About Grass Roots Caravan Glamping & Alpaca Trekking

Next to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the site acts as a good base for exploring all that this beautiful county has to offer. The riverside town of Milford Haven is also only five minutes away with a buzzing waterfront full of shops and eateries. Tents and tourers can pitch up on non electric or 16 amp electric grass pitches. Each of the pitches are unmarked, with up to six guests allowed and parking available by your pitch. Four grass pitches are set amongst the Alpacas! Campervans, caravans and motorhomes also have the option of electric hardstanding pitches, each with its own 16 amp hook up. Ideal for year round touring, these pitches allow up to eight guests each. If glamping is more your style, the furnished 6m bell tent is a good option. Fully furnished, the tent sleeps up to three guests, equipped with a double bed, single bed, bedding, electric, cooking equipment and a wood burning stove for keeping cosy. Outside is also a fire pit and BBQ for al fresco cooking. You will have the added luxury of sleeping among the Alpacas. Four-legged friends can also join in the fun, with up to two dogs allowed per pitch and also in the bell tent. Fire pits are also available to hire, with sustainable firewood for pre-order. BBQs are also allowed, but ground campfires are prohibited.

Grass Roots Caravan Glamping & Alpaca Trekking is open all year round in 2024 and 2025.

A note from the site themselves...

Born and bred in Pembrokeshire, and keen campers ourselves, we decided that in 2023 we wanted to take on a new challenge and give Pembrokeshire a brand new camping experience. We are Chloe and Neal, we have five children who range in ages, so we understand the difficulties families face with trying to please everyone when going on holiday.

Before we met, Neal was living off-grid on 30 acres of land, where he enjoyed getting back to nature, this was always something he was passionate about. So when he met me in a modern townhouse he had to make a massive sacrifice, giving up something he loved so much, obviously I won that one.

After a year, we soon realised that we needed the outdoor space and freedom that he once had so our mission was to accomplish this again. To be honest I was never one for camping until I met Neal and he showed me a different way of traveling and living. I was the type of girl who would much prefer to jet off to an all-inclusive resort in the sunshine for a week. How times change!

Neal has been a postman in Pembrokeshire for over 30 years and I currently work for the NHS. We have both always strive for more and what better way than to start a business we are both passionate about, something we have great passion for. After months of looking for a home with land for our family, we realised that something was still missing. That was when our site began!

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesNov 2024

Never saw owners. There was no 'service' as such. No personal touches at site. Facilities cold, depressing (black paint everywhere) and not well maintained. Hinges on chemical facility broken. No heating in shower block which smelled damp. Does not appear to have a waste water facility except for sink in utility room. No specific dog bins, so you have to collect your dog mess and put in black bag for unrecycled waste before putting in their bin. Would not like to be there in hot weather for a couple of weeks collecting dog mess at your van to put in black bag for disposing at end of stay. We put ours behind back wheel until end of stay. For us, the site is not suitable for all round cold weather use and overpriced. Entrance is narrow. Emails overly long, and insincere comments considering we never actually spoke to anyone. Will definitely not return.

Site's response

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We purchased the site 12 months ago and have worked hard to make improvements, including a full renovation of the shower block to a high standard. It is disappointing to hear that this did not meet your needs, and we will review your comments to identify areas for improvement. Regarding waste management, the recycling area is clearly labelled, and we provide bins for all types of waste, including dog waste, in the designated area. Guests are not expected to hold onto waste during their stay, as there are accessible facilities for disposal. I also want to address your comments about not seeing us during your visit. Unfortunately, my husband has been diagnosed with Lyme disease and has been very unwell, which has been a challenging time for our family. We strive to ensure the site runs smoothly even during personal difficulties, and I'm sorry if our absence impacted your experience. The grey waste drainage point is located outside our house for easy access, as outlined in the pre-arrival information. We encourage guests to refer to this information, but we will review how this is communicated to make it clearer. We understand your feedback about the site's suitability for cold weather and other elements of your stay. While we aim to cater to all guests year-round, we will take your comments on board as we continue to improve our facilities and services. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We are committed to creating a positive experience for all our guests and hope you will reconsider staying with us in the future. Best regards, Chloe

Welcoming, although site location and showers were off putting

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesOct 2024

We should have researched the location prior to visiting as we felt it was an unsafe walk into Milford Haven. Initial thoughts on arriving to the site were good, however the mould on the wallpaper in the toilets made it feel unclean. The shower shape was not the easiest to fit into. I may be tall, but am a size 14, I should be able to use it comfortably. Grout in this area was unclean looking too, along with the mop provided. The staff did seem to be working hard on the place although missing critical elements. The campsite has potential with the farm element, however Milford Haven isn't a place for us. Sorry.

Outstanding
