VW-Type Campervan - Standard Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

Nice location with lovely night skies, friendly staff. Not as clean as some of the sites we’ve been to at similar cost, but adequate for a couple of nights. Short drive in to Banburgh and Seahouses where’s there’s plenty to see and good fooderies. Fabulous Pizza Company close to the site, but recommend you pre-order!

Glamping Cabin - River View Huts (Double and Two Single Beds)Sep 2024

We stayed in this great little site for a few nights, in a beautiful area, access from the campsite to the England coast path, Lindisfarne one way, Bamburgh the other, amazing views over wild countryside and the sea. We stayed in number 9, the Puffin cabin, very basic but had all you needed- a fridge, seating area, microwave, kettle, toaster and 2 single beds, plus a double &single mattress on the floor in tge back room. Perfectly fine for a few nights. Could do with a shelf above kettle area for storage and black out blinds/curtains, also a better fitting front door (or draught excluder) It was situated in a quiet spot overlooking a few tents and mobile homes, to the right of the toilets/showers, with a key to a private kitchen area. There was also a communal area with washing up sinks/large fridges to store named items. We headed out to Bamburgh for the day along the Coast path, always worth a visit, and en route back we stopped off at the Pizza hut next to the campsite to order some food. They we rushed off their feet but squeeze ld us in to pick up two pizzas 45 minutes later, and wow they are delicious. Make sure to prebook to not miss out! Our orders were a Holy Pepperoni and a Vegan Margarita I would stay here again.

Large Tent - Large Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

Where do we start?!. this was our 2nd camping trip as new campers and we have without a doubt fallen in love and found our new favourite campsite and second home. Northumberland in itself is a very special place to us and this campsite has added to that. The staff upon entry were absolutely lovely, very accommodating and helpful. We were provided with a map of the site, which gave us a giggle with the illustrations and was very helpful in finding everything we needed. We opted for the XL Riverside pitch with an electric hookup, and I was made up with the actual size of the pitch itself, meaning we could park next to the tent. The grounds are very well cared for and looked after, the grass pitch was easy for us to pitch the tent in and the grass (as we witnessed during out stay) is kept tended to. The facilities on the site are cleaned every day, with washing up, toilets, showers, basins and additional mirror and electrical outlets, they have everything you would need for your stay. They also offer a selection of shopping goods in the shop including fire wood, kitchen roll, tent pegs and refrigerated drinks. The river behind our pitch was lovely to listen to and practically sent us to sleep every night listening to it. we found it got pretty cold after the sun started the set but this was because the large trees behind our pitch were blocking the sunlight from coming through. The site itself is next door to Bamburgh and Seahouses, to which you can turn right twice out of the site and be greeted with the lovely view of Bamburgh Castle. The phone signal isn't great but is usuable and the clear skies of a night time gave us plenty of star gazing which was beautiful as there is barely any light pollution on this site. behind the site there is a fantastic homemade pizza truck owned by a lovely mother and son. You can access it on foot through a gate near the front entrance which adds extra value to the site as they were chefs kiss Pizzas and a lovely pair. Overall this sight is beautiful and we have nothing to fault. the location is great, the facilities are brilliant, the staff are so friendly and even the fellow campers were lovely and everyone felt friendly.

Good stopover site

Motorhome - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

Where to start, our motorhome only just fit on the hardstanding. We wouldn't have had space to put our awning up, not least as the trees branches where over hanging, The site has cabins, tents, motorhomes, caravans. I feel that this site needs a revamp with much more space allocated to your pitch. Felt very cramped and the pitch next door had a tent, was only 15 inches from our van. People are friendly, tuck shop, and play area for children. We used as a stop over, that was ok, but if you're going for a few days, could become very cramped, bins and toilets all fine. Just too many vehicles for the site.

Great campsite!

Single Axle Caravan - XL Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

Brilliant location for walking to the beach - can get to Bamburgh along coast path in a 90 minute stroll. River on site, which is pretty. Dog friendly and plenty of showers with good water pressure. A big site with lots of caravans that have been put up for the season, which makes the site look a bit untidy but if you are near the river you can avoid seeing them. Staff friendly and nice little shop.

Small Tent - Medium Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

Booked for a first time camping night. Decided to book based on the reviews. Check in was very easy, facilities were clean. No problems at all. Lovely site we would book again the costal walk is stunning. If wanting the Pizza truck prebook we missed out 🥺. Went to local chip shop The John Dory in Belford which was great value for money and only a 5 min drive away. Also in Belford is a lovely Bistro for Brekky the Sunnyhills.

Medium Tent - Large Riverside Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

Clean and well maintained site. Myself and two teenagers had a lovely stay. Having read the previous negative comments about toilets, we were expecting the absolute worse. But can honestly say that they weren't that bad, we've stayed at a lot worse. For camping toilets, can't expect much more. The toilets were cleaned everyday 11am. At times, dirty, disgusting people had left the toilets in an awful state for the staff to clean up. We would stay here again. Enjoyed.

Site's response

Hi Sarah. Thanks for your review. Our staff do a great job keeping our toilets and facilities clean and tidy, but as you say, it only take one person to spoil it sometimes! We hope to see you again sometime.

Motorhome - Standard Plus Hardstanding Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

Very peaceful site in walking distance of the X18 brilliant bus service that runs along Northumberland coast. Early leaving site rule of 10:30am, which for us is not the norm. Walking on the shingle main route can be difficult for those with mobility problems. Excellent pizza a walk away from campsite. Coastal path walk from campsite.

Lovely campsite with friendly staff

Medium Tent - Standard Plus Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

Very nice stay at this popular campsite. No major complaints. The management have thought of most things to make Budle Bay a great campsite to visit. We liked the security gate which needs a code to enter and leave. Also, the simplicity of checking in, a good quality map makes locating your pitch easy. Ours was a little small, but this was expected as we had email communication before arrival enquiring about the size of our tent. Washing up and bathroom facilities were very good. Showers could do with a stool in each cubicle for those who are a bit unsteady on one leg. All in all, it was a lovely visit.

I would go back!

Large Tent - Super XXL Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

The staff were friendly and helpful. The shower and toilet facilities were fine for a campsite, with a decent pot-washing area and free fridge and freezer use. It's near to Bamburg castle and great as a central base for several other towns. We camped and the pitch was pretty level and close to the river...it was nice to listen to the river as I was falling asleep.

Site's response

Thanks for your great review, Jeremy - sounds like you had a lovely trip. You'd be very welcome back in the future!
