Have just returned from a lovely weekend of camping here! The site was absolutely beautiful - really well situated just off the M6 motorway yet you are completely out in the countryside. The canal walks were lovely, the petrol station shop is very close by and we were able to eat a delicious lunch at The Crooklands Hotel, which was just a short walk away from the site and it was great. I hadn't arrived when the site owner met my friends that we were camping with but they said he was really nice and friendly. Shower block and toilets were immaculate and the shower (60p in 20ps getting you 9 minutes) was lovely and warm. We've really enjoyed our stay here and would love to return!

Paul came to see us once settled in, he was helpful and cheerful. The showers are 20p I used 40p for a full hot powerful shower, there's loads of room to change. The toilets have loads of extras - hair dryer, cotton buds, hand cream. Very clean. The wash area is great, washing liquid and cleaner supplies also lots of leaflets of things to do in the area. The Crooklands pub serves good food, booking is essential and dogs are welcome. The bus stop is outside the pub, £8.50 return into Kirkby Lonsdale, we spent the day and it is a beautiful historic town with loads to do - a fantastic river walk, lots of independent shops lovely cafes and restaurants and lots of nooks to discover the history. The canal runs just outside the campsite, a lovely walk in either direction. Water sports are within walking distance, and there is a boat trip from May onwards from outside the site.

Stayed here for 2 days, excellent stay - all facilities spotless and the grounds well kept. The owner was very friendly and most helpful, we would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends for an excellent stay. Lovely walks near the park, the pub over the road from park was OK too.

I booked only a week before and was really lucky given it was Easter. Paul the owner was really helpful when I arrived with the camper (with my partner following later in the car). I hadn't filled the camper up with water before (partner's van) and he helped me to do this, loaning a hose. Fantastic pizza onsite on the Friday night (and an email in advance to let us know a chap was bringing a pizza oven). Lovely location with fab views and a really good 5 min walk to the local pub where the food was also excellent and plentiful (go hungry!). Very quiet site too. The only feedback I would give (and where I haven't give 5 stars) concerns the facilities. There are too few for when the site is busy (during Easter) but that being said, I only had to wait once for one person while they showered as I went off-peak. They were kept spotlessly clean too. I would definitely stay there again.
Site's response
Thank you for the loively review and recommendation Julia. There is an additional and much larger shower and loo block at Little Acre that is available for everyone to use and is very handy to have, especially on a busy weekend like at Easter. The good news is that we now have planning permission for another loo and shower block which will double the capacity for the customers who are using the tentfield part of the site (plus we'll have laundry facilities for the first) - fingers crossed, all will be in place for the 2023 season. Paul

Lovely stay can't fault at all. Around the corner from a lovely pub on the left hand side. We had a Chinese delivery delivered to the gate, amazing! Locals did recommended the Chinese in Crook and not the local one. Peaceful next to river. adult site I would say.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our motorhome and had a lovely stay. The owner Paul was very helpful and welcoming. The toilet and shower block was clean but only one shower each for male and female with quite a lot of pitches so can get very busy. Also a little inconvenient that you have to pay 20p for 3 mins in the shower but apart from these little niggles we had a fantastic stay and conveniently located for visiting Lake Windermere.
Site's response
Thank you for the review and recommendation Paul, it is very much appreciated. There is another shower and toilet block at Little Acre which you perhaps didn't see. At one stage, the showers were free, but we had multiple instances of people pressing the "free shower" button repeatedly, which either a) drained the 300lt tank of all of its hot water or b) emptied the 47kg propane gas tank - both of which meant that the hot showers weren't available for anyone else to use again. At the same time that we reintroduced the very modest 20p for 3min charge (a price that hasn't changed for over a decade), we also introduced complimentary luxury shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, hand cream, cotton wool pads, cotton buds and nail files. We make a specific mention on our bookings site and and our email confirmations that the showers are 20p for 3 mins. Your timing for visiting Lake Windermere was spot on, as visiting over the Easter BH Weekend would be a LOT busier. Hopefully we'll be able to host you again in 2023 when our new, additional shower, loo and laundry block will be completed. Paul

A fantastic place to stay. The facilities are outstanding, very clean to a high standard. Owners are very helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble for them if you have any questions. The site is a good base to stop if touring lakes or little towns and villages, it is central to many places to visit. Would definitely visit again.

Little Acre Holiday park is perfect for your countryside get away, with it been located in the middle of the Yorkshire dales and the Lake District. A short drive from the site and you truly are in some of the most beautiful locations this country has to offer. The site its self is very well kept, all the facilities are kept at a very high standard and a pleasure to use. The owner (although I can't remember his name) is a very helpful and friendly gentlemen and will assist you on your stay should you need any help or information on the surrounding areas. We as a family of five with three young children were made to feel very welcome and we will be definitely returning in the near future.

Little Acre is well maintained and attractive, conveniently situated close to the M6, the A65 and the good local pub. There are a variety of pitches, mostly flat, some gently sloping. The hook-ups are 16amps and they work well. There are two small amenity blocks which are kept spotlessly clean, as is the chemical emptying point. The grounds are immaculate. Paul is an excellent host, very welcoming and helpful. FYI, there is no motorhome service point (we don't tend to use them anyway so it wasn't a problem. ) WIFI is free and the signal is good. I would recommend Little Acre as an ideal site to stop off overnight and break up long journey, or for a longer stay it's well situated for exploring both Morecambe Bay and the Lake District.
