Hexham Racecourse Caravan and Camping Park is just two miles south of Hexham and centrally located for trips to the Solway and beautiful Northumbrian Coast. It's a modest drive from the Northumberland National Park and even closer to the North Pennines AONB. Join the walk along Hadrian's Wall with its many forts, explore the national park or stargaze at Battlesteads Dark Sky Observatory.
About Hexham Racecourse Camping and Caravan Park
Set on one of Britain's most scenic racecourses, this site is south facing with magnificent views of the Northumbrian countryside. Ideal for those wanting peace, tranquillity and just to get away from it all, it's centrally situated as a base to explore from, or an ideal stopover point on your journey to the east coast ports. Hexham and its magnificent abbey, founded way back in 674AD, is a short stroll away. Camping and touring is on 40 grass pitches, the majority of which are equipped with electric. Dogs welcome provided they are kept on a lead and a maximum of two per pitch. Seasonal pitches are also available for long term stays.
The touring site is open from 1st April until after the second race meeting in October, usually held on the second Saturday of October.

Things to do on site and in the Hexham area
Fancy a day at the races? Pop by and pick up an admission ticket for a day soaking up the atmosphere and great views, before refuelling at the tasty Pavilion Restaurant.
Hexham is a great place for a wander, with a very impressive abbey and the Old Gaol Museum - so you can see how the wrong-doers of the past lived out their days. See a show at Queen's Hall before getting some retail therapy in Hexham's independent shops.
If you'd like to stretch your legs further, the history and beauty of Hadrian's Wall is a great choice and Hexham is a popular stopping point along its route.
A drive of around 20 minutes will put you at the start of the Northumberland National Park - and it's crammed with great activities. Walk, cycle, stargaze either on site or at the Kielder Dark Sky Observatory and drive to Kielder Water within less than an hour to try some water sports.
