helpful. The location can be a bit difficult to find only because the postcode covers a wide range of properties, but once you know what to look for, the railway station sign, you're good to go. Would definitely come back.

Lovely site and very clean, just a shame the weather was miserable, typical British weather.

We had a really lovely stay (despite some changeable weather!). The site is clean, tidy, and really scenic, and has everything you need for a quiet stay in the heart of Wales. Check-in was super easy with the friendly owner and there were plenty of pitches to choose from. There is a river that runs through the site so you need to keep an eye on the kids but there are pitches away from the river and a nice little play park for them. The town of Bala is a short drive away where there is a good butcher and bakery, small supermarket and a fabulous shop selling Welsh distillery gins, whisky's, beers and more - highly recommended!

Great campsite, had a fab 4 night stay. Beautiful pitch right by the river. Only slight issue was that the shower block was far from the non-electric pitches, but loos & cleaning station very close. Would definitely go back :)
Beautiful, clean, blissfully peaceful

Ideally positioned for the key tourist attractions in North Wales, 20 minutes drive from the Mach Loop car park, near a massive lake (Lake Bala) offering all manner of water sports, and set in stunning countryside with virtually no light pollution, this family friendly site surely cannot be beaten. The friendly, 'nothing is too much trouble' owners work hard to keep the place immaculate and the campsite rules are far from draconian. If I could make one tiny criticism, it would be to repair the track around the speed bumps as they are savage, but then again, no one is going to speed on the site. Whether in a campervan with extended family or a solo motorcycle with a pop-up tent, you will not be disappointed.

For a quieter trip to the area, the perfect location. Easy to get places but a quiet site with lots of different areas. Fantastic dog run and lovely to camp by the river. Great views.

A lovely weekend break for hubby's 40th, the setting is beautiful and the kids loved the park! We took the little train into town and despite dubious weather got out on the lake for some paddle-boarding. Would recommend.

It's a lovely campsite in a lovely location. You have a pub and shop nearby. Train to Bala Lake. Plenty space for pitches. Definitely will be staying there again.

A lovely peaceful site just a few minutes from Bala. It has the steam train station right next door, with a lovely little museum there. The river runs through the site and is perfect for children to go paddling and playing. There is a park for children which my daughter absolutely loved. Good facilities and they are kept clean and tidy. My daughter (8) is already asking to come back here, which we definitely will. People were respectful of being quiet after 10pm, which is nice when coming with children. All in all, a great little place.

Really great location. Views are amazing and right in the middle of nowhere, so the stars are so clear. Plenty of space to choose from where to pitch. Only downside is the shower block is a bit of a walk away from the non-electric pitches, but that's it.

Beautiful campsite! We loved our stay here Gareth and Bethan were so helpful, the facilities were always clean and it was a pretty and peaceful place to stay. On a clear night, the stars are so bright and getting to choose your own pitch is a real bonus!

Been here 2 or 3 times now and it has never disappointed. I have had the site to myself once and been in peak August when it was a lot more busy and each time the facilities were of perfect standard. Great steam train station right next door that can take you to Bala for a walk round the local bars, pubs and cafes. Stayed in many campsites this year and this is up there as the best.

The owners are wonderful people, they were so helpful and everything was so clean. The views from the sight are wonderful, I am definitely going back again, I was in a tent but there is hard standing for caravans.

We loved this campsite as soon as we arrived. We were a group of 6 adults and 3 children all family. We had the perfect pitch for us all. Facilities were very clean. The river was beautiful. The train station is literally on the site and we was fortunate enough to of picked the weekend when the steam train gala was. We took the steam train to Bala Lake and spent the day there. The pub in the village was lovely which also had a shop within the pub with all the essentials and much more. Only downside to the weekend was that it was a cold one but we were allowed a fire with our own wood, so that was perfect for us. We will be back again no doubt in the next couple of years.

Arrived on a Thursday, lovely location, and was a quiet site. Forgot it was a bank holiday weekend, so by Friday afternoon, the campsite was a hive of noisy activity with children running around everywhere! The facilities were good and, generally, clean and the site owner was a regular sight around the place. The only downside for us was the number of dogs left to run free, which our own leashed/tethered dog found unsettling and annoying and left us feeling a little on edge. Would happily return to the campsite, but not in the school holidays, and not over a bank holiday weekend.

I was looking for a site that was as close to wild camping as it could be but with hot showers, toilet and fresh water facilities. This is it! The location is stunning - high hills, pasture, running river, wildlife and a local steam train station right next door. As a single lady in a campervan, I was hoping for a quiet spot from where I could walk, sit and read without too much distraction and noise. The non electric site near the river was perfect. Once other campers had left and before the weekenders arrived, I had the whole area to myself and I was so happy, so if you are in search of the same getaway, I would recommend checking in during term time and not near a bank holiday weekend! My only suggestion would be to supply a small shelf in the showers to put flannels, soap, shower gel, shampoo etc when showering, instead of the floor - water from next door showers run through - not nice, and the shower heads themselves which are non adjustable, are pointing at the curtain which means all the floor gets very wet, including shoes etc if you're not aware. A well run and maintained site and the value for money is excellent. I'm looking forward to returning as soon as I can.
Amazing!

Absolutely loved our stay, very well set out and run campsite. We loved the fact there was the sound of the stream to fall asleep to and the views were stunning. The sky at night was beautiful.
