On a walking holiday so chose Middlehills campsite for the location. I wasn't disappointed. The campsite is spotless with lots of space to choose from. It was busy on Saturday, but still got a good spot. The shop on site is brilliant with everything you need. On Saturday there is a local beer fest, which is short walk away. Great for visiting Dovedale, Ashbourne and the Peak trail. Would highly recommend.đź‘Ť

Good location and budget friendly. However we felt it was a bit overcrowded and there was a lot of midnight noise by campers!

It was a lovely clean, well managed site. The facilities were excellent and the staff were lovely. It is a great site for families as there is plenty of space and a big climbing frame for the kids. The on site shop had a good selection of products, like toothpaste that we forgot, as well as local meat and bakery goods, which were delicious. There is a resident pig and cheeky chickens that roam around and pop in your tent when you least expect them. There was a lovely atmosphere to the place. The only thing that let it down was the noise of the nearby quarry.

Great site with everything you need. Good for the kids too. I only rate the location slightly lower as it is difficult to walk in the immediate area as there are no footpaths.
Great little campsite but spoilt by loud group

Great little campsite and I chose it especially as it said quiet after 10.30. First 3 nights were perfect but sadly on our last night a large group arrived and sat up with their music, laughter, loud chatter and constantly barking dog. I didn't see any patrols as promised and even with earplugs they kept me awake until 3am. The showers cost 20p a minute but they are clean and hot. The view was stunning and there is so much to do you need a week! Be sure to check out Luds church!
Site's response
Thank you for your response, I'm sorry you experienced noise on your last night. I can confirm that the group you mentioned did speak to me on Sunday and said as soon as you complained, they did turn the music off. Plus, we had security on who patrolled the site. It is really hard to tell people they can't stay up talking and laughing, but we do try our best!
Very clean and polite

Me and my partner stayed here for 2 nights and we couldn't fault the campsite at all! The owners and the staff are so helpful and polite. The location is a perfect base for the Peak District and has some stunning views! Will be coming back very soon in the future. Would highly recommend!

Partner and I went for a night over the bank holiday with our two dogs. Absolutely loved it, huge site with a great play area for the kids and a super handy shop onsite to pick up bits and bobs you forget to bring. Quiet at night and everyone else was friendly/smiley. Only down side is you don't get any signal onsite, but we didn't mind as we were only there for a night. Absolutely recommend this place!

Booked this site for our first camping experience. Lovely little site, nice reception, playground and animals for the little kids, although we didn't think they had anything for older kids. The toilets, showers and wash facilities were nice and clean on arrival, although as with a wet weather weekend, it got muddy very quickly. Showers are ÂŁ1 for 5 minutes, and pretty decent on my opinion. The site shop staff were friendly and helpful, the shop was fairly priced if not a little pricey, but acceptable. The food van we didn't use but seemed to have a steady stream of people, prices seemed steep but there was a captive audience. I arrived early to set up, and picked a spot on the top field, which over the weekend got quite full. A large family group turned up and pretty much had their pick of space on the site and set up next to us and may as well have moved into our tent! The site has a 10:30 noise curfew, however, this group's children were still screaming and shouting at midnight and the parents were still up at 2:45. There was no interaction from the site staff to my knowledge. However, as inconsiderate as this was, they were nothing compared to the noise from the nearby quarry doing night shifts on Friday and Sunday evening. The noise of the conveyor, crushing, alarm and tipping will almost certainly keep light sleepers awake. I can normally sleep through anything but I've come back from this expected peaceful weekend absolutely exhausted and sleep deprived, following a 4am shift start (bank holiday Monday morning). Overall lovely site, but I wouldn't return due to the quarry noise.

