The site was very clean and the people very friendly and helpful. I had 3 children and was camping on my own with them. I always felt safe and the children spent a lot of their time on the playground or petting the animals - they loved it. The views are lovely and there wasn't a lot of noise. The top field can get windy at times, so be aware if taking a gazebo if the weather looks bad. There is quarry noise but it didn't bother us. It's really convenient for Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock Bath and Carsington Water but be prepared to take the car. My car wouldn't start on both mornings we were there and I had to ask for a jump start from some friendly campers and when that didn't work, the campsite staff - they were amazingly helpful and got me going again within minutes. I'm so incredibly grateful to them as it's tough camping on your own, but I know very little about cars so that could have ended our trip. As it was, their help enabled us to carry on and my husband has bought us a new car battery now we're home! We will definitely be back. A fantastic site with fantastic staff - thank you so so much! 😁

This campsite was a brilliant place to stay, especially with children. The play park and animals were a lovely addition to our holiday! 20 mins from the beautiful Dovedale Park, it makes a perfect base for a journey around the Peak District. We can't wait to come back.

Lovely campsite, all the facilities you needed. The shop was useful and loved the fresh eggs. Be prepared to need change for the shower - this was an epic fail on my part when I realised whilst stood in the shower. My only upgrade suggestion would be that a coffee machine at the shop would be an absolute win…a freshly made latte would go down a treat in the morning.

Honestly, for the price it can't be beaten better than more expensive sites. Will be visiting again definitely.

Staff were friendly and the facilities were clean. There is a shop selling local produce and camping essentials - you can also hire a fire pit from here and buy the logs to go in them. Showers are 20p a minute - though this is highlighted on the website. We were on the electric hookup field which is much smaller than the non-electric side. There is a nearby quarry which gives constant background noise but didn't bother us. It's located near Matlock Bath, Matlock and Bakewell, so if you drive, you're near some great locations. There are lovely walks around the campsite and we saw a lot of cyclists on the roads.

A perfect local break away, in a lovely remote location. The facilities were simple but more than sufficient, the staff were polite and welcoming (including the odd farm animals). The ideal environment to relax in.

Well run, relaxed, clean and tidy campsite. Children had a great time on the park and seeing the animals. Food vans on site each night and local takeaways delivering menus for dinner made everything super easy. Shop onsite, ice cream van visiting and a lady doing face painting for all the little ones too. Very relaxing weekend for a party of 12 of us. We will definitely recommend and will be returning xx

Lovely site and close to Matlock and Matlock Bath for days out. This was our first time camping and we would 100% return. The local quarry was a bit noisy, especially early in the morning when they are letting the blast siren off, but this isn't exactly something the site can control. We will be returning without a doubt.

Stayed here for 3 nights with two children, two adults and dog. Site was easy to find and in a good location for local attractions, 20 mins from Matlock Bath, Chatsworth House, Gulliver's Kingdom and Heights of Abraham. Electric pitches are on a smaller field, with non electric on two much larger fields. The electric pitches did feel a little too close to each other for my personal liking, there was a little bit of reshuffling of cars to accommodate other guests, but it was quieter than the other field as this also had a play area on it. Really good little play area, kept the kids busy and still very close to the electric pitches so they could go unsupervised. Facilities were always kept clean and showers were decent, nice and warm. My only negative would be that the toilets for the electric pitches were very small, so difficult to assist younger children in. Shop on site which was well stocked and ran by friendly staff. The children loved that there were pigs, ponies and chickens and even saw a few rabbits running around. My only other thing to mention is that there is a quarry within earshot of the site, which appeared to run 24 hours as it could be heard at night. Although it was not particularly loud or bothersome to me (I like a little bit of noise) those that prefer silence would probably notice it more. Overall, very pleased with our trip and would stay again.

They lock the showers at 9pm and have no enforced quiet time. Great for kids but not great if you would like to sleep. They also make you pay for the shower and it's on a timer, so that was also inconvenient.
Site's response
Thankyou for your review. The showers are on a timer and yes they do go off at 9pm, this is so they can be cleaned and ready for use the next morning. We also do charge for showers and this is advertised, so you should know before you book. This allows us to have plenty of hot water for everyone. We have security on at 10pm each night to make sure the site is quiet and I'm sorry you didn't find this was the case, and you could have come to reception to speak with us.

I stayed in a glamping pod with my two sons and I have to say that the pod and the campsite were fantastic! The pod was bigger than expected and the campsite was really pleasant, with great views and all the amenities you could need, including clean toilets and shower blocks and a nice little shop! I would recommend it to anyone without a doubt!

Great stay. Huge field to pitch in. Lovely views all round. Perfectly situated for loads to see and do, lots of walks and attractions in every direction for any taste. All facilities clean and plentiful, the shop's great too. Was recommending the site to friends as we were there. Would definitely book again.
Nice site, noisy untill late and lots of crows

Great site facilities with friendly staff. Can't express how nice the facilities are including fridge and freezer! Even had a pie van there! We had some issues on our stay, quiet hours were not enforced and had music until late. There were so many crows in a nearby field, they kept us awake most of the night and early morning. Park was quite crowded so was hard to find a pitch that wasn't just in front of little community areas people had built with tents. Would be good for large groups if you got there early, but would stay away if you are a couple. Great for families too, lots to keep the kids entertained. Is a great site if you don't mind the hustle and bustle.
Site's response
Hi, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear you had some issues with noise, we do have security on at weekends and you should not have had any problems, but I don't recall you coming to reception to talk to us about it? We can easily rectify these problems if you come and speak with us as there was not a lot we can do once you have left. As for the crows, well totally out of our control sorry, they were nesting in the near by trees, yes they were loud but unfortunately its the countryside and its what happens, happy to report they have now left! Hopefully see you again.

Highly recommend this campsite. Just returned from a 2 night break at Middlehills with my family of 5. An amazing site, with clean facilities including toilets, very hot showers and pot washing rooms. Great for the kids with the animals they can see and a great wooden play area too! They have a shop which supplies produce from the local area and other bits too! A great Aladdin's cave! A pub only 20 minutes walk away through the fields! We will be returning that's for sure!

The stay was ok. Would have been better if there was a way of making hot drinks, maybe a kettle in the hut. The double bed was not of good standard. As we came at the start of June, the hut was very cold. A long walk in the night to the toilets. But otherwise, a friendly atmosphere, basic shop, a good walk to the nearest pub.
Site's response
Unfortunately, there is no electric at the pod therefore it is advised in the description the you bring your own cooking facilities, as is there no heating, but this is reflected in the price and the facilities are only a short walk away. Not sure about the sofa bed, we will have to try it but had no other complaints. Perhaps you could have booked a more luxury pod with full facilities included?

This is such a great site, the kids loved just running around and getting wet in the swamp! The bar on site is great, really nice food and friendly staff. The cafe on site is great and reasonably priced. The farm shop is really good with lots of variety. A really good family site and great local area, will defo return again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Middlehill's Farm, the staff were really friendly, we had an electric pitch and we had a gazebo too. Toilets and showers were clean, 2 toilets near field with electric, another bigger toilet block round the corner. Showers were fine but felt the were expensive at 20p per minute. I needed 5 mins to wash my hair. A nice little shop on site that sold almost everything you could need, from ice-cream to camping stoves. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here.

Lovely site, especially if you have kids. Check-in took less than a minute and we were advised to pitch up pretty much wherever we liked on one of two fields. The facilities were spotlessly clean throughout our visit. I had my five year-old son with me and he absolutely loved the kids play area. I really can’t fault the value for money.
