Cotswolds Camping at Holycombe has been welcoming guests for over a decade. This quiet campsite is made up of 'wild' pitches - so camp where you like! You can have the sunset, sunrise, a spot by the water or a secluded space with a campfire. You'll also have heated glamping which is ideal year round, such as a stylish 1960s Airstream, yurts, a gypsy caravan and cabin. Catering only to older children and adults, the site has a true retreat feel.

Lovely little spot! Entrance is slightly secluded - when you turn off the main road you need to do another turn instantly to enter the campsite. Lots of spacious camping areas for tents and grassy areas between camping spots allowed for privacy. Very close to a path through Whichford Woods. Facilities were clean and easy to find. Surprisingly , the church bells did not disturb our sleep that much, but if you are a light sleeper then earplugs are advised.
Very pleasant campsite, with great facilities

Really nicely setup campsite. It's largely guest run, and had great facilities with plenty of signs informing guests on how to do things. We particularly enjoyed the freedom of using the fire pit we had on our pitch, and the option to buy logs on site and put our money in the honesty box was a great feature. Also just a 10-minute walk to the local pub, and a short drive to various Cotswold hiking routes.

We had a lovely weekend stay here in August. Luckily, we arrived early evening and managed to get a spot big enough for our campervan, as almost every pitch was occupied by 8pm. The site is very quiet and doesn't allow any sort of music, which we initially didn't realise, but were quickly told so! This does make it very peaceful and we slept very well as a result. Having said this, the pitches are not crammed but are quite close together, so you will definitely hear your neighbours, especially if you are sleeping in a tent. The showers are hot and have a very good pressure, but probably could do with some updating soon, as the shower blocks are getting a little tatty. The rest of the facilities were clean and there was plenty of hand wash available to use. The compost loos were always topped up with wood shavings and loo rolls, and there's a flush toilet too for those who prefer. I would definitely return for another visit as its not far from work for us and the surrounding villages are very picturesque. It is worth visiting the nearby Straw Kitchen cafe for lunch (just a 10 min walk away!)

John met us on the gate as we arrived and explained what we needed to do. All you could ever need on site. So clean and great dog walk. You can hire fire pits for a £5. Loved our overnight sleepover on way to Dorset. Very clean and very well maintained. Beautiful views.

A little tricky to find, but wow, what a find indeed. Beautiful site and has a very calm and relaxing aura 😎 Everywhere I looked was outstanding natural beauty 👌 Trying to survive cancer, and this place is a place I would 100% recommend. Nature at its best - wild flowers, posh long grass and wildlife heard in the background. Good facilities.

Lovely campsite, especially the second morning with the sun out, and birds and church bells providing the soundtrack to accompany breakfast. Has everything you need, just be prepared for rustic log cabins in the woods for showers and toilets, and wash basins outside, but all clean and adds to the charm.

Historic campsite that could do with a little TLC. Nice little campsite set on the old site of a Norman castle (the moat is still there) very rustic and quiet which was lovely and felt like we were in a meadow. Nice and close to the Norman Knight pub (8 mins walk) and nice to have fire pits on site as well as a firewood honesty box. However, I feel that the site could do with a little TLC, the toilets and showers have seen better days and all the signage was overgrown so spent a lot of time to get your bearings. Also, a little more communication from anyone would have been helpful as there were no instructions which pitches where which, where anything was etc.
Site's response
Thanks for your review. We do have arrival instructions which should have been sent out and our apologies if they were not. When you book direct with us they are sent automatically but due to the way campsites is setup their booking confirmation email cannot be edited to include our own information. Pitches are wild, no allocation only that if you have not booked electric hook-up please don't go on a pitch with hook-up. We are in the process of getting new signs professionally printed and they will be going up on the site as soon as we receive them. I do agree the signage is lacking at the minute and is something we are addressing as quickly as possible, for the moment I will print and laminate a few here to make things clearer whilst we await the arrival of the new ones. We did give everything a refurb over the winter, pressure washing the compost loos and a deep clean of showers, loos and new paint everywhere, I do agree the outsides could do with a revamp but it is very much one thing at a time here! We are a small completely family run business so it is down to me and my brother for any renovation work and we have had our work cut out the past few months with new pathways, refurbing bell tent bases, strimming around the place etc etc! But do appreciate the feedback and know it is something we are looking to achieve in the future.

Stayed here for 2 nights with our rooftent. We loved the surroundings - very green and the Norman Knights nearby. Also appreciated the water cooker. However, we book small campsites so that we can meet the owner(s) and that didn’t happen unfortunately. Maybe better luck next time!

Whilst outwardly basic, this site is quiet and enjoys pleasant views across a small valley. There is a moat which is pleasant, and a gentle roughness to the feel of the place. There is washing up, a flushing loo and 2 good compost loos. There are also showers. You can buy logs and there are braziers to borrow for this purpose. We loved it, and you can access a microwave as well. The Norman Knight pub is some 500m into the village, and whilst not very welcoming, it is pleasant and has a nice outdoor area with views across the village green. A great little site.

Really lovely place. My stay in "Gypsy Carmen" was magical I've been singing "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves' since arriving. Peaceful and quiet, which is what I wanted, with each accommodation well spaced for privacy. Everything clearly signposted and the info folder in the caravan was really helpful. Facilities were excellent, with everything you could possibly need already provided. Looking forward to returning in the summer when the on-site coffee shop will be open. Hosts were friendly, helpful and always at the end of the telephone for the couple of queries I had. I didn't receive arrival info or Wi-Fi password as expected but a quick phone call both times had the issue quickly resolved. Looking forward to returning and I have my eye on 'Yami Yurt' next!

Very helpful staff member who is unobtrusive, friendly and approachable. He can recommend walks, local events and places to eat and offered to help if needed with putting up / taking down tents. An attractive and well laid out site that is just the right size to not overwhelm the facilities with easy pitch access and reasonable space between pitches. Kitchen, toilets and showers are cleaned regularly. The water pressure in the shower is really good. There is an apple and pear orchard with hammocks which is nice but pitch further away if you’re allergic to wasps. Dark skies depend on cloud cover and whilst there is some light pollution from nearby towns it doesn’t prevent a good starry view. Metal braziers are available for free as is firewood at £5 a bag.

Facilities are excellent whilst still preserving so much natural beauty. Everyone was so kind - especially Swampy who as always around to offer help to those who struggled with making a fire. Would definitely go again.

Swampy gave a great welcome and gave helpful advice. We loved the compost loos. A lovely little site with its own ducklings to entertain. Weather wasn't great for our stay, so more hardstanding would be awesome, as I was worried all weekend about getting stuck in the mud in my Campervan. The surrounding area is beautiful and I would definitely come back again - the alternative camping (airstream, yurt and gypsy caravan) also gave the site a lovely quirky feel.
