About KMF Camping

Escape the crowds and enjoy a rural getaway at this small, eco campsite. Within a 15 minute drive of Northumberland National Park, the site benefits from little light pollution meaning glorious dark skies for stargazing. You can even start the day with a delicious breakfast at The Running Fox Bakery Café, just a five minute walk away! There are six non electric pitches available for tents only. Each measures a minimum of 6m x 12m and allows up to six people, with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy some peace and quiet. If you want to leave the tent pegs at home but still have a back to basics experience, opt for one of the ready tents. Pick between a tipi style tent and a traditional tent with a sleeping pod, each sleeping up to four. Both tents come unfurnished so you will still need to bring along all of your camping gear, beds and bedding. If you are seeking more of a romantic stay, Jean shepherd's hut is perfect for a cosy stay for two. Inside is fully furnished with a queen size bed, bedding, linen, a wood burner, two USB ports powered by a leisure battery, a radio and a table and chairs. For your cooking needs, there is a kitchenette with a sink, kettle, portable gas hob, crockery, cooking equipment and a welcome hamper! Outside you will also be provided with a BBQ, fire pit and a table and chairs for al fresco dining. Shared eco facilities can be found nearby, and guests will need to bring their own towels or hire them from the site. Campers are also welcome to bring along their own BBQ, just please ensure they are raised from the ground. Fire pits are available to hire too with logs to purchase, perfect for toasting marshmallows under a starry sky. For keen walkers, the St Oswalds Way runs very close by and the site will even collect and drop you off for free from the nearest location. The popular Northumberland 250 route is just a stone's throw away too! The site is pet free. But, be sure to say hello to the resident alpacas and sheep! Please note, this site is with The Greener Camping Club and at least one of your party must be a member. Membership costs £12 for the year and can be bought upon booking, giving you access to all membership sites.

Pitches and ready tents are open from April to September. The shepherds hut is available all year.

A note from the site themselves...

We are a very small off-grid eco campsite located in the heart of Northumberland. We are committed to sustainable camping and have implemented various eco-friendly practices, such as recycling facilities and composting toilets, including our popular "loo with a view!"

It has always been our vision to have an accessible campsite as we believe camping is for everyone to make fantastic memories together and we are proud to have achieved this.

Our stunning location is easily reached but surrounds you in a haven of wildlife including the elusive red squirrel and you will be greeted by our gorgeous resident alpacas! What's not to love? We look forward to welcoming you to stay, Paul and Gillian

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We can't rate this campsite highly enough. Paul and Gillian were great hosts. Paul went above and beyond to make our time fun. The facilities are exceptional and we really loved the eco focus of this campsite. The pitches are well spaced and it felt like we were remote. We were given wheelbarrows to transport equipment and also got the firepits with logs. Overall, a really good campsite and deserves high rating.

Site's response

Hi Luke. It was lovely to meet you both and you were great guests. Glad you had a good time and hope to see you again. :)
