Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)Jul 2024

We only stayed for one night since it was just a stop along the way. We were sad to leave though. Lovely campsite surrounded by nature, super friendly, facilities were spotless. We had our dog with us and there's a large dog exercising field which was really nice. We'll definitely be going back.

Site's response

Thanks Kiany for taking the time to review us, see you soon, kind regards Wayne & Team.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field)Jul 2024

Very lovely campsite. We had a large tent on the top field with electric hook-up. My only criticism was the field where you pitched, the ground was not totally flat, slight slope. Wasn't too much of a problem and we just got on with it, was just careful when we put things on the table. Toilets, showers, pot wash immaculate for the first 5 days and then the weekenders arrived. Not cleaning out showers, not flushing toilets and leaving toothpaste and soap all over the sinks. Obviously, this was not the site's fault and they did their best to keep things clean. Would definitely recommend this site but would probably go Sunday to Thursday and leave Friday morning. All in all, had a good time and would visit again.

Site's response

Thanks Deborah for reviewing us, pleased you had a great time. Sorry about the niggles but as you say, you still enjoyed yourselves. Kind regards, Wayne & Team.

Had a lovely weekend stay at Bank House Farm. Lovely people who run it, and lovely clean modern facilities. Added bonus of a wood fired pizza van that visited on the Saturday night. We will be back soon.

Thanks for reviewing us Martin, see you soon, kind regards Wayne & Team.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)Jul 2024

Outstanding staff and very good facilities, mixed feelings about location. I really want to recommend this location, the staff were outstanding. There are some things that would stop me referring it though. "Riverside" location - it absolutely is riverside, but not for 95% of campers. The dog field - not available during our stay, I was told it would be ready the next day, but there was a huge hole in it. It's a little thing, and I understand work needs to happen, but there was no warning of this and I was hoping to be able to let my dogs off the lead like they advertise. The road. I know this isn't in the control of the camp owners but the road noise was unfortunately really bad for us. Quad bikes at 4 am, car traffic at 7am. The tractors were the least disruptive. For total transparency, our rent was roughly 10m from a 60mph road. It was really loud.

Site's response

Hi Sam, thanks for your review, unfortunately we had no prior notice of our builders coming in and digging the hole for our new Sceptic Tank, we had no option but to close the area off as we certainly did not want any children or dogs falling down the hole. It was open 2 days later. The road is not a 60mph road but a 30mph road. We are a Riverside location with 70% of our pitches being able to pitch on the Riverside. Kind regards Wayne & Team.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches (Awnings Permitted)Jul 2024

Location in a review is subjective, this site location suited our needs to explore. The site is well kept, clean and quiet. The toilet and shower blocks were some of the best I've used, very clean and well serviced. Check in was easy. The small reception had a selection of essentials, should you forget something. They stock a fair selection of gas cylinders including Camping Gaz. The pot washing facilities were very good with plenty of sinks and hot water. There are a couple of fridge freezers and coin operated washing machines and dryers. There is WiFi available too. Over the road just outside the gates there is a nice pub serving food and a great selection of drinks.

Site's response

Many thanks Frank for your review.

This was our first visit to the site but be assured it will not be our last. The campsite was immaculate and the grass around the site was wonderfully cut. All in all a wonderful experience, we are definitely booking again.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field)Jun 2024

This campsite offers excellent value to campers with very generous pitch sizes, accompanied by excellent facilities (clean bathrooms, dedicated washing area etc) and a fully stocked shop on site with both necessities and luxuries. Some pitches are located right next to the country roads, which can be loud at all hours, but this is to be expected and didn't ruin our experience. Site is only a small drive from local trails and hikes, and isn't too far away from nearby villages.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)Jun 2024

This is a very well-run site by excellent wardens. It is clean and very well-maintained. It has all the facilities you would expect on a 'good' site, but nothing exceptional given the quality of many sites nowadays. There is also a good range of (tent) camping options. My only criticism is that at £40 a night for one person on a hard-standing pitch with EHU it is the most expensive site I have ever stayed on. Friday and Saturday nights were busy and the site coped very well. The pizza van on Saturday was a welcome bonus, as was the bus stop right outside the gate.

Good caravan site

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches With GrassJun 2024

Good site, excellent staff & location, immaculate showers/toilets. Only a couple of negatives, in our opinion, to be addressed. We were on pitch 21. On Friday night, there were two big dogs running around on the field next to our van, came through our canopy/ wind break knocking everything over. Surely dogs must be on a lead for the safety of children as well? Only other negative is Wi-Fi signal is pretty poor. This is a great site in a lovely location it's no way a negative review, but thought it was worth a mention.

