About Preseli Glamping

If you are wanting to get back to nature or enjoy adventures and relaxing with loved ones, this could be the ideal site. Nestled on a hillside, the site enjoys picturesque views over the neighbouring countryside and wooded valley, all the way out to sea. A beautifully landscaped rolling meadow is home to 14 spacious tent pitches, each private with its own picnic table, fire pit and cooking grill. Each pitch welcomes up to six guests, bordered with either wildflowers, ancient woodland or saplings, wonderful for wildlife spotting. There are also two private hardstanding and grass campervan pitches, located just below the car park, each has its own picnic table and fire pit and wonderful views down to the coast. The family-friendly, car-free meadow offers a chance to fully immerse yourself in the natural world reconnecting with nature, far from the buzz of everyday life. It is a quiet, restorative sanctuary, rich in wildlife and a huge diversity of indigenous plants due to a successful rewilding project which has provided an abundance of habitats. For those who like a touch more luxury, the geodesic dome has been tucked away in a clearing of tall twisting trees at the foot of the valley. The dome sleeps up to four, equipped with a double bed, a single bed and a sofa bed, along with a wood-fired stove for those cooler nights. There is electricity in the dome for lighting and charging your devices! Outside you will find sun loungers, a fire pit and a separate fire bowl with a grill for cooking, so don't forget to bring your BBQ ingredients. You also have a picnic bench, great for al fresco dining. The highlight of this magical campsite is the 20 minute walk through the National Trust Woodland to Abermawr, an expansive secluded sand and shingle beach which is perfect for swimming, body boarding, rock pooling, sunset bonfires and more. Here you can also join the Pembrokeshire Coast Path which winds along the rugged coastline. You can charge your devices and connect to free WiFi at the hub. Here you will also find a huge and beautifully presented interactive map of Pembrokeshire which makes it easy to plan your day and book local experiences online. There is lots of information available in the Info shed, with maps of local walks, places to visit, where to eat out and where to find local food stores. If you don't feel like cooking every night, take a short walk to the village of Mathry and enjoy a hearty meal in the local pub. Tregwynt Woollen Mill is also just a short walk from the campsite and offers delicious breakfasts, lunches and afternoon tea (as well as wonderful Welsh Wool interiors and clothes). Bucket lists at the ready! For adventurous folk, there is endless opportunity for outdoor activities in the local area including coasteering, sea kayaking, surfing, SUP boarding, kiteboarding, horse riding, climbing and mountain biking (can be booked onsite). Four-legged friends are also welcome to join you for your stay, with up to two dogs allowed per pitch and in the geodesic dome.

Preseli Glamping is open from 01/05 to 29/09 in 2024 and from 01/05 to 30/09 in 2025.

A note from the site themselves...

Environmental sustainability is at the heart of our operation. We aim to provide our campers with the opportunity to explore the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park in a very low-impact manner which is why we've made every effort to make their camping experience greener and in harmony with nature.

Back in 2019, we began rewilding the undulating meadow adjacent to our home, planting indigenous trees that are found in the bordering woodland, seamlessly blending this newly reforested land with the wilderness of the valley. We continue to plant new saplings each year as provided by the Greener Camping Club membership.

We landscaped the rolling meadow to encompass the 14 pitches and planted an abundance of bee-friendly wildflower seeds including sunny calendulas, blue cornflowers, dog daisies and red poppies.

It has given us so much pleasure to watch this really special piece of land evolve into a haven for wildlife, with a range of habitats encouraging diversity! To preserve this paradise, we decided to make the field car-free, with cars parked in the car park and large multi-terrain wheelbarrows to transport luggage.

We take a range of measures in our day-to-day operations to reduce our impact, we use eco-cleaning products and toilet paper. We recycle everything possible and compost our food waste.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We were amazed at how spaced out and secluded the pitches were. It was great to have our own picnic bench and fire pit. The toilets were very clean and well kept, as was the campsite on the whole. The staff were friendly and there was lots of helpful information, as well as a charging point for phones in the information shed. The campsite is just a short drive from many lovely beaches, attractions and restaurants. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again. Also, a nice novelty to see the lighthouse shining during the evenings.

Site's response

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2024

Lovely small, quiet and simple campsite. It has the basics that you need. Easy self check in and loved the private camping spots. Only 14 pitches each with their own picnic table and fire pit. Beautiful sunsets and close to St Davids and other sightseeing spots. Fishbourne was not far away to stock up on the basic foods or for fish'n'chips. Enjoyed a walk in the evening to the local beach (only 1 mile away). Would definitely return when we visit the area again.

Site's response

Thank you so much for your lovely review, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us this past week. The sunsets have been glorious! I hope you can join us again soon. Best wishes, the Preseli Glamping Team

You can spot diving peregrines and acrobatic ravens and coughs and seals lazing on the rocky shoreline. Walking north to Strumble Head lighthouse, you may even spot pods of dolphins and porpoise from the clifftop hides.

If you like to go off the beaten track to the rocky tideline, there are some fantastic experienced local providers to take you coasteering. Or perhaps you prefer to see the coastline by sea kayak, taking in the astounding variety of wildlife.
