Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Sep 2024

A nice, small and quiet site, a few miles down the canal from Chester. A working farm with cows in the adjacent field. One toilet and shower for men, there is 1 for women which is ok for the small number of pitches. Friendly owners, I enjoyed the stay and would stay again.

VW-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

We cannot rate the site enough! Although it was just a pit stop for us, we would have happily stayed a week here. Being on a working farm, we loved being surrounded by the cows. There was a great atmosphere, fab facilities (including a washing up station!), and the team were incredible and friendly. We got into a spot of bother when our van wouldn't start the next morning, and the team went above and beyond to help us get back on the road and jump start the van. Such a great place, and lovely people - we will definitely return (hopefully with a fixed van!)

Nice site, but certainly not quiet

Large Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

We came here for the bank holiday weekend with 3 children and a dog. All the other reviews are absolutely accurate - lovely little site with only 10 pitches. Large pitches, one toilet and one shower - which was fine for the amount of people on site. The cows coming to the fence for apples were a great experience for the children. However, the cows are both the highlight and the issue at this campsite. Essentially, you are sharing a field with 30+ cows. They seem to be communicating with each other through the night. On the first night, we were woken up at 5:30am to loud 'mooing' from our friends. On the 2nd night, we were woken at 2:30am - they didn't stop then throughout the night. Planning a busy sightseeing weekend meant we had very tired, upset children and a spooked dog. I feel bad writing this in a review, but I think it's only right to let people know that although the pictures look fabulous and the children were happy in the day, this is not a campsite to come to if you want sleep! Like I say, everything else to mention was fine. It's a shame, but this would stop us visiting again. Perhaps the cows need to be moved away to a further field for the night time (I know they wandered further away during the day).

Great short break away

Great weekend away. Clean, tidy campsite. Would definitely book again. Aldi was only 8 min drive away, and a lovely pub Plough Inn a 3 min drive away, dog friendly with reasonably priced food.

Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

Small family-run site, no frills, no fuss. Ideal for a quiet off the grid stay. Facilities are minimal but clean and tidy. Very quiet yet very close to Chester. Park and ride only 10 minutes away. Service station with Aldi only a couple of miles down the road.

Lovely quiet site

Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Aug 2024

First time staying at this campsite. It was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The facilities are basic but clean and did the job. Smaller site than I thought but it was perfect and quiet. It is a working farm so lots of cows in the field, we fed them apples each day that fell from the apple trees on the site. Electricity available. Lovely little pub called the plough around 15 minute walk away that do the most amazing Sunday roast. We will certainly be back to this site.

Twin Axle Caravan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

Just returned home from 2 days at this lovely campsite. The weather was glorious which helps, of course. There was plenty of space for our kids to be on their bikes. The cows were also very friendly, they came up at the fence and were licking my kid's hands. The toilets and showers were roomy and very clean. It was a very relaxed camp site, I would stay again in a heartbeat. The campsite was very close to pubs, Chester zoo and Cheshire oaks. Great walks and cycle routes.

Site's response

Thank you for the lovely review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay, glad the children enjoyed meeting the cows too, we hope to see you again soon!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

The site was perfect for us for a one night stop over. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The pitches were well maintained. 5* - The site felt safe and there was space for our children to play. Also, being able to see the cows in the barn and roaming the fields was great. 3* for the facilities. Because of the rain, a shelter over the washing area would have been useful. Toilet was basic, did the job. Plenty of loo roll. Unfortunately, the shower was cold in the morning.

Site's response

Thank you for your review, we glad you enjoyed your stay. Also, thank you for your suggestion, we will look into providing a shelter, as well as looking into the shower issue. We hope to see you again soon.

Great stay!

Single Axle Caravan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jul 2024

Excellent! Me and my partner have just come back from staying at this site with our 2 dogs. Great location, facilities and site with nothing to fault, apart from that I couldn't get the showers to get warm, but that was a minor thing compared to the whole experience. Definitely recommend and will be back. It's quite a small, intimate site so isn't too noisy and staff very friendly. Thank you very much for our stay, we loved it :)

Site's response

Thank you for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for brining the shower issue to our attention, we will have that looked into straight away and hope to see you again soon!

Single Axle Caravan - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jun 2024

I feel that it needs updating and was too basic for our requirements. Night lights around washing and toilet facilities would be a bonus.

Site's response

I'm sorry our site didn't meet your requirements, but thank you for bringing the lighting issues to our attention. We do have lighting outside the washing and toilets facilities, so sorry these weren't working. We will look into any issues and fix as a priority.

Great place to unwind and watch life go by

Medium Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jun 2024

The toilets were clean and as standard for a decent campsite. We didn't use the shower but it looked good quality. Watching the cows a field over was quite relaxing, and the apples falling next to our tent was charming. We came by foot and the campsite is around 20 minutes away by foot from the main road and then a short bus ride to Chester. Recommended.

Site's response

Glad you enjoyed your stay with us.

Large Tent - Grass Pitches (Optional Electric)Jun 2024

What a beautiful working farm, loved waking up to the cows looking at us over the fence. Very close to Chester and only a 15 minute walk away from The Plough Inn pub. The outside washing up facilities really made it feel like you were living in the outdoors. One toilet and one shower each but with only a few pitches, this is all what was needed. Nice wake up call from the bulls they have there too. Very friendly reception and we would definitely pitch there again.

Site's response

Thank you for your review, hope the cows didn't wake you up too early!
