This dog friendly touring park is adjacent to the tranquil Lancaster Canal, ideal for dog walking and relaxing. Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale are close by and accessible by a bus stop 100m away. Good food and drink from the pub at the Crooklands Hotel is less than 100m and always popular (booking recommended).

I did sail past the turn off for Little Acre, if there is a sign I did not see it, so for the likes of me, it would be great to have one just before the bridge, nice and large. Our pitch was nice and level, but there were some which were not. Overall it was friendly and very clean. I was not sure which bit of grass belonged to our pitch, maybe that could be clarified. I would have appreciated a place where there were leaflets, a bus timetable etc and also a book swap. I realise this is very picky and I presume that when the new facilities are ready then there will be more space for these things. The facilities were very warm and immaculate with nice little touches such as hand cream. Also body wash, shampoo and conditioner were supplied in the shower. The bus stop for Kendal or Kirby Lonsdale is a 2 minute walk away. The Lancaster Canal is even nearer, which is great for walking. The Crooklands Hotel is also a 2 minute walk, but far enough that you cannot hear traffic noise or any other noise from the site. Hopefully we will be returning later on this year.
Site's response
Thank you for your lovely review and recommendation, Pauline. When you come next time, I'll be sure to point out which grass goes to which pitch for you! :) Yes, you're absolutely spot on about the leaflets, bus timetable and noticeboard being incorporated prominently in the shower, loo and laundry block that is currently being built - we had one in the retired "old block" and I know how appreciated they were by folk. They should all be in place when you return. Paul p.s we aren't allowed to put a sign on the Highways Agency's road signs, but we do have one outside the Holiday Park and I also send directions to the pitch on every confirmation via email.

Great little site. Very friendly staff, they came to say hello and left us to it but were there if we needed them. Lovely clean facilities and nice and quiet. Very easy to get to, just off the M6.
Site's response
Thank you Gareth. I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre worked well for you. I don't like mithering people whilst they're with us, but as you say I'm always available during the day and never want anyone to be stuck for something. Enjoy your travels and hopefully I'll be able to host you again in the future. Paul

Very welcoming host, nice location and all facilities we required were available. No shop on site but a petrol station a short walk away for essentials. The site is situated next to a canal so the opportunity for walks in the countryside is an option.
Site's response
Thank you for the recommendation and review on campsites.co.uk, Susan. As you found, the easiest way to get to the shop at the petrol station is by walking along the canal towpath (the shop is about 1/3 mile way) and looking at the ducklings floating past. Paul

Nice little site with friendly owner. Facilities are clean and a new block being built will be nice when complete. Pub around the corner within walking distance, also access to the canal from the site. The site is quiet at night, would stay again.

Only our second trip with our newly acquired caravan. The directions were excellent and the site was very neatly laid out. We didn't meet the warden as there seemed to be no one on site, but we asked other campers for help and advice and we managed quite well. We walked to the local pub and restaurant and had a lovely meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for the lovely review and recommendation on Campsites.co.uk, Susan. I'm sorry that I missed you- I was offsite for a while watching my son play in his last rugby match of the season and didn't get back until later. I've a feeling that when I came back and started catching up with my work, I saw you walking in the other direction! Hopefully next time I'll be able to properly meet and greet you. Paul

Very nice site and very clean and well maintained. The owners are really friendly and make you feel welcome. It's also the only park I've stayed at in a while where they don't charge for your dog. When you arrive have some treats ready, because you are met by a really friendly dog. We only stayed for 1 night on our return from Scotland, but we will be returning for a longer stay.
Site's response
Thank you Steve. Yes, the site is dog friendly and I don't feel the need to charge for pooches to stay with us. It will be lovely to host you again in the future. Paul p.s. Sandie the Cocker Spaniel says thank you for the treat biscuits!

What a lovely place, right off the motorway. Paul came to see us as soon as we arrived to make sure we knew where everything was. The showers were great, only 20p! Great for a drop off, wish we had stayed longer.

We stopped over here en route from Scotland to see family down south. A delay for health reasons meant we were late starting our trip, but Paul was very accommodating and made sure we had a pitch that was easy to access. He stayed in touch to make sure we knew what to do on arrival. We had to cancel our booking at the Crooklands, but managed to get a late table at the nearby Plough and the food was very good. Facilities were very good and very clean, but limited for the number of pitches. The showers were 20p for 3 minutes, which was fine. Overall a great stopover and a super site owner.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review Matthew and it was good that you managed to make the trip. With it being dark when you arrived, you wouldn't have see the new shower, loo and laundry block that is being built at Little Acre. Once completed, it more than doubles our available facilities, but until finished, I'm leaving some pitches unsold, so that the existing loo and shower block can easily cope. Paul
Very close to M6 and J36

Small site easily accessible from M6. Toilet block has 2 toilets and 1 shower only, although they are building a second block in the next field. Showers cost 20p for 3 minutes but soap, shampoo and conditioner are supplied. Not a cheap site but the owners have added lots of nice touches. Access to canal path outside gate and hotel across the road for food and drinks. Will be back.
Site's response
Thank you for staying at Little Acre and leaving a lovely review, Lesley. Regarding the existing loo and shower facilities, the ladies part of the loo block has 2 x loos and a shower and the gents part of the loo block also has 2 loos and a shower. There is also a separate loo (affectionately called "the throne room"), plus there's also another loo block onsite, which I suspect that you didn't discover during your stay. Hopefully the additional new loo, shower and laundry block will be up and running for you on your next visit. Paul

Beautiful little campsite and a great location. We had a very warm welcome. The toilets and showers were spotless with lovely little touches. You've got the canal across the road, which is great for dog owners and the pub is about 100 meters away. I'd definitely recommend it and will definitely come back again.

What a find!!! This was our first trip with our new van and everything was perfect. Paul the owner was absolutely fantastic, we had an issue with our electric (us being a bit dim) but he sorted us out, nothing was a problem. The showers and toilets were amazing, super clean and warm. Overall a wonderful little site. This was our first visit but definitely not the LAST.

Lovely place - pet friendly with nice places to walk. A small, friendly site. Not far from the seaside. Clean, tidy and no issues at all! Showers 20p for three minutes and Wi-Fi available. If you want to dine out definitely book before going on holiday as we really struggled to get in anywhere as all are few and far between so very busy.
Site's response
Thank you Deborah, I'm glad that things worked out for you at Little Acre. The Crooklands Hotel that is 200 yards from us is a very popular place (always a good sign !) and I now put a direct link into my confirmations so that people can book a table before they arrive. Paul

Nice friendly welcome from the owner who explained the local area. Clean site with all the main facilities needed. Only one shower and toilet for male and one for female although a new block is nearly finished not sure how it would be if the site had lots on site. Very close to M6 so lots of background noise. Close to Kendal - could walk it but the ground at the time was very wet. Bus stop close by so you can get anywhere easily. Local pub had great food but need to book, even for midweek.
Site's response
Thank you for reviewing Little Acre on Campsites.co.uk, Lesley. We can't wait for the new shower, loo and laundry block to be completed as it is more than double the size of the one that it is replacing and once finished, we'll have 2 well sized facilities for people to use. Recommending us to others is really appreciated. Paul
