Absolutely loved this site, just off junction 36 of the M6. We wanted a few days of peace and quiet and we certainly got it. Paul was extremely helpful with our pitch and we were surprised to find both a hose pipe and hook up lead on our pitch. We walked across the lane straight onto the canal which is extremely well cared for considering it is disused. There is some slight noise from the road but not enough to disturb you. The site is extremely well maintained and a new shower block and laundry area are being built, although the older facilities are adequate and clean. The Pub across the main road has excellent food and there's a garage 10 minute walk away if you run out of essentials. There is a bus stop nearby to take you into Kirkby Lonsdale or Kendal in the opposite direction. It's a great place if you're travelling north or south of the M6 and need a stop over, or if you just want some peace and quiet.

Thank you for staying with us Peter and it will be lovely to host you again when our brand new, shiny toilet, shower and laundry block opens. Paul & Sarah

Just did one night here as it was a late chance to get away. Owners were great (friendly and helpful). A quiet place and some lovely walks (and a pub) nearby. Showers and toilets perfectly fine (only one shower each for male and female did mean there were queues at times though). Cheap for the area (including water and electric). 3 minutes from the M6 👍🏼
Site's response
Cheers Stephen. Thank you for your lovely review. Once our new shower, loo and laundry block is finished, we'll have 4 showers available, plus additional loos, washup sinks and hand sinks for everyone. Paul

Very warm, personal welcome to this beautiful spot by a canal. Idyllic location, close to the M6 but no road noise. We only wish we'd stayed longer 😁

Exactly what we look for in a site, not too big, well laid out and well cared for pitches in a great location. Great booking email with good directions direct to the pitch, a friendly welcome but not in your face or overly pushy just hello and here if needed. Just by the canal with great access to walks in all directions with a really good up across the road and bonus for us of a great food van on the Friday evening - recommended.

Lovely, clean and quiet place run by a lovely and caring family. The toilets smelled like heaven, would go back there again.
Site's response
You and your family are very welcome to return for another visit, Katarzyna. The nice smell in the shower blocks is currently Mediterranean Orange room mist! Paul

Small, well-kept site only five minutes from the M6. Perfect for a stop-over; no requirement to stay for multiple nights. Warm welcome from the owner, clean facilities with thoughtful additions (soap, shampoo, hand cream, free hairdryer), excellent local pub and easy walks by the canal. Thank you.

Lovely site. Canal and river just through the site gates. Only 1 shower and 2 loos in ladies and 1 shower, 1 loo and 1 urinal in gents. Be much better once the new toilet block is completed. Hardstanding pitches are a good size and the site is nicely maintained. Lovely chap in charge.
Site's response
Thank you for recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Suzannah (I'm the lovely man who owns LA :)). Hopefully, the new much larger shower, loo and laundry block will be completed sooner, rather than later! Paul p.s. there is another loo block and wash-up area are on site, but perhaps you didn't find it whilst you were here.
Lovely, peaceful stay!

We had a great stay at the site. It is very well located next to the bypass. Check in was straightforward without any hassle. We have even been allowed to check it an hour earlier. We will be back for sure! Many thanks!

Thank you Bartosz. It was lovely to host you and checking in earlier than planned wasn't a problem in the slightest. Here's to next time. Paul

We have just returned from a two week stay at Little Acre Campsite, this was our first stay at this site and in this area. The site's location is so easy to access from the M6 motorway it makes towing the caravan a treat. We were greeted by the owners Paul and Sarah. After telling us where things were on the site and what to do in the area, we were left to pitch up and explore. We have been caravanning for over 16 years staying at all sorts of different caravan sites, Little Acre Campsite has the best dog walk we have ever come across. It takes you down by the canal with lovely scenery and wildlife and it is so peaceful and lovely. The Crooklands Hotel across the road from the campsite is a great pit stop on the way back after a day out exploring for a nice refreshment in the beer garden. They also do some amazing meals, although for an evening meal especially at weekends, booking is advisable. Little Acre Campsite has a fantastic toilet block which is spotlessly clean and well laid out. The showers have been designed so that you have enough room to get changed and showered in comfort. The showers are 20p for three minutes, which is more than enough time to shower and wash your hair. The water is always hot and the sink provided within the shower unit is also a good extra, along with lots of hooks for towels and clothes. Little Acre Campsite is a great place to stay very dog friendly, Paul and Sarah are excellent hosts. The ice cream van that comes to the site is an added bonus and Paul and Sarah have also organised a meal truck/street food van that comes on a Friday night. We tried the pulled pork which was amazing - definitely an added bonus and an excellent touch. Would definitely recommend staying at this campsite and we are hoping to return in the near future. Thank you Paul and Sarah for an amazing stay.

