We've been camping a few times with friends but this was my first time booking a site for just me, my partner and our dog. Honestly, I spent most of our stay bragging about how I knocked it out of the park on my first try π Middlewood Farm is perfectly located for what we wanted to do (some walking, sightseeing and a day trip to Whitby) and is straightforward enough to get to. The site itself was really tidy, and there was plenty of room for our large tent and car. The facilities were the best we've seen yet, plenty of toilets, showers and even a bath and all were super clean at all times. This is the only site so far where I've actually been able to do my morning routine without compromise! Suggestion wise the only thing that comes to mind would be some on-site dog bins (or better guidance if these were here, we couldn't find them!) There was a note in the site rules about not allowing dogs to foul on the site and while we're always happy to follow the rules, accidents do happen so it would be good if we had somewhere to dispose of these close by. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Middlewood Farm to anyone, we had a lovely time π

What a great place! The staff are lovely. The toilets, showers and washing up areas were spotless. The pitch was a good size too. It's a nice walk to the bay. There is a village shop and pub a short walk from the site. You can get the bus to Scarborough and Whitby from the village Β£4 return, which meant we could a a drink while we were out. We will definitely be going back.

Lovely site. Very well kept. Ignore the moaners regarding 5 minute showers, plenty of time and nice and hot. Lovely 10 minute walk to the beach.

It's a great place to stay, nothing much to do for young children, but robin hoods bay is only 2 miles away and Whitby is only 6 miles.

Thank you for your 5 star review. We do have 2 x new Play-areas on the Park which were marked on your map. Robin Hoods Bay is just 10 mins walk from our Park, through our fields!

Me and my 5 year old daughter have recently started camping. We've stayed at several sites over the past year and this is by far the best. The location is ideal. A short walk to Robin Hood's Bay. A 10 minute drive from Whitby. The facilities are great. I could see my daughter in the play area from my tent. She made lots of friends. So many friendly people! We'll definitely book again next year!

Used the glamping pods for me and my two daughters plus the dog. Stayed for two nights. Facilities good quality and clean. Not many places to eat out. The local pub was great and dog friendly but if wanting takeaway or anything have to go into Whitby or fish and chips collected from Robin Hoods Bay. It was fine as we were only there for two nights. Guess for those camping or caravanning people would just cook something. Would come again. Pod was really quiet and dark once blinds were down. Very warm on the first night. Bed really big and comfortable. We took a flat sheet and double duvet and it was perfect

Great place to stay. Pet-friendly and child-friendly. Great amenities. Great dog-walking, including a fifteen minute walk to Robin Hood bay. Bus service was great. Every 30 minutes to either Scarborough or Whitby. All in all, a great few days

Noisy, over-full site

Noisy, over-full site like camping in a busy car park. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with this site. The location and facilities were good, however, we've never been to such an overfilled site. Tents, cars and caravans were jammed together with hardly any distance between them resulting in a very noisy and stressful stay. A bit like camping in a busy car park! There was no green space for the kids to play or run about. Wouldn't recommend despite clean facilities and good location near Robin Hood's Bay.
Site's response
There was a full field adjacent to the camp field to play in. Many other guests say in their reviews that there is lots of space between tents and tourers. We are not overfull as you state, as we are below the statutory allowance for that area. We provide a very good campsite and facilities as many, many guests testify to.

We stayed august bank holiday family of 4 and a doggy non electric pitch. The pitch was nice and flat well spaced out plenty of room. The shower block was of ample size for the amount of campers using the facilities, never had to queue apart from washing our dishes (5mins). Location is perfect. Shame there's no shop onsite, but not end of the world. Would definitely return.

Thank you so much for your great review. The local general store and bakery is just 5 mins walk into the village near the Pub.

Clean friendly site. Lovely clean shower and toilets - basic but that's all I need when camping. There is within 5 to 10 minutes walk, a provisions shop, bakery and The Fylingdales Inn which offers fantastic, hearty and wholesome home cooked meals (highly recommended). Robin Hoods bay is a short walk via the road or Cindar track.

FANTASTIC review. Thank you. We provide toilets, free showers, private wash cubicles, hair dryers, hand dryers, bath, full disabled wet room, baby changing room and pot wash area......hardly basic!

Lovely weekend stay in Glamping pod. Clean and tidy with all the facilities we needed for the weekend. Great location to explore Whitby and a stroll away from Robin Hood's Bay. Plenty of restaurants and pubs in the village and Robin Hood's Bay. Shower / wash block a little dated but otherwise, a fantastic place.

Decided to go camping on a whim and found Middlewood Farm near Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby. Lovely greeting from staff on arrival, nice set up with numbered pitches. Toilet and shower block was very clean, lots of hot water for showers and pot-washing outside. Short walk to the bay which was nice. Fantastic food in the village pub at a reasonable price. We'll definitely stay here again.