We have just stayed at Middlehills Farm and Campsite. Myself, my husband and two children ( 5 & 2) all had a wonderful time! We stayed in Jabba the hut Camping Pod, which was clean and set out just right. We had wonderful views over the hills and although the site was busy, we were not disturbed by any noise. We woke to the sounds of nature and the farm animals. Daily visits from the horses were a hit with our children, along with seeing the pigs on the way to the play park located on-site, and the free roaming chickens. Hiring a fire pit was quick and easy, and the staff even offered to help take it to our pod. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful (especially as our power bank hadn't charged for our phones, they let us borrow a plug so we could still take photos during the rest of our trip!). The only slight negative was that the showers had to be paid for and were quite chilly, but all facilities were regularly cleaned. We also used the car more than we usually would when away but it wasn't a big deal as places were only a short drive away. We really had a wonderful time and will certainly be back! Thank you for a lovely and relaxing stay!

Great location with stunning views, with access to all the beauty of the Peaks has to offer. Facilities at the site are excellent with a well stocked shop for all the bits you’ve forgotten. Nice parked that keeps the kids occupied whilst you pitch.

Fantastic campsite, family had a great time. Only negative was a member of staff whose customer service skills could have been improved. Other than that though, great stuff.

We had a wonderful two night stay at Middlehills Farm. It was the perfect site for our 4 and 3 year old with the animals and play area to keep them entertained. Staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful with giving us excellent tips and advice of places to visit around the local area. The facilities were the cleanest we have had compared with other campsites. Would definitely recommend this site for young families.

Lovely site, beautiful location, a few animal noises in the night but it adds to the ambiance! You have to pay for the wipers which are pretty feeble but everything else was great.

This place has absolutely everything. My children loved it and my 15 year old son said how welcome and comfortable he felt. First time in the area and this place made it amazing.

On arrival, staff were friendly from the outset. A cracking location and well kept. My only niggle would be the noise of the quarry/mine of an evening but that's not on the site and can't be helped. I took my daughter for her first camping trip and she thoroughly enjoyed.

Amazing place. Excellent location as many beautiful places are near. Quiet and clean. The little shop at the park is good, with normal prices for everything, the staff was friendly. The staff at the reception was friendly. Little play area for kids. The price for a pitch was really good for 2 nights.

Lovely clean campsite, nice showers, well stocked shop and good sized pitches. Playground was a hit with our kids aged 6 and 9. Only downside was the nearby quarry which kept us awake most nights.

Clean, tidy and very well maintained site. Staff friendly. Nice little shop on site and bigger shop 3.8 miles away. Managed to get 4G in the top field. A really good base to explore from.
Pitches could have been bigger

The only thing I would say is the pitches could have been a bit larger for the family unit. A very clean and tidy site.

First time camping at Middlehills. The site was large enough for big tents, as we had no electric you could choose anywhere to pitch on the 2 fields and had plenty of room around the tent. The showers and toilets were clean and had what you needed for a camp trip, would definitely recommend this site and we will be returning ourselves in the future.
A large family campsite

This is a much larger site than I had realised. It was very busy and slightly chaotic. The non electric pitches are not marked so you just go where there's space which has its pros and cons. We ended up next to a very large and very loud group who were still shouting at nearly midnight. The facilities were good, clean and had everything you needed and there was a small shop which was great. Staff were friendly. It was remote (about 15/20mins drive from Bakewell) but we found a nice pub 5mins drive away in Brassington.

The campsite is a lovely little site for families. We camped on a non electric pitch and had a great experience. The ground was easy to pitch up on and no allocated spaces, so best to get in early if you want the best spot. There's an onsite shop which was useful when we ran out of matches. The resident pigs gave my toddler much joy every time we walked past and just had to say hello. The playground is very creative and was enjoyed very much by my son and other kids. We had a good time despite the rain! The water was nice and hot for showers, hand washing and pot washing. The only problem we encountered was the showers are on a payment meter which we weren't entirely prepared for, so make sure you have a few 20 pence pieces ready to go. The toilets are also slightly difficult to enter because the doors are very tight to the toilets themselves, meaning you have to practically climb over the toilet. This makes it more difficult when taking small children to the toilet.
