Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

Was an okay site, but we only booked here over some others as it advertised as having a park. Unfortunately it was closed. The field we camped in was close to a fairly busy road which wasn't ideal for our aged kids, was also a fair walk to the wash facilities. Football pitch was cool but unfortunately shared with dogs and owners that didn't pick up the mess. On the whole a nice site, but wouldn't recommend for a family with young children until the park re-opens. Most of the staff were helpful and friendly.

Nice place that we could book at the last minute

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We stayed at this campsite (2 adults, 3 small children) for 5 nights (20th-25th August 2024). To start, this campsite is very clean. There is no litter, the shower block is very clean and cleaned often. The dishwashing area very clean. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. We arrived on a very windy day and the staff were beyond helpful, a man who worked there offered to help set the tent up whilst I entertained my children. Initially, when I searched for a campsite, I selected certain criteria's, children's entertainment, swimming pool, clubhouse and restaurant and this came up. I felt that this campsite shouldn't have came up. There was a terrible storm which completely ripped the roof off the restaurant/clubhouse, so that was closed and out of bounds. Attached to the side of that restaurant was a children's play area, which was also out of bounds and damaged. Food wise, there is a food van that comes on a Monday and Wednesday and serves fish and chips, and pizza, and will admit was really nice and reasonably priced. To compensate for the clubhouse, they have put up a marquee which functions as a running bar and evening entertainment, this is good for adults but really nothing to do for children. There is no swimming pool, although we were told that this is in current planning process to be built. There is one shower/toilet/dishwashing block, and unfortunately for us, as we were in a tent and not a touring caravan, this meant a fair walk for us and with 3 young children it was not ideal. We drove there most times, which was easier with children. However, to drive there it means you have to leave the exit barrier and return back in the entrance barrier, an unnecessary trip. Although the reception has a small selection of things you can buy, this closes at 5pm and the nearest shop is down the road at another holiday park. This is open until 10pm. It is a 1 minute drive, so was not that bad but again, not ideal. This campsite is more suited to the lovely lodges they have. I think this could be a lovely holiday park once the new restaurant/swimming pool are built, which we were told is a multimillion investment starting soon.
