Little Acre Holiday Park is just a 15-minute drive from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. This dog friendly touring park is adjacent to the tranquil Lancaster Canal, ideal for dog walking and relaxing. Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are close by and accessible by a bus stop 100m away. Good food and drink from the pub at the Crooklands Hotel is less than 100m and always popular (booking recommended).

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This was our first stay at Little Acres and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the site. This is an ideal base for exploring as Kendal is only about 15 minutes by car with the lakes about half hour in the other direction. The site has a pleasant canal walk running along beside it and the local pub is about 200 yards away, however, you must book in advance as they fill up quickly. The site has 2 toilet/shower blocks and a laundry/washing up area and both are well equipped with all you need. The only negative from our perspective is that the facilities are not sufficient for the number of users. At the time of our visit the facilities were under refurbishment.

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Alyson. We can't wait for the renovations in the men's in the original block to be completed (we're doing the Ladies whilst we're closed) and then we're back to 100% again. In the mean time, the ladies facilities in the original block are barely used, with people choosing to use the new block instead, even though they have to wait! Our hope is that when the original facilities block has been completely modernised and refurbished, the usage will even out once again. We'd love you to come back and see the changes. Paul & Sarah

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This was our second time away with our caravan, 2 kids and 2 dogs and it was great! Lovely, well-organised, clean toilets and showers, area to wash up was spotless, spacious, helpful staff. This was a good place to stay with dogs as it's right next to the canal so we did a couple of walks along there. We spent the day in Arnside at the beach and were only 15 minutes drive away. Thank you Little Acre we will be back!

Site's response

Hello Natalie. It was lovely to host you and your family again this weekend. Thank you for being a returning customer to Little Acre, it's really appreciated. Paul.

Good campsite, not sure why a 20p surcharge for showers is necessary.

Site's response

Hello Richard. Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. For a while, the showers were free and we had multiple instances of people continually pressing the "hot water" button until either a) the hot water tank was emptied, or b) the gas cylinder had been emptied - both of which were hugely annoying as people the had to wait for the water tank to refill with hot water, or a new gas cylinder to be fitted. From time to time, we also used to get people taking showers for 15-20 mins "because they could" which again, didn't work so well for other folks onsite. At the time, we reintroduced the 20p for 3 mins, we also added complimentary luxury shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, as well as a hairdryer for people to use - and the issue of the water tank being emptied, the gas cylinder being exhausted and the showers being "hogged", disappeared overnight. Hopefully that explains why we've done what we have and hopefully we'll host you again in the future. Paul P.S. Awnings, people, dogs, electric, water and Wi-Fi are all included in the nightly pitch fees.

Lovely spot to stop, nice dog-walking along canal, pub over the road, best toilets ever at a campsite. Had a wonderful time, owner was very helpful and gave a nice warm greeting, explaining everything we needed to know and helped with hard ground pegs. Was a complete delightful stay, would definitely use again. Would suit older kids as not much for young kids to do of an evening. Really enjoyed the stay.

Site's response

Hi Sarah. Thank you for staying with us and I'm glad that you all enjoyed your stay. With us not having a children's playground at Little Acre, we don't get many younger children staying with us - nearly all of our customers are people who have come away to quietly enjoy themselves. See you again. Paul.

Stayed here before, great little site very quiet and clean. The toilet and shower block are first class, just need 20p for the showers. Great hotel/pub over the road with great food, but be sure to book as it is popular. Site owner very helpful and accommodating. Thank you

Site's response

Having come from a campsite which was very far from wonderful, this campsite seemed idyllic. The owner was very helpful and informative before and after our arrival and the camp itself is well cared for and laid out. Overall, it is a very pleasant environment. The site is literally yards away from the canal and we enjoyed a lovely walk along the paths. Perhaps the most impressive thing for us (in view of the horrors of the previous site) were the luxurious and immaculately clean toilet and shower block, such a treat. In short, I would most definitely recommend spending time here. We simply loved it .

Site's response

I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre was such a success Ray and I'm sorry to read that your previous site wasn't so good for you. Enjoy your touring. Paul.

We had a great stay here. The reason I booked here, was that it's not far from the motorway and I had read reviews before. We spent a day in Kendal only 15mins away and then Lakeland maze only 10mins from the campsite as we have a 5 and 8 year old. The new toilet block was lovely and they have made some lovely touches to make it 5 star. The owner is very welcoming and has great plans for the site.

