Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both 15 minutes away). Just across the road, about a five minute walk away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

Just got back from Little Acre, site is friendly, clean and well run. Little extras like shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, cotton wool pads and nail files. In the wash up and laundry, you find washing up liquid and washing pods. All I can say is we will be back and will recommend it to tenting and motorhome friends 😁

Fantastic place. The facilities were excellent. Showers and toilets were spotless and clean, there's a pub over the road. The petrol station 2 min away do a fantastic bacon banquet, toasties and pies at reasonable prices. There's a lovely walk down the canal that goes for miles and miles, we will definitely be going back.

Great welcome from the site owner. Lovely scenery, although quite close to a fairly busy road. All of the facilities were spotless and showers were great (20p for 3 mins). Local pub across road was very busy and could not get a food reservation due to its popularity. No issues whatsoever and will return.
Site's response
Hi Stephen, we'd love to have you come back as well ! Yes, the pub is very popular and the food that they do (when you can get a table!) is very good. See you next time, Paul.

Excellent campsite, very quiet and the owner is very welcoming. The cleanest toilet and shower blocks I've ever experienced on a campsite. There is a pub just across the road and the location is perfect for driving out to different places. 10/10 recommend.

What a fabulous site this is. As soon as we arrived, we felt so relaxed. The site is absolutely spotless and the facilities are amazing. Paul was very welcoming and helpful. We visited the pub over the road, which was lovely. Watching a movie by the fire pit after a BBQ was the absolute highlight, and our 2 little doggies just loved being outdoors all weekend. We will definitely be back!

Hi Lisa, you packed a lot into such a short length of time! We'd love to host you again. Paul & Sarah.

Paul was an extremely helpful and pleasant guy. The canal walks were beautiful and the Crooklands pub food was delish. The site itself was as expected - great showers, pot washing facilities even had washer and dryer! Hairdryer free to use. Showers 20p for 3 mins, more than enough time to wash body and hair. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel all provided, as is washing up liquid. Lovely, large, green space with electricity hook up if required and fresh cumbrian drinking water on tap along the field! Great site and area we will definitely return - Tracey, Roy and Staffie Halle.

Thank you for staying with us Roy and leaving such a lovely review. I'm glad that it went so well for the 3 of you. Paul

What a delight this campsite is. This has to be one of the most friendly, clean and well run campsites I have ever stayed at. The showers and toilets are second to none! Will be back and will be telling everyone I know about this.

This site is perfect for anyone looking to explore the Lake District. The location is excellent, with Bowness 25 minutes away and Kendal just 10 minutes down the road. The facilities are excellent with brand new, regularly cleaned toilet and shower facilities. The staff are extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions, especially Paul who was always willing to help with any queries. All for a great price.

Right from the get-go it was a great experience. The owner greeted us and showed us the facilities and advised a good tent spot. The toilets and showers were amazing, well worth the 20p charge, heated, free shower gel, conditioner, body wash - and it's well maintained. Good location as it's a short drive to the lakes.

Lovely little campsite close to M6. Owner is lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The toilet block is built to a high standard and always clean. Don't forget 20p for your shower (3 mins) you can get change from the site office. Pub is 2 minutes walk and serves lovely food. You do need to book in advance though. Lovely walk/cycle along the canal. Close to Lake Windermere and Kendall. Great little pub in next village up which was a 15 minute walk. We went to watch the Scotland v Hungary match and were made to feel very welcome. There's a great baker shop across the road from this pub which is also very good. Milnthorpe is a 10 minute drive, where you can find a small supermarket and lots of options for food take away. We had pizza from Flame and curry from no3. Can recommend both of these places. Took off 1 star for location only due to traffic noise. I used earplugs and managed to sleep.

Lovely little campsite with excellent and clean facilities. Dog friendly, we have 4 dogs, and great walks from the doorstep. Pub across the road and as some people have said, it's sometimes hard to book a table but they serve meals in the bar, which was empty when we went. Paul and Sarah are the perfect hosts and they are clearly constantly investing in the site. If you take a twin axle, be careful of the turn in and out as it's a bit tight, but fine if you're careful. This will become our "go to" weekend retreat as it's accessible for everything you need and a perfect little gem.
Site's response
Hi Tim, I'm glad that your stay went so well with us and we'd love to host you again. The access is exactly as you described - come through the entrance cautiously in your caravan and all is good. One thing that I've changed for 2024 is that I don't take bookings for 8ft wide caravans, as the extra width of them makes a big difference. It will be lovely to host the 6 of you again. Paul.

After a 6 hour drive (taking few stops on my way for my dog) when I arrived, it was raining, and I was not looking forward to pitching my tent in the rain. I bit the bullet and started. Paul, seeing me on my own, immediately came over to help even though he was getting wet himself and between us, we got it up in no time. The camp is outstanding, with electric hook-ups and a few drinking water taps, which means you don't have to walk far from your tent to collect water. The showers are spacious and have great quality shower gel, shampoo and conditioner supplied. They're coin operated, just 20p for 3 mins and I found 40p worth enough time for luxurious shower. The toilets are again, quite spacious and everything is spotless, no matter what time day/night you use them. Also, there is a washing up station, again with washing up liquid provided (handy if you've forgotten yours or run out) and a washing machine and tumble dryer (coin operated). Everything you could ask for. The whole site and owners are impeccable, I cannot fault anything. Next to the camp is a canal where you can have lovely walks with/without your dogs and across the road is the Crooklands Hotel where you can have lovely meals, though you do need to book. All in all, I had an amazing stay and will definitely return.
Site's response
Hi Julie, Except for the soggy weather when you arrived (which wasn't ideal), I'm glad that your break was a success and that you enjoyed yourself so much. For your next visit, I'll try and organise some sunshine to greet you with! Paul.

The wash block was possibly the best we've ever experienced. Looks great, well supplied, clean, close to pitches, never had to wait to use. The couple that welcomed us on arrival and showed us to out pitch were friendly and helpful. Grounds well maintained and ground easy to push in tent pegs. Good location. Recommend booking ahead to get a table in the pub over the road, it was fully booked for us to walk in. Plenty of options to eat in the area.