Thank you for the lovely review Suzanne (& organising the lovely weather whilst you were here as well). Since you've left, the swan that was nesting 200 yards from us has 9 cygnets keeping her company, which is a lovely sight when strolling along the canal. It will be lovely to host you again and we'll have a brand new shower, loo and laundry block for you to use. Paul & Sarah

We have just stayed here in our motorhome for 3 nights, what a lovely site this is. Paul and Sarah are wonderful hosts, Paul came to check on us once we were all settled in. He had emailed prior to us arriving, giving very clear directions to the site and also gave us our pitch number too. There is also a large camping field. Pitches are a good size and they are fairly level too, with fresh water tap shared between 2 pitches. The toilets and shower were spotlessly clean and there is a new shower block being built too. The site is in a lovely location, right opposite the canal, which was great for us to walk our dog. There are no shops nearby. However, there is a well stocked shop at the nearby petrol station, a short walk along the canal. There is a pub/hotel across the road, The Crooklands. We booked in for an evening meal and Paul suggested we book as it does get very busy. So glad we did, as it was indeed busy. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. We will definitely return to Little Acre in the future 😀

We have just had a lovely bank holiday weekend break at Little Acre. Lovely views and sunsets visible from the site, nice touches of comfort in the showers with shampoos, nail files and cotton buds etc and it will be even better when the new larger shower block is finished. This site is adjacent to a canal so we did a couple of lovely long walks and my partner got a couple of early morning runs in too. There is a fab pub/restaurant/hotel directly across the road. Finally with a bus stop outside the gates to take you to Kendal or Kirby Lonsdale; this is a great site in a great location with great hosts. Highly recommended.

I did sail past the turn off for Little Acre, if there is a sign I did not see it, so for the likes of me, it would be great to have one just before the bridge, nice and large. Our pitch was nice and level, but there were some which were not. Overall it was friendly and very clean. I was not sure which bit of grass belonged to our pitch, maybe that could be clarified. I would have appreciated a place where there were leaflets, a bus timetable etc and also a book swap. I realise this is very picky and I presume that when the new facilities are ready then there will be more space for these things. The facilities were very warm and immaculate with nice little touches such as hand cream. Also body wash, shampoo and conditioner were supplied in the shower. The bus stop for Kendal or Kirby Lonsdale is a 2 minute walk away. The Lancaster Canal is even nearer, which is great for walking. The Crooklands Hotel is also a 2 minute walk, but far enough that you cannot hear traffic noise or any other noise from the site. Hopefully we will be returning later on this year.
Site's response
Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation, Pauline. When you come next time, I'll be sure to point out which grass goes to which pitch for you! :) Yes, you're absolutely spot on about the leaflets, bus timetable and noticeboard being incorporated prominently in the shower, loo and laundry block that is currently being built - we had one in the retired "old block" and I know how appreciated they were by folk. They should all be in place when you return. Paul p.s we aren't allowed to put a sign on the Highways Agency's road signs, but we do have one outside the Holiday Park and I also send directions to the pitch on every confirmation via email.

Great little site. Very friendly staff, they came to say hello and left us to it but were there if we needed them. Lovely clean facilities and nice and quiet. Very easy to get to, just off the M6.

Thank you Gareth. I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre worked well for you. I don't like mithering people whilst they're with us, but as you say I'm always available during the day and never want anyone to be stuck for something. Enjoy your travels and hopefully I'll be able to host you again in the future. Paul

Very welcoming host, nice location and all facilities we required were available. No shop on site but a petrol station a short walk away for essentials. The site is situated next to a canal so the opportunity for walks in the countryside is an option.
Site's response
Thank you for the recommendation and review on campsites.co.uk, Susan. As you found, the easiest way to get to the shop at the petrol station is by walking along the canal towpath (the shop is about 1/3 mile way) and looking at the ducklings floating past. Paul

Only our second trip with our newly acquired caravan. The directions were excellent and the site was very neatly laid out. We didn't meet the warden as there seemed to be no one on site, but we asked other campers for help and advice and we managed quite well. We walked to the local pub and restaurant and had a lovely meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for the lovely review and recommendation on Campsites.co.uk, Susan. I'm sorry that I missed you- I was offsite for a while watching my son play in his last rugby match of the season and didn't get back until later. I've a feeling that when I came back and started catching up with my work, I saw you walking in the other direction! Hopefully next time I'll be able to properly meet and greet you. Paul