A well located, large site

A well located, large site with multiple different types of accommodation. There is a local shop, a great walk down to Robin Hood's Bay and a bus stop 8 mins walk which serves Whitby (25m) and Scarborough (40m). We booked 7 nights in the family field, my family were booked on the same site too. 1 set were due to be in the family field with us but they changed to a static, so we ended up with 2 in the statics and 1 caravan and the locations are all quite separate from each other. The pitches are a decent size, however, we found it unusual that your car goes in front of the tent not to the side. The tents also all seem to be quite close together, making privacy a tad challenging. The site was full on arrival, lots of kids playing and a small play park. The kids were running all over everyone's pitches and everyone would cut across pitches to access the facilities. My personal preference is not to walk on other people's pitches and to walk around, but that's not the fault of the site. The facilities are a good size, 3 washing up sinks, laundry room & a chest freezer. In the shower block, there's around 8 toilet cubicles and 3 showers. There is a timer on the showers which I didn't know about the first time and caught me off guard. It's around 5 mins and it takes 5 mins to come back on, and then runs for another 5 mins. This can be frustrating when you're nearly finished showering and then you have to wait, and then it runs when you no longer need it to. I understand why, but I think having 1 min on a button is far more practical and would be more water saving. Also, a plastic shower curtain would be good to separate changing from the wet of the actual shower. We ended up upgrading on day 3 to a static primarily due to the weather (storm incoming, heavy winds), but also due to the frustrations we had with the showers & neighbours (neighbours are obviously not the fault of the site and this is our preference). We still paid the full price for the pitch & then full price for the static.
Site's response
The cars are parked in front of the tent for fire risk purposes! Also, cars parked at the side of the tent can drip oil or, in wet times, make indentations in the grass, which is not good when someone wants to pitch their tent there! We have reasons for all we do! With regards to the showers, people need to read the notices which are there to inform them.

Showers nice and hot. 2 free hair dryers. You have to keep pressing the green button to keep them on as they don't stay on for very long. Dish washing area is under cover. 10 min walk to beach via stony path, take this into consideration if you have difficulty walking. Sea is not one for swimming in. If you get to sea, the beach when the tide is out, you will see all the rocks and cracks in the rocks. Great for rock pooling though. Tide comes in quickly, bear this in mind if you are out walking on all the rocks. We witnessed 2 young children being rescued by a paddle boarder as the 2 children were stranded on the rocks with the sea all around them. The campsite has a field with a small children's play area.

On arrival, staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The pitches are a good size and the views are stunning. Nice walk into Robin Hood's Bay and bus from Fylingthorpe to Whitby and Scarborough if you don't fancy the walk along the old railway track. We stayed on a very busy weekend, so noisy until about 10pm with children playing, then settled down and quiet overnight, apart from odd farm animal but we expect that staying on a farm and was quite nice! Facilities are okay but not really big enough for the volume of people staying, no room to move or use handwashing sinks in the female facilities, there is another block near reception though, but cannot comment on them as never used. My husband used the dish washing area, water warm and lights appeared to not work? Again, may be overuse as busy. We stayed without electricity and was pricier than most places we've stayed at, but you can't beat the views and we'd certainly consider staying again.

The site is perfectly located just 15 minutes-ish walk from the bustling beach of Robin Hoods Bay (keep an eye out on tide information!) Just 15/20 minutes drive into Whitby (we recommend using the park and ride so easy and Β£2.80 day ticket) Has loads of walks that you can access from the site. It did get a lot busier on the Friday compared to midweek meaning there were queues for showers, toilets and washing up areas, but the water was always hot. Not much space for the dog to run around so if they are not used to being on a lead go when it's quieter. We will return here. The pod had everything we needed, spacious and comfortable. Thank you!
Site's response
Thank you for your review. It is appreciated. It is a requirement of the park that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.

This is a large site but it was very well-managed. The facilities were always available and clean. Clear instructions on where to set out your pitch. No wi-fi, it could be purchased for an additional charge. The location was perfect, less than a miles walk to Robin Hoods Bay and only 6 miles walk along the coast to Whitby. Plenty of buses available to Whitby and Scarborough. Would recommend.

Not for us, more for young kids

Paid for 2 nights but left after the first, lots of rules about dogs, but kids running wild amongst the pitches. Not for couples or adults, more of a big crèche. Facilities lacking but I can imagine with the large amount of families, must be hard to keep on top of it. Just not enough for amount of demand. Locations okay, got some nice walks nearby that were relatively peaceful. Robin Hood's Bay isn't a nice beach and the place is rammed with people. But, if you're a family with young kids, I'm sure it's fine.
