Large Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

As a group of novice campers hoping to enjoy the English summer and we were not disappointed with Bincombe. Perching over Weymouth and Portland (about 10-15min away), the location is easily accessible. The bathrooms and showers are clean (the hot water was decent strong!), and other facilities (e.g. washup areas) are great. The vibe was also awesome and relaxed - with performances in the evenings, food truck service (e.g. pizza), well-stocked bar, and helpful staff. Highly recommend for anyone considering a camping trip in the Dorset area!

Really great location, had fantastic weather so a good bonus. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were good. Added bonus of live music and reasonably priced drinks at the bar.

Take your four legged friend for a walk along the South West Coast Path or head to Weymouth Beach.

Open fires are allowed in raised fire pits. BBQs are welcome provided they are kept raised off the ground, so as not to damage the grass, and well supervised.

The cafe onsite serves a delicious range of sweet treats, snacks and drinks, plus the site's own pop up bar and restaurant is open to guests during peak weekends, serving locally sourced produce. There is also a small shop here stocking the basics, and the nearest pub, The Old Ship Inn, is just over a mile away from the site.

Take a trip with the family to Lodmoor Country Park (4 miles), where you'll spot aquatic creatures at the Sealife Centre, bump into each other on the dodgems, and see an abundance of wildlife at the nature reserve - little ones can also enjoy a ride aboard the mini train. Or spend your days ambling along the stunning Dorset coastline, with a number of beaches nearby the site including Weymouth (4.5 miles) where you'll also find a variety of cafes, restaurants and more lining the promenade. During summer, enjoy your Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings with several local musicians performing in the onsite marquee.

The area has everything you need to keep all age groups occupied. For young families, there is the Lodmoor Country Park - which has the Sealife Centre, bumper cars, Sandworld, an outdoor gym, a mini land train, and a wildlife and nature reserve with miles of walking trails.

Alternatively there is the Bowleaze Coveway with Fantasy Island Amusement park with rides.

By day go for a ramble along the coast, or head to one of the numerous local beaches. Weymouth bay is renowned for its gorgeous sandy, safe, and clean beach which is perfect for young families. With cafes, bars and restaurants all along the promenade, there are plenty of places to eat and drink too.

Want to find somewhere more secluded? There are many other beaches all a stone's throw away, or drive slightly out of town to head to some of the quieter and off grid coastal treasures.

Cycling is a big sport in the area, and there are many hills and routes to tackle, including the ironman Weymouth route. Windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding are also easily accessible at the nearby beach.

Walking or hiking is popular, and the coastline all around is spectacular - head around Portland for some of the most interesting views. If you fancy a tipple, there's a lovely country pub less than a mile away from the site, and shops less than a mile in the other direction.
