We had a lovely welcome from the owner who would stop for chats during the evening. Our pitch was a lovely size and very well maintained. Very good value for money. Great WiFi signal. Could do with a couple more showers there.
Site's response
Thank you for bringing the nice weather when you came Alison - it was appreciated by everyone! When we're busy, extra showers would be very handy for the 2 hour, peak times of the day, for the other 22 hours they aren't being used! When the new shower block is installed next year, things should improve (although I bet we still could do with more for the busiest times, on the busiest days!) Paul p.s. your daughter seemed to find the free wifi a hit!

What can I say. Absolutely fantastic. The owner came to greet us and as it was our first time. He guided us with the ramps for our van. The site is beautiful showers toilets and washing up facilities. The lake is lovely to walk and swim in. We will definitely be back here. Thank you
Site's response
I'm glad that your pioneering trip out was an enjoyable success for you Candice. It would be lovely to host you again in the future (please bring the sunshine with you again). Paul.

Great out of the way campsite, but be prepared for a drive into town. We stayed just the one night on our way to the Lake District. We didn't manage to book into the hotel/pub across the road, so ended up having to take the motorhome into the local town (about 4mi) to be able to get provisions - something we didn't think about! It could be quiet and some nice walks about, but be wary with smaller kids as its close to a very fast road with no pavements for walking. We had a scout camp nearby while we were there for the weekend and so there was quite a lot of music/noise until about 10pm - but that's just one weekend. I'm sure usually its very quiet! There's a lovely canal close by which was a good walk for the dog.
Site's response
Thank you for your review and your (brief) stay Michael. You're right, it usually is very quiet at Little Acre and the Scout jamboree made quite a difference when it was on - it was quite surreal listening to agadoo, gangnam style and other "scout friendly" songs. Paul.

We are new to all this and just bought a campervan, the owner of the site very helpful with a few issues we had. I would recommend this site, very well organised and toilets and showers spotless, will definitely be staying again.
Site's response
Thank you Mairee. I don't know masses aboiut campervans/motorhomes, but I'll always try to help if I can. See you again, Paul

We were made very welcome by the owner from the very 1st minute we arrived until the time we left. The site is very clean and tidy. Shower blocks are great & clean with shampoo, body wash and conditioner provided that is situated within the shower cubicle. Its great for walking with easy access to the canal tow path. There is a local pub just up the road that is affordable. I would recommend this site. We'll definitely be coming back.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review and recommendation Lee. It'll be lovey to host you again. Paul

Great site, only thing I would change is no disabled facilities and I struggled in shower with nothing to hold onto. Toilet block was spotless, modern, personal touches like flowers, jar of cotton balls, mini emery boards, jars of scented oils, free soap, shampoo conditioner in showers. However, there's a 20p charge for 3 mins, can this not be added onto site fees? A new shower block I am told has been granted planning permission, and a laundry room would make this 5 out of 5 for me. The owners are amazing, always on the go keeping it well attended to and attention to detail is great. With pitches that are uneven, they have supplied levelling ramps or large flat stones to assist with levelling - a great touch.
Site's response
When we get the new shower, loo and laundry block with accessible facilities, please come back again and hopefully we'll get that 5* from you, Margaret. When the showers were free, we got multiple instances of people repeatedly pressing the "free shower" button that either a) exhausted the entire hot water tank which meant that no one else could have a shower until it was reheated or b) emptied the 47kg propane gas cylinder that meant we couldn't offer showers until we could get another cylinder delivered. Since reintroducing the 20p for 3 min charge, we've never run out of hot water or gas! Plus, we now offer complimentary high quality shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, which we didn't do before. Paul & Sarah

Only a stay over but we were impressed and will definitely return. Clean, friendly, so well kept and facilities spot on. Thanks!!
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review, Steve, and recommendation on Campsites.co.uk. We have a lot of people using the site as a one night stopover - the combination of being 2 mins from junction 36 on the M6, having a pub 200 yards away and the Lancaster Canal opposite our main entrance works very for travellers. Had to book 2 single nights because of pitch availability. Greeted by Paul on arrival, who managed to juggle bookings and gave us a pitch that we didn't need to move. Toilets, showers and site all well looked after, well presented and spotless. Paul is full of local info and very obliging. We would definitely return.
Site's response
Thank you Ciaran. I'm glad that the "caravan site pitch juggling" worked for you and that your stay was a success. Paul

A fantastic time at a well managed, beautiful site. Would recommend! This site has everything you need. It is local to a lovely little pub and a garage that sells pretty much anything! Not too far up the road is Booths, a store that sell everything.

Thank you Philip. A 5* rating and recommendation on Campsites.co.uk - thank you very much. Paul

We needed a stay on the way down from Scotland to Devon (our home) and this seemed a great middle ground. We were worried about checking in time, but we called Paul who put our minds at ease. We changed pitch when we arrived with no problem - simply due to us liking a pitch slightly better and Paul helped us with everything. A great guy. The site was lovely and near a towpath which was great to take the dog and very close to a pub which was good - although we couldn't go there for food as fully booked (so book up) but instead got amazing takeaway fish and chips from the next village that Paul recommended. The only thing for us was the fact the showers took 20p coins for 3 mins - I don't mind a little charge but we simply do not carry small change anymore. I would suggest a timing mechanism of 5 minutes per shower meaning you aren't rushed but you also aren't just using the water unnecessarily - which is why I guess the charge went in. Add 50p to the site charge! We had a lovely time, felt rested and will return I am sure. Thank you Paul.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review, Mark, and I'm glad that your stay with us was a success. We reintroduced the 20p for 3 mins for the showers after we'd had repeated instances of people hitting the "press here for hot shower" button (as in pressing in dozens of times) which either a) drained all of the hot water, stopping anyone else having a shower or b) emptied the 47kg gas cylinder which meant that we couldn't run the showers until the cylinder could be replaced (plus wasted over £70 on a replacement cylinder). We let people know when booking that the showers are 20p and we mention it again in the confirmation - plus, I've always got plenty of 20ps onsite to change for people. On the plus side, when we reintroduced the 20p for 3 mins, we also added complimentary luxury shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Paul & Sarah

We had a lovely weekend away, we went out for tea to the Bulls Head a couple of miles away, as the Crooklands was full. We also went on the canal boat for a small charge. Also, we enjoyed family games that Paul and Sarah supplied. Really looking forward to returning.

We only stayed here one night on our journey from Cornwall to Scotland- it was the perfect stopover. Easy to find (great instructions!), close to the M6, very clean, not too many pitches, quiet area and a fab Inn a couple of minutes walk away. What's not to like! Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Site's response
Thank you, Claire. Over the season we have lots of people doing exactly what you've done and using us as a very convenient stopover to break up a long journey, from North to South or vice versa. If you're around this way again, we'd love to host you again! Paul & Sarah
