Quiet site and ideal for our short stay. Very close and convenient to the Pilgrim Fathers pub/restaurant, 5 mins walk away. Downside, we waited at the locked gate entrance for quite a while. We rang several phone numbers but no reply to any of them. Luckily for us, a local resident camper came to our rescue. He opened the gate and told us the pass number and where the number box was situated outside the gate. He told us to wait outside the closed entrance hut. After an hour we decided to park up and plug into some electricity. This helpful chap, who'd got us through the gates, gave us a phone number to ring. A man answered and told us which plug-in to use. No member of staff ever visited us so we have no idea who the warden was. We won't be returning to this site. It was rather expensive, considering the lack of welcome.

Nice enough site, remote enough to be quiet, close enough to town for good food and beer. Struggled to get a shower as there was only one and always seemed to be in use in the mornings. Not many tent camping pitches, seemed to be mainly statics and tourers but the usual camping camaraderie. Only other bugbear was something beeping all night for two nights that was definitely not in my tent.

This was our first camping trip as new campers and we chose this campsite due to a concert that we had booked at the local zoo. Upon entry, we were greeted by Steve as the owner was away in America. Steve was great, a lovely, friendly guy who couldn't have done more for us if he tried. He helped in every way he could, even giving us tips about the tent and the local area for food. The site itself was very disappointing. As first time campers, I was expecting the friendly and bubbly atmosphere that most campsites provide, smelling everyone's else's breakfast in the morning, being able to socialise with other campers. However, this campsite is full with semi and permanent residents. We felt awkward making any kind of noise or being outside of the tent as no one else did this and found it would be disrespectful when the site is technically their home. The patch of land we were on was so bone dry that we ended breaking or bending every tent peg we had trying to hammer them into the ground. The facilities were okay. We were told of a water pressure issue in the ladies' shower, so to use the men's, which can be awkward and the ladie's loo was leaking from the bottom, which was reported on day 2 and was still leaking when we left. Overall, it did us location wise for the concert as it was nearby but was not a pleasant camping experience for our first trip as we didn't feel welcome by the other campers/caravaners and felt like we were imposing.

Nice, quiet site. However, toilets were another thing. Not very clean and never any loo roll and the female shower (unfortunately not an 's' at the end of 'shower') wasn't working, so I had to wait until the shower in the male toilet was free so I could use that but, that went from roasting hot to freezing cold every few seconds. I was informed at checking in it wasn't working and was told they were waiting until site was quieter before they fixed it. Not a good enough as I feel this should be looked at right away. Site not near anything, apart from a pub at end of road but it had really bad reviews, so didn't eat there but did have a drink once and all the coasters were stuck to the tables due to the uncleanliness.

Excellent location well away from the main road. Security gate and decent toilet block. Ideal base for visiting Bawtrey and Harworth.

We were happy with our overnight stay, but it didn't start out well. When we arrived, the fence was closed and we couldn't reach the manager. One of the residents let us in and gave all the info we needed. A big thanks! He explained that the owner was on holiday. All is well that ends well 👍

Amazing small campsite. Very clean, quiet and peaceful and relaxing. Friendly site, staff and campers that stay through the season. Would highly recommend to any couple, small group of friends and for people starting camping for the first time.
Pleasant site let down by lack of maintenance

The site is in a good location and offers a discount at the local pub. Unfortunately, the facilities were in a poor condition, the ladies shower was in need of repair and apparently, this won't be completed until the end of this summer, which is not ideal. Access to the site is via a combination code to an electric gate, which is fine if there is someone to meet and greet - we were sat waiting for over 15 minutes waiting to gain initial access. Once onsite, the warden was very friendly and helpful. The site advertises as nobody under 16 allowed, however, the children from what I assumed was the owners property were playing on site each day. Not a major issue, but if it's advertised as no children, then it should be. We did have a peaceful 2 nights and the site could quite easily be a 5☆ one with a little TLC. We did speak to the warden regarding the issues and he was thankful for the feedback.

