Situated just a short stroll from the cliff path which takes you to Watergate Bay, The View has the wonderful feel of a small and cosy camp site. Surrounded by fields and the vast expanse of ocean, there is a peaceful feeling of space.
About The View at Watergate Bay
Families, couples and dogs are all guaranteed a friendly welcome at The View at Watergate Bay. The small and tranquil camp site is set in a stunning location on the north coast of Cornwall, looking out over the vast expanse of Atlantic Ocean and along the beautiful, rugged coastline towards Newquay. Views from the site really are amazing. If you want a well looked after campsite with sizeable, level grass pitches and nice, clean facilities that is very close to one of the best beaches in Cornwall, look no further. Watergate Bay is a fabulous holiday destination if you like all things beachy! There are two miles of dog friendly sand, as well as rock pools and caves to explore, and some decent breakers coming in off the Atlantic, great for kids young and old! The large and standard size grass pitches have electric hook ups and are suitable for tents, trailer tents, caravans with awnings, camper vans, motorhomes and RVs. There are also smaller non-electric, grass pitches, suitable for smaller tents and camper vans. Even during peak times, due to the size and shape of the site (as well as the generous size of the pitches), you will never feel like you're packed in like sardines. Being surrounded by fields and the ocean, there's a wonderful feeling of space all around you. A really nice atmosphere fills the air too - you feel safe and that everyone is looking out for each other. During quieter times, a list of unavailable pitches is displayed so that you can rock up and choose whichever available pitch takes your fancy. They'll catch up with you during reception opening hours to get you booked in. The manager, Mark is very hands on and he will usually be found either in reception, cooking in the cafe, cutting the grass or engaged in other camp site activities. He lives in the house just next door, so is always on stand-by if needed! There are no barriers or gates, so early or late arrivals really aren't a problem - just have consideration for your neighbours and the site rules.

Mawgan Porth is in a quiet sandy bay two miles north of the site (a do-able 45 minute walk made slightly challenging by some ups and downs along the cliff path). The Times newspaper listed Mawgan Porth in the top ten holiday beaches stating that "there are better-known and busier beaches in Cornwall, but few can match the raw beauty of Mawgan Porth, on the north coast near Newquay. Shielded on both sides by cliffs, it has acres of soft white sand, rock pools, caves and magical sunsets."