Site's response

Hi Michael, many thanks for your lovely review. I'm really sorry that dogs came charging through your pitch. You're absolutely right, dogs are supposed to be on leads at all times and this is stated in our terms and we tell people to please keep dogs on leads. Our Wi-Fi can become weaker on a weekend when we have a full site, as everyone seems to be logging in at the same time. Look forward to welcoming you back at some point. Kind regards, Wayne & Team.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field)Jun 2024

Really great stay here in the lower Peak District. The view from the top field was great, watching the sunset with a log on the fire a good way to spend an evening when weather is favourable. Bit windy up there but the view was the best on site. Multiple fields to pitch in, hard standing pitches for campervans and motorhomes. Facilities are central to the site, well stocked shop, clean and washing area. Rubbish disposal was hard to find and couldn't find recycling options only general waste but didn't ask for help to be honest. Value for money, pizza on site some days but a local pub with some good options literally across the road (don't order the Thai Curry though, other options and breakfast good though). Good walk along the cycle route to a cool cave (4m away).

Site's response

Hi Rob, thanks for a great review, pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. All our rubbish is sorted and zero to landfill as per Peak Waste Recycling's policy, who collect all our rubbish. When you arrive, we hand each guest an information booklet with important information regarding the site, this includes rubbish disposal. Look forward to welcoming you back sometime. Regards, Wayne and the Team.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)Jun 2024

They wouldn't allow us to pitch near the toilets, with 2 in our group that had disability needs. I for one found the walk from the field up the hill to the facilities hard.

Site's response

Hi Steven, 5he lead booker booked your group of 5 bikers. We informed them that you will be over in the Meadow Field where we have no facilities and you'll need to walk back over to the main site to use them, which is a 5 minute walk. Unfortunately, when you arrived and asked to be moved over to the main site, we were unable to accommodate your request as the campsite was fully booked. We are sorry for any inconvenience that it caused you. Kind regards, Wayne.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches (No Awnings)May 2024

We booked a last minute weekend away in May half-term with our 2 (6 & 14) boys. Spotlessly clean site in a beautiful location with plenty of walks and bike rides in close proximity. Was very busy when we were there but there was a lovely atmosphere across the whole site. Facilities were spot on and staff/owners very helpful. We tried the pizza van on the Saturday night which was delicious, sat next to the river. We will absolutely be returning in the near future, hopefully this time for a little while longer! Would highly recommend!

Site's response

Thank you so much for your lovely review it is very much appreciated. We look forward to your next visit with us.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field)May 2024

Staff friendly, camp very clean, tidy & kept on top of. Good location for walks etc. Unfortunately, the pitches we had booked at the top were flooded so we were told we had been upgraded to premium pitch. Whilst it was a secluded corner plot, there were some downsides to this. The river at the bottom was lovely but did restrict the children being able to play with balls as several went in and were irretrievable and meant we were further from the children's area. We were also right next to the road and entrance to the campsite and the local pub which could be quite noisy, and did affect sleep at times.

Site's response

Hi Evangelia, pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Sorry Toll Corner was not what you expected, hopefully next time, our top field wont be waterlogged and you can camp up there. It's a tough year with all this rain to keep our grass pitches in tip top condition. Kind regards, Wayne and the Team.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)May 2024

Lovely campsite. Very clean. Great toilet block, showers and pot wash area. Beautiful surroundings and a nice pub next door. We stayed in the meadow field which is across the road from the toilets etc. The site would be improved if there were a couple of toilets in this field as it was a bit far in the middle of the night! Also, l couldn't find any recycling facility. On the whole though, a great campsite and good value for money.

Site's response

Thank you very much for your kind review, Emily. All recycling is done at Peak Waste after collection from us. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards, The Bank House Team.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Meadow Field)May 2024

We aren't experienced campers at all, but we were made to feel very welcome and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower block was spotless and warm. The pub across the road an added bonus and the pitches by the river were very nice and very well maintained. The pizza on the Saturday night was excellent and the Manifold way was really lovely for walkers or cyclists. The mill tea room was very good with beautiful cakes. Would definitely recommend this campsite. Not far from Bakewell and Chatworth house and gardens, beautiful.

Site's response

Many thanks for your lovely review Christine, it's always good to hear what campers enjoy and do, we all try our best to make every guest welcome and we'll look forward to welcoming you back at some point. Kind regards, Wayne & the Team

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Great location right next to a lovely pub and a bus stop right outside to Buxton or Ashbourne. Facilities were great. All immaculately clean. Handy on site shop, laundry and use of freezers. The on site managers were helpful and friendly. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Beautiful setting.

We stayed at bank house farm in April and what a lovely site, spotless facilities, friendly staff (Wayne and Ian) and great pitches right next to the river. Perfectly situated for weekend of walking, close to Luds Church and great for exploring cute villages and towns like Buxton. Site is great for couples and families including your fur babies. First time booking through campsites.co.uk, found it very simple and will be using again in the future.

Site's response

Many thanks for your informative review Shaun, always great to know campers had a great time, we all give 100% to make Bank House the great place to make memories, relax and come back to at some point. Kind regards Wayne & Team

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches (No Awnings)Mar 2024

Beautiful site, helpful staff. Very clean and tidy, and quiet site. Only negative is how far you have to go for chemical toilet disposal - A lot of steps, so not ideal

Site's response

Hi Sarah, thanks for your lovely review. The chemical waste is located near the facilities as this is the only suitable place .We can't have it at the bottom of the site as we have the River Manifold running through the site. We are in the Peak Park, so we're not flat, it's only a few steps (5). Regards, Wayne and Team.
