Rodney Stoke Caravan and Camping Park provides a peaceful adult only base for exploring Somerset, ten minutes from Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves. Grass and hardstanding pitches welcome tents and tourers alike, each with an electric hook up. Within a 20 minute walk of a farm shop and pubs, there is plenty to discover on foot too. Dogs are also welcome, with plenty of nearby walking routes to enjoy!

The site was clean and tidy, with small hardstanding pitches. The facilities are spotless clean and nice and warm. The only drawback is the coin machine is outside the cubicle. Be sure you're not going to be in the middle of washing your hair and running out of time, then having to nip out to put in more money. The lights are also on a 10 minute timer which went out while dressing. This is not a complaint and would not stop us visiting again. The owner was very helpful and quick to answer the phone on arrival.

I had a lovely time. I needed space and relaxation which is exactly what I got. There is no WiFi which I did not check before I booked. Would recommend to anyone wanting to chill out, lots of lovely local attractions and strawberries to die for.
Nice, peaceful, adults only campsite

Nice adults only campsite. The pub next to the site is closed at the moment but signs of it being modernised. Showers cost 20 pence for ten minutes.
Poor reception

Poor reception. No staff, difficult to reach by telephone and felt customer unfriendly. Despite paying in advance, we had to spend the first night in the parking lot. At around 5pm, I tried in vain to make contact (by telephone and email). We had telephone contact upon arrival around 7pm, but we were told that because we arrived after 6pm, we had to spend the night in the parking lot. The parking lot was a mess and bins for the campsite were full of green waste. The next day, we moved to the campsite and looked for a spot ourselves because the manager was nowhere to be found. We understood from others that they had arrived at the campsite after 6pm after the manager had given them the gate code by telephone. After two more nights, we left without the manager making himself known to us.

Peaceful, clean and tidy. Not a huge site but still equipped enough. Easy walking distance between Wookey and Cheddar. Nice level pitches plus some hardstanding for campers and vans. Beautiful location.

Nice quiet site for adults only - good sized pitches and modern shower facilities. Shame the pub next to the site is closed.

They have a awkward pad lock on the field gate. All dogs must be on a lead but a dog did a big mess 2ft from my van at 6am and I think it was the staff's dog. Pub not open at the moment. Shoes not to be worn in the loos. Only 3 miles from Cheddar. TV and phone signal poor. Sorry, but it's a 6 out of 10 from me.

Arrival at site is through a disused pub car park - very untidy and not really good for first impressions. Pitches looked unkempt with piles of recently cut hedge trimmings left to rot around the site. We were pitched opposite what was an obvious semi-permanent stay with unsightly wire mesh fencing around - large red gas bottles outside the unit are a no-no for us. Shower facilities were an extra charge which, considering the price for a night's stay in this site, was not warranted. There was signage asking dogs to be kept on a short leash but this obviously didn't apply to the site warden, whose dog was allowed to run round freely - at one point doing their business on our pitch. Felt like one rule for us - another for them! Most of the other guests were campervanners. Nothing against them, except when they allow large dogs to continuously bark, spoiling the quiet nature of the site - which was perhaps its only redeeming feature. We haven't visited this area before and will return to explore further in future - but will be looking at using other sites nearby. Will definitely give this one a miss we're afraid. Although we tagged as 'budget' we feel it is very overpriced for the facilities and ambient environment.

Didn't feel the sign for the campsite was visible enough! Went past and had to then turn around! Upon arrival I was 'greeted' by someone, who wasn't very friendly and they never introduced themselves. They asked my name, gave me a sheet of paper with lots of rules on, a code for the gate and left us to our own devices! First impressions really weren't good! I feel the site is very unloved and definitely needs a lot of TLC. Although the toilets and the showers were clean and quite nice, the rest of the site lets it down. Was very disappointed that there is no recycling on the site, everything just goes in the same bin! There are lots of signs around telling you 'what not to do' it's very off putting. I wouldn't recommend.

We loved our stay at Rodney Stoke Caravan park! Facilities were super clean and seemed brand new! The plot we had was great near the bushes - it was like we had the whole site to ourselves! There is a nice country side walk to Draycott that's accessible from the camp site, which has a lovely village shop around 30 mins away.
