Nip to Burnham Market and mosey around its popular shops - not forgetting the Pentney House hat shop where you can try on some stylish head gear. Fakenham Racecourse is also a great place for a day out and its cinema and bowling alley will keep everyone smiling if it rains.

In the local village of South Creake you can bring your rod for a day's fishin'. Hire a bike and explore Norfolk's lovely countryside on two wheels or get into sailing at Brancaster - if you can pull yourself away from the golden sands of Brancaster Beach.

Take a trip on the iconic Norfolk Broads and try life at a slower pace - who knows what wildlife you'll spot? Meanwhile, you can visit elegant spots like Blickling Hall, Holkham Hall and Felbrigg Hall whenever you fancy, but the best time would be in summer when you've a chance of catching concerts and fairs.

For a right royal good time, Sandringham House has an extraordinary estate and hosts interesting exhibitions.
