Skelwith Fold Caravan Park is located just outside Ambleside in Cumbria and occupies 130 acres in the grounds of a former country house. The acres of magical woodland are its main draw with a host of wildlife inhabitants, red squirrels, red deer, badgers and an array of bird species. The grounds of the park can be explored through a network of interlinking paths, boasting stunning views across the surrounding majestic Lakeland Fells.

Skelwith Fold Caravan Park enjoys a fantastic location for exploring The Lake District, close to the top of Lake Windermere, with walking paths on every side. Top of the attractions are the acres of magical woodland that a range of wildlife call home, plus walkers fall for the surrounding majestic Lakeland Fells as well as the park's secret magical tarn. As a secluded, tranquil site in a beautiful countryside setting the park still maintains all the essentials for visitors' comfort including a large, well-stocked shop featuring everyday essentials as well as lots of locally sourced produce and gifts. A recreation area of five acres on site is ideal for families to picnic or play. The park provides peaceful, unspoilt and well-tended surroundings along with a very high standard of personal service. Nestled in around this beautiful and tranquil park, are 300 caravan holiday homes, 150 touring pitches which are fully serviced for visitors and 4 luxurious two berth 'hideaways' for glamping in a peaceful area of the park. Skelwith Fold proudly operates a policy of sustainable management which has resulted in many environmental accolades for the park, such as the prestigious David Bellamy Conservation Award, received for the previous 15 years consecutively by the park.

Facilities and amenities

The site's facilities include modern shower and toilet blocks, with the premium pitch toilet block also having underfloor heating. There is also a heated launderette and drying room, dog/bike/welly wash, recycling area and Wi-Fi.

State-of-the-art environmentally friendly dishwashers are available for £1 per use, or included within the price of a premium pitch. An open access computer is available in the trust library and a well-stocked shop has all the essentials alongside local produce.

Active spaces at Skelwith Fold Caravan Park include a five acre recreation area with views over the surrounding fells and mountains, ideal for family picnics, you may even spot a red squirrel or family of deer roaming the untouched landscape. Additionally, there are over 100 acres of woodland to explore, perfect for dog walking or athletic guests seeking a challenge.

Within the park itself there's a popular adventure playground with zip-slide, swings and a zip wire to get the adrenaline going as well as traditional equipment like swings and climbing frames for children. A wonderfully versatile astroturf sports pitch with goal posts and basketball nets is a favourite with guests also.

Heaving with opportunities to eat well, campers are unlikely to ever feel hungry in this part of the world. The site is surrounded by a bar, inn, vegetarian restaurant and several traditional pubs. To work off all that food, there's an aerial adventure park close at hand, woodland tracks for forest cycling and the World of Beatrix Potter in Nearby Bowness is sure to captivate families.
