Set in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, this 5 star, dog friendly park is both enticingly close to beaches along the coastline and the charm of Robin Hood's Bay. A set of excellent hardstandings are available all year round at Middlewood Farm, or you can camp on grass pitches, and glamp in the cosy warmth of a pod with heating, lighting and plenty of other creature comforts.

Camping Pod - Camping Pods (Dog Friendly)May 2024

Nice site well located for a 30m min walk through farmland and a glen to Robin Hood's Bay. Or 45 mins via roads and footpaths. Facilities were clean and well maintained (given the wet weather). An on site shop would be a bonus, but we really should have planned ahead. Pod was minimalist but suitable and the matress/pad was comfortable.

Site's response

Thank you for your 5 star review. We do not have a shop on site as this would put the local shop (5mins walk) into the village, out of business! We like to support local businesses.

VW-Type Campervan - Medium Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Very nice site and well maintained. We stayed on the back field, which became very flooded during heavy rain. Owners offered a refund and were very helpful. Very good location, with nice views. We will be back during the better weather.

Site's response

Thank you for your kind review.

Large Tent - Large Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Nice well thought out site with roads to each pitch, only fall-back was toilets were closer to caravans and motorhomes who have facilities in their vehicles, should have the tents closer.

Site's response

Thank you for your review. The toilets are where they are due to planning conditions.

Small Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Family Field)May 2024

Due to rain, the site was waterlogged. Drainage very poor, nearest water point was disconnected, next nearest was flooded. I would stay again but it needs to have been a very dry spell prior and no rain forecast for the stay. This site is rated 5 star but I felt I have been on better for less.

Site's response

I am sorry that it rained before and on your stay with us. As you may know, I do not control the weather! Maybe next time you might like to try our Glamping Pods. PS. Fields do not drain instantly, even tarmac is wet when it is raining!

VW-Type Campervan - Medium Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Campervan & we were told we'd been moved onto hard-standing (not available when we booked) when we arrived, which was great as there had been a lot of rain. 10 min walk to Robin Hood's Bay through the fields or 15/20 mins via the road (with footpath). 5 min walk from the Cinder Track (disused railway line) to Whitby or Ravenscar. Lovely circular walks to Boggle Hole YHA & café, for example, and on to the Cleveland Way. Had a great weekend.

Site's response

FANTASTIC. I am pleased that you enjoyed yourselves so much. We hope to see you again.

Recommend but be prepared for very quick showering

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field)May 2024

This is a good site, especially as it is right on the old railway line walk. I really did not like the 5 limit on the showers, 2 mins to warm up 3 mins showering. I thought showers like that had gone from campsites 20 years ago.

Brilliant campsite. Very accommodating as we were late onto site due to van trouble. Good size site with well attended facilities. Great for dogs (must be kept on lead around site). Plenty of walks...the cinder track disused railway ran alongside the site, which you can take all the way to Whitby (7 mls north) or Scarborough (14 mls south). 5 mins walk on the path opposite the site went straight into Robin Hood's Bay and the beach, which joined onto the Cleveland Way. Would absolutely recommend and we will be staying again for sure.

Site's response

Thank you so much for your BRILLIANT 5 star review. It is most appreciated. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Camping Pod - Camping Pods (Dog Friendly)May 2024

Perfect sized for either a couple or two people. Enough space with a fridge and microwave, to be fair, felt the microwave was slight overkill but if staying for longer, could be useful. Village shop stocks the basics, plus some homemade products, and the pub serves some cracking food, portions are massive! Will recommend to all.

Site's response

Thank you for your 5 star review on our pods. We hope to see you again.

Camping Pod - Camping Pods (Dog Friendly)Apr 2024

We managed to book this pod last minute for the goth/ steampunk weekend in April. The location was spot on, less than 15 mins from central Whitby. It was easy to find and we were greeted by a helpful lady at reception who explained which was our pod and basic rules of the campsite. On arrival at the pod, it was clean but basic, cosy and it soon warmed up after putting the heater on for 10 mins. The facility block was spotlessly clean also. Was warm and dry with shower cubicles, toilets, sinks and hairdryers if needed. On making the bed up, it was bigger than a king-size and plenty of room. We weren't so lucky with the weather and heavy rainfall all night but lovely and cosy in the pod. Also good how you can park your car right outside the pod, which was helpful in the miserable weather for us to load the car back up. We would definitely recommend to others and is an ideal spot when visiting Whitby again with us having a dog.

Thank you so much for such an amazing 5 star review. We do appreciate it.

Motorhome - Extra Large Electric Touring Hardstanding PitchesApr 2024

After arriving at the site down a tight back road and over a Ford (Google maps is not always right) I checked in and had wonderful service from the gentleman (maybe owner) in reception. Got set up and looked around the site. Shower block was very clean and warm, given the unseasonably cold weather. Walked down to Robin Hood's Bay in the evening to look at the sea. It was a hard climb back up from someone who lives in the Fens! Had a peaceful nights sleep too, which is a major plus for me.

Site's response

Thank you for your 5 star review. I hope you remember the advised route to us next time!

Motorhome - Electric Touring Hardstanding Pitches (Main Field)Apr 2024

What a fantastic site in a superb location. The showers were lovely and warm and there are hangers for your towel and clothes so they stayed dry. A lovely 6-mile walk along the cliff tops to Whitby, or you can go on the cinder path. Pubs in Robin Hood's Bay had a good selection of drinks and there was a lovely butcher and pub just 1/2 mile away. The pub The Flying Dale Inn does super food and big portions. Loads more to explore, so definitely going back.

What an amazing 5-star review. Thank you so much. We do appreciate it.

VW-Type Campervan - Small Electric Touring Hardstanding PitchesApr 2024

From check-in to departure, everything was great. The washing up area, toiletries and showers are clean and tidy. Our pitch size was perfect for 2, but I would likely get a bigger size if there were more of us. From the campsite, there are loads of walks and Robin Hood's Bay is only a short walk away. Whitby is a short drive or a 13-mile round trip walk, but what a fantastic coastline walk it was. Great value for money.

Site's response

Thank you for your fantastic 5 star review. We do appreciate it.

The grass pitches were all waterlogged, so the offer of a hard standing was accepted. Suitable protection under the awning prevented any damage. Great access to Robin Hood's Bay. Bring your wellies.

The site is well positioned with accurate information on walking times to Robin Hood's Bay etc. The shower block, whilst clean, was on the cold side. You also have to undress then start the shower which is on a 5 min timer. Fair play to save water but let's keep everyone warm.

Thank you for your review.
