Middlehills Farm is a well established and immaculately kept family-run site, set in 40 acres of land in the heart of the Peak District. It's the perfect spot to light up a campfire and watch the flames dance, meet the farm's friendly resident pigs and pet the ponies. Soak up the tranquil atmosphere from your spacious pitch, or relax and unwind with a little more luxury in one of two quirky glamping pods.

Nicely situated campsite, fairly big. Nice park area for children, clean toilets and showers. Shop onsite is ok for camping gear and a few essentials. My main fault is that you have to pay for the showers, which is £1 for 5 minutes. If you have a couple of children and adults, this can become fairly expensive. Second fault is that it is too busy, everyone was pitched up with no personal space around tents.

Lovely park in a great location. Pros: good facilities without having to wait. Well-stocked shop on site. Good play area which kids loved. Cons: dogs have to be on lead at all times, this is understandable however a field or sectioned-off area for exercising dogs would be great. Straight onto an A road when you come out of the campsite- no walks without driving somewhere.

Hi, thanks for your review, just to let you know for future, the fields as you come up the drive are dog friendly, and happy for you to let them off there and they have just been mown.

Everything was great with this site. Location was spot on for visiting many different places and would have been equally happy to stay on site and enjoy the view. We were on the lower plot with the electric hook ups and it's perfect if you want a quiet time. The top plots were a little livelier and great for families. Chippy on site on a Saturday evening. Small shop with a great range, block of toilets and two blocks of showers (I only marked down on the showers as the water pressure was poor). We highly recommend and will be stopping again.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this excellent campsite. Toilets, showers and pot cleaning area are cleaned to a high standard everyday. The shop has essential items, there's a handy fridge/freezer in the pot cleaning area for campers and the owners Nick & Liz really went out of their way to ensure my stay was pleasant and comfortable and nothing was too much trouble for them. This was very much appreciated, thank you Nick & Liz. Would also like to thank Kevin & Carolyn who are very friendly and approachable. Great views are an added bonus. Would definitely stay again.

Me, my partner and my 3-year-old son spent the night. It was our first camping trip, and it was a lovely relaxing time. Got a lovely spot facing a field, with some very chatty sheep.

We have been to stay here twice this month. The site has lots of room with 2 fields and you choose your own space. The facilities are great with plenty of toilets/ showers/ washing up area and drinking water taps. All kept very clean. There's also a play area for children and some farm animals too! I would highly recommend staying here and we will be back again soon.

Lovely site, friendly staff. Site is well maintained and all communal areas are clean and of good standard. Lovely play area for the kids, small shop with all the necessities. This was lovely start to our camping adventures. We would definitely visit again 😊

A mixed picture for this site. Pros: lovely views, friendly shop staff, clean toilets, clean area, lovely play park, resident wandering chickens. Cons: never mind the crows, it's the relentless quarry noise that lets this site down. It was pretty much non stop our whole stay (mid week, so may not be an issue at weekends?). I appreciate this is not associated with the site but it was the biggest negative factor for our stay. Also, shower pressure is poor and Wi-Fi doesn't cover all of the site (no 3G/4G/5G).
Site's response
I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay. There's not much we can do about nature, though luckily the crows have now flown away with their yearlings. Noise levels from the quarry depend a bit on the wind direction. We will look into the water pressure as haven't had any other complaints. Being out in the middle of the countryside, I don't think we're alone in having a patchy signal in places

Great site, very family friendly, good kids play area, loads of space for outdoor games between tents, the shop is good stocking essentials plus toys/games etc to help keep kids entertained if needed from 4.30 - 6:30pm. On Saturdays they have a chip van visit which we used for our tea and it was delicious would highly recommend. The only downside was that we went for a walk, hoping to call at the Holly Bush Inn for a drink to find it was close. However this is certainly not a reflection on the campsite, would definitely stay again!

Returned home from a fabulous few days stay at Middlehills. What a lovely, friendly, spacious site. Plenty of space for each pitch and for children to play. Plenty of toilets and facilities onsite. Locality excellent with lots to do in the area. We will be back to visit again.

Excellent campsite. Very friendly welcome. Very good facilities with everything clearly signposted. Lovely clean WC block and shower block. Pitches well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. Excellent rubbish disposal and recycling. Lots of families with young children and some dogs, but they all respected the 10:30 quiet time, so I got a good night's sleep. The only slight snag is that I was told there are no walkers' footpaths directly from the campsite across the adjacent fields. The fields are signposted as private property, so it's a car journey to the nearest walking trail.

Lovely campsite, well organised and really good for children (play area, animals and lots of space, plus booster step in the washrooms). Others made negative of a quarry and it's 'noise', but it stops at night and is very ignorable so not an issue. Washrooms were very clean and the shop was well stocked with pretty much every item you could forget! Staff were helpful, friendly and nice. Good location for exploring the south of the Peak District.

Beautiful surroundings, and everything you need on site. We made use of the fish and chip van on Saturday night (cash only). Shop is really well stocked and great value. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Facilities were excellent. The site seems popular with school D of E groups, but if you don't mind rugby games being played at full volume at 9pm next to your tent, it's fab (as we have young children that woke up when the sheep on the hills did, we cannot throw any stones regarding noise). Wonderful family friendly site. We stayed one-night as a first experience for our children but are planning a longer return trip very soon.

One of the best sites we've stayed at. Definitely the best park! It did get a bit crowded but I like that you can choose where to pitch up. So easy to get to and 12 min drive to Matlock Bath. Intend to go again.

Lovely large site, plenty of space to spread out, and a food van came on Saturday evening with fish and chips and for breakfast on Sunday morning. Showers were nice and hot and kept clean. Extremely good value for money!

My partner and I stayed here for a weekend break and thoroughly enjoyed it. The showers, toilets, and general facilities are all clean and well looked after. The onsite shop is a plus too. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. We had originally booked for the Friday and Saturday nights stay, but unfortunately were not able to make it on Friday. However, they graciously allowed us to move this missed night to the Sunday and were very helpful with anything we asked about. I would recommend this site to anyone as its excellent, safe, clean, friendly and relaxing.
