About Cuckoo Farm Campsite

If you're looking for a peaceful farm escape that the children will love, look no further. Set along the pretty River Chatter, this site offers a back to nature camping and glamping experience fit for all of the family with a collection of cute animals to meet and plenty of space to play or unwind by the fire pit. Set against a backdrop of rolling countryside, this working organic farm offers not just fresh produce to buy but also a grassy meadow for tents and campervans, as well as 19 electric hook up points. Or, if you don't wish to hammer in the tent pegs, opt for one of the lotus belle tents for a bit of extra luxury on your holiday. The tent is fully furnished with a wood burning stove, a double bed, a single futon and a z bed. Outside is a camp kitchen, picnic bench and a fire pit. Run by camping-obsessed Roland and Rebecca, the farm is home to sheep, pigs, turkeys, chickens and a herd of deer. Guests are encouraged to join tours of the farm, where they can meet and feed the animals. There's also plenty of space for kids to play, and a river for paddling, or simply sit back and listen to the soothing sounds of nature. Given the site's proximity to a Site of Special Scientific Interest, you'll also spot kingfishers, cuckoos, buzzards, kites and falcons in the sky above. So, have your binoculars handy! If you want to venture out of the site, you can cycle into Ketton, visit the historic town of Stamford or spend the day at Rutland Water Reservoir and Nature Reserve. Your canine companions are welcome to join you onsite for a small extra charge. Please note that dogs must be tattooed or microchipped and kept on a lead at all times. Campfires and BBQs are permitted in raised fire pits only. Fuel and logs must be purchased onsite, there are also fire pits available to hire. The site is also next to a train line so there may be some noise from the tracks.

Cuckoo Farm Campsite is open from 28/03 to 28/09.

A note from the site themselves...

After travelling around Southern Africa in our trusty, but not too reliable Land Rover, we returned to London knowing that we wanted to do something new. Office work and London just wasn't for us anymore. Two moves and two kids later we found ourselves in beautiful Rutland on Granny and Grandads farm.

With a field nestled next to the river and surrounded by nature and animals we knew we had the right spot. A place to create/share a little of what we loved - a campsite for families, friends, and couples, a laid-back atmosphere where the simple pleasures of gathering around a campfire and enjoying good food together could be realised and memories made.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesSep 2024

This was hands down one of, if not, our favourite campsite of the year. They give you clear and easy directions to reach the site, and once you're there everything is clearly signposted. The facilities were in fantastic condition and spotlessly clean. Even though we stayed at the end of the season, the farm shop still had a wonderful selection of fresh and frozen meats, as well as plenty of other items you may have needed. The staff were incredibly friendly and were great to chat with, we can't wait to come back next year for another stay!

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

We had an idyllic fellowship with your goats and sheep just over the fence. We need to remember the chocks to stop us rolling down the hill in bed. But the best was the industrial dish washer!
