Little Acre Holiday Park is just a 15-minute drive from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. This dog friendly touring park is adjacent to the tranquil Lancaster Canal, ideal for dog walking and relaxing. Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are close by and accessible by a bus stop 100m away. Good food and drink from the pub at the Crooklands Hotel is less than 100m and always popular (booking recommended).

Loved staying here for our break. Great location for visiting Kendal, Ambleside and many other places. Sarah and Paul were very friendly and helpful. The shower block was outstanding, better than many hotels we have stayed in! I even sent a video of it to my friend I was so impressed 🤣. Nice walk up the canal path, with loads of swans. Will definitely be back at some point and will highly recommend. Thank you 😊

Site's response

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

The owner Paul was very helpful; not only when we arrived but beforehand too, accommodating our large motorhome. The toilet/shower facilities were spotless with the nice touches that give a homely and luxury experience. There is an excellent restaurant across the road, 100 yards away. All in all, this is an excellent site to explore the South Lakes and Yorkshire Dales, or simply relax on site. Thoroughly recommended.

Site's response

Hello Lyndon. That's very kind of you. With you having a large motorhome, it was important to me, to make sure that you had a suitable pitch to comfortably accommodate you, and I'm glad that your stay went so well. I look forward to seeing you again at Little Acre. Paul.

Very clean shower and toilet blocks. Host very friendly and helpful. Nice pub across the road. Pitches a little tight and on a slope but that's to be expected in The Lakes. Could do with a dog and bike wash facility is the only suggestion I have. All in all a lovely site and we'll be back.

Site's response

Hi Julie. Thank you for your recent extended stay at Little Acre, it would be lovely to host you again. Paul. PS - good suggestion about the dog and bike wash - I'll look into the practicalities of setting it up.

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Little Acre campsite, which is situated just a short distance from the M6, a great location for exploring the lakes. All of the amenities are spotlessly clean and very modern with a washing machine and dryer in the pot wash (shower 20p for 3 minutes, washer and dryer £3 each). There is a fantastic walk along the canal and the local pub is only a few minutes walk away, all in all a great little site in a fantastic location. We will return.

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us over the BH weekend and leaving such a lovely review of Little Acre, Gary. It would be lovely to host you again. Paul and Sarah.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Excellent shower/bathroom facilities. Although, in the main block there are only 2 large shower rooms and 3 toilets. Luckily, we didn't have to wait/queue but if a full site, I can imagine these being busy - but they were extremely clean and free shower gel/shampoo/conditioner. Only minor negative is too many birds - there were several bird feeders behind our pitch in the hedge, which made a lot of constant noise.

Site's response

Hello Craig Thank you for staying with us over the BH weekend and recommending us on campsites.co.uk. Whist you were here, the site was at full capacity, with all pitches taken - and both of the facility block coped with all of our vistors without a hitch. Hopefully we'll be able to host you again. Best camping toilets we have ever been to. Kept clean at all times. The showers are brilliant. Site is kept well and maintained. Lovely friendly staff that made you feel very welcome. Pub (Crooklands) across the road, very friendly and welcoming. Lovely location and walks too. Will be booking up again next year for a longer stay.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Facilities spotless and pitches excellent. Only suggestion would be to have more toilets given the number of pitches available.

Site's response

Hello Gary. Thank you for your recent stay at Little Acre. Since your stay, we have now been able to fully reopen our 2nd shower and loo block and once again, all of our facilities are up and running. The Gents facilities in the "other" facilities block have had a complete refurbishment from floor to ceiling and are looking rather swish. Paul.

Toilets and showers were lovely and clean, could do with the other block opening up sooner rather than later, queuing for showers.

This is the second time I have stayed on this site overnight. Once travelling back from the South of England, and this visit was due to attending a local property event and was again in a handy location. It's well located just off the M6, it's tidy and well laid out. New toilet block is very high end and Paul who runs the place is friendly and very helpful. Plus point - The Crookland Hotel is just across the road and serves fantastic food. 5 star food and drinks. You are next to a cute canal. Good for the morning dog walk. Negative point, the beautiful shower block doesn't have the best ventilation so after a shower the room is filled with steam. I like a cool shower and it was still an issue for me. Being able to open the window would have helped. It wouldn't stop me going back though and I would recommend this site to friends and family. Thanks Paul and hopefully see you again next year 👍🏻

Site's response

Hi Stuart Thank you for being a returning customer at Little Acre, and hopefully we'll be able to host you again in the future. The "new block" has humidity controlled extractor fans to suck the steam out and keep the room refreshed with fresh air, as well as sensors in the floor for the underfloor heating, to keep the building at a constant comfortable temperature and (hopefully) humidity. Happy touring. Paul.