I booked a two night stay in a VW campervan. They were welcoming and friendly. Site clean. I only had an issue with the ladies toilet - hand dryer not working but paper towel provided, and ladies shower, pressure low but lovely and hot. Just remember soft water so a small amount or soap, shampoo, conditioner goes a long way and with low pressure takes a while to wash off. My only other eyebrow raiser was the bin area which has a notice for 'refuge area' it made me giggle! I did try hiding there, but the dog found me! I used to work in the waste industry and heard the misuse of 'refuge' and 'refuse' so often, but it's not a complaint! Great site.

Clean and tidy campsite with a spotless toilet block. Convenient to break a longer journey as site only about 3 mile from A1. Also a great pub, "The Pilgrims Fathers", at the top of the lane (about three hundred yards) with a varied and excellent menu.

A nice quiet, secure site. The shower block, however, is very poor. Only 1 shower cubicle (1 for male and 1 for female) for 30 pitches. The men's shower was adequate, the female shower wasn't fit for showering, there was low pressure, it was falling off the wall and in a poor state of repair. Also, the hand drier didn't work and the toilet roll wasn't replaced. There was a lovely little pub just down the road.

The site is located down a cinder lane, between some private properties, with a great pub at the beginning of the lane. There is a bus stop near the pub, with buses running between Doncaster and Retford. Bawtry, the nearest town is a short bus-ride away (10mins) and has lots of pubs/bars and places to eat. The site itself, is small and the facilities limited. The toilets are clean, but the showering facilities need attention. The gents shower is electric but is awkward to operate, running scalding hot or freezing cold. However, with some patience and fine tuning, I managed get a shower. I am told, the shower in the ladies is a thermostatic bar shower, but the water pressure is very poor. There is a small pot wash, one drinking water point and an Elsan point. Despite the short comings mentioned above, I would return.

Had a lovely weekend at this site. Friendly, quiet and great location for the local pub that does the best Sunday dinners, and a short bus ride to Bawtry. Will be back.

Had a nice relaxing stay at Pilgrim Fathers. Small, secure site 100m off the main road down a track. Modern facilities. Lovely little village and pub.

As novice caravaners, we were a little apprehensive about campsite protocols etc, "No worries" we had a great and quiet time. The other campers around were great and very friendly. There's a very good chance we will be back later this year.

I would say 'satisfactory'. Unfortunately, the owner was off site, but we were help by another camper who gave us the key code to the security gate and helped us with parking. The electric wasn't working until 9.30pm when the owner returned. However, it was then sorted and it would have been better if alternative arrangements were made earlier. I would say it matched its price.
Could be cleaner

Quiet holiday camping. Only 1 shower for the ladies and 1 for the gents. They were filthy, the toilet paper had run out, but for one night we accepted it. Close to the A1.

Nice little site but the touring caravans are very crammed in. The priority for this site seems to be for the permanent lodges, as the touring section is very cramped and not very well organised. On arrival, it was clear that there wasn't a booked pitch for us and we were put in basically the only spot left. To my surprise, when connecting to the electric there was three "empty outlets". I had no idea where they would have gone. The site is nice and quiet and the pub 200m away is excellent.

The lane down from the pub to the site is full of very deep pot holes. Therefore, you must drive at less than a walking pace. The light in the gents shower does not work. They do not practice a re-cycling scheme. The pitches on touring side are grassed and reasonably flat, opposite are quite a few vans that look like long term campers, which are quite close together. Overall, not a bad site, but the lane does need sorting out, quite a worry that you could damage your caravan.

This is an okay site. Very safe and secure. The 200 yds drive to the entrance was horrendous, due to the depth and number of potholes.

I arrived to a good welcome from the warden and everything was pointed out for my use. The other campers on the touring pitches were very friendly and the location was nice and quiet with good walks.