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us Fiona and it looks like you had a great time exploring the area. Hopefully we'll we able to host you again. Paul & Sarah

Lovely two nights stay at Little Acre, first time in our new motorhome! We got a few things wrong but we're still learning. Neighbouring family in a caravan helped us out and same with older couple beside us in a motorhome - they were so helpful and friendly. Facilities onsite were immaculately clean and to a very high standard, we were very impressed. Nearby walks perfect for our dog and the Crookland's pub and restaurant across the road was brilliant. Food and drink fantastic. Really enjoyed our adventure, highly recommend the site. We'll definitely be back. Thank you from Claire, Jason and Billy.

Site's response

Hi Claire, thank you for choosing Little Acre for your pioneering trip in your new motorhome. When you return, you'll be veterans! Paul.

This is our 3rd visit to Little Acre's and we love it here. We decided to stay an extra night this time. The site is well kept and the shower and toilets are lovely and clean. Paul is very welcoming and friendly. Fab location with a pub just across the road. Would highly recommend visiting this site, you won't be disappointed.

What an amazing place. Campsite is lovely, clean, great facilities. It's in a great location for canal walks and there are pubs within easy access. Staff on site are fantastic. Our 2nd visit and already booked a 3rd. Almost don't want to tell our friends so it's "ours" 😊

Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

Very surprised at the level of facilities offered - great value for money. A little building work going on to owners own home. Generally a great site, well-located, good-sized pitches - though some far from level.

Site's response

Hello Ian. It was lovely to host you recently and I'm glad that your stay worked well for you. We're shortly completing the complete renovation of the original gents shower and loo block and then when the season is over, we're moving on to the original ladies shower and loo block and then we'll have totally modernised and upgraded all of the onsite facilities (and our house will be complete as well!). Hopefully we'll be able to host you again in the future. Paul.

We've stayed here before as its really convenient for us but it's also a really well kept, tidy site. The facilities are some the nicest we've used but you must remember your 20p's for the showers! Its location is great as there is a pub 5 mins walk away and it's easy to get to Milnthorpe and Kendal. Staff are really helpful too.

Site's response

Hi Victoria, thank you for being a happy, returning customer at Little Acre! Paul P.S. If you are ever short of 20p's, I always have a stash that I can change for you!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

We booked little acre site for a stopover near the M6 to break our journey south but were pleasantly surprised at the high standards of the park and especially the immaculate modern shower/toilet block/ facilities etc. It is well placed for exploring the surrounding area and the Lake District. At night there is constant but distant road noise but we did not find this disrupted our sleep. We have returned again since our first stopover and again were happy with our stay. We found the owners helpful and friendly too. The park is dog friendly and there is a lovely walk along the water side. The Crooklands hotel is a short walk away, has a welcoming bar (dog friendly) and restaurant and an excellent menu with something to suit all appetites!

Site's response

Hi Jane Thank you for your (near) back to back visits. With Junct 36 of the M6 being a mile away, we are really well sited for breaking a long journey, or for having a longer break and exploring the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy your touring. Paul

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

Just stayed 4 nights on way back from Wales to Scotland. Nice little site just off motorway so really easy to get to with a caravan. Follow instructions from owner rather than sat nav! Small site, big pitches but they're not flat! 1 set brand new toilets and 1 little older block for ladies, all very clean. Didn't feel there was quite enough if site busy. Pub over the road does good food, huge portions, but make sure to book. Good location to explore from and friendly, helpful owner. Will return if in the area.

Site's response

Hi Fiona, Thank you for your recent 4 day stay at Little Acre and I'm glad that it worked out well for you. We're currently going through the process of totally modernising the gents facilities in the original block and once completed, we'll be moving onto the ladies facilities - and at that stage, we'll be back to 100% again! We'd love to have you return again to check out the improvements. Paul & Sarah

An excellent stay, Paul was great and really helpful, lovely facility block, spotless, warm and obviously highly-maintained. Will certainly be staying again, cannot really fault it. Took bus to Kendal from right outside £2.00 bargain! Pub across the road was great and really friendly. Hook up had loads of power, WiFi was spot on and water points everywhere. Loved it. 👍

Cheers Ian. It's always nice to read when someone has had such an enjoyable stay with us. Paul.