Lovely little site to stay at unless you want something that has a lot going on. There's a canal directly opposite where we did a lot of blackberry picking and a lovely little pub over the road. We loved that the kids got to play outside and not be stuck to screens etc! The owner was lovely and very helpful. The toilets/shower blocks are always clean, the site was very clean. And the gentleman mowing was even a happy chatter! Would definitely stay again for a little quiet break. :)

For us personally we have nothing negative to say. Dogs walk right off the park to a beautiful canal walk, 2 minutes walk to Crook lands hotel and food, 10 min walk to a Texaco garage with small amenities shop, the site was quiet. Clean, and the shower blocks more than 5 star. We would definitely recommend to anyone 🥰

A little gem! Can’t fault this lovely little site, we have been to hotel spa facilities which don’t match up to the bathrooms! A quiet, friendly site which is a perfect base to explore the lakes. The staff were so friendly and we had an email to tell us our pitch before arrival so we didn’t need to worry about being there at a particular time. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you :)

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

This is a lovely little site which is close to the canal for peaceful walks. There is a pub/hotel across the road which is dog friendly and the owner is friendly and on hand to help with anything we needed. On site, there is a laundry and wash room and 2 toilet/shower blocks - one of which was being upgraded. The already upgraded toilet/shower block is lovely and modern, with 2 private shower rooms and 3 toilets. However, there is a charge to use the shower which I found strange as the toiletries are complimentary. Wi-Fi is really good. We had plenty of space and were positioned on the field where the tents are as we asked for a quiet pitch, but I did notice the area that sites the tourers are very close together. On the whole, this is a nice site for a quiet getaway.

Site's response

Hi James, Thank you for your recent stay with us at Little Acre and for recommending us on campsites.co.uk As well as the wifi and toiletries being complimentary, we also have hand lotion, nail files, cotton wool pads cotton buds and in the laundry/washing up area, we also provide washing up liquid and liquitabs for the washing machine. We have various sized pitches onsite for campervans, motorhomes and caravans (single axle or twin) and we sell pitches according to the vehicle that is going onto it, so that none of the pitches are in any way cramped. Enjoy your touring and it would be lovely to host you again. Paul.

Nice site but timed payment for showers

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

So I'll start with the pros. A lovely clean site with nice toilet and laundry facilities which were kept very clean. Nice pitches. Now for the cons. We hadn't realised there was an extra charge for the showers and these were coin timed. Early evening, we had our child start to be sick, so went to shower her and realised we needed money. With very limited cash on us I went to the owner to try and get some change. I was clearly upset and explained we didn't realise we needed cash for the showers and was disappointed in that, to be told if we didn't like it he could cancel our booking and leave immediately. To say I was upset at this is an understatement. We had travelled very far, it was early evening and we had a sick child. This left a very sour taste and put somewhat of a dampener on our stay. The following day there was an altercation with two other families and we saw him again tell them to pack up and leave. To hear this twice in two days to two families would make me very wary, especially after travelling very far and both times were early evening, so I'm not sure where he thought you would be able to go at that point in the day.

Site's response

Hello Joe, thank you for staying with me recently and I'm glad that you appreciated our facilities. The showers cost 20p for 3 minutes (including complimentary luxury shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and hairdryers) and is displayed prominently on our listing with Campsites.co.uk and is highlighted in block writing in the confirmation that I sent to you. On the day that you came to me for change, you seemed upset and were confrontational. After trying to explain how the shower charge worked, it seemed that you weren't interested in me trying to help you. At this stage, I said that if paying 20p for a shower was so important to you, the best result would be for me to give you a full refund and for you find another site to stay at. You decided to stay and I changed you some 20p's as you asked. The following day, we unfortunately had an instance where a customer was being a nuisance to other customers, was causing damage to our facilities and was acting in a way that was dangerous to themselves and others. Sadly, after being asked to change their ways, they refused, so they were asked to leave the site, which they did. For future bookings, reading the details of a site before you are booking, or reading the confirmation email that is sent to you, would give you a better understanding of facilities that are available to you and at what (if any) additional charge. Enjoy your touring and I hope that you are able to find other sites that fit your criteria. Paul.
