Hare and Hounds Campsite makes the perfect base for exploring 1066 Country, Camber Sands beach trips and the lovely Sussex coastline. You'll find dog friendly tent and VW sized campervan / motorhome pitches, glamping bell tents and a shepherd's hut. It's walking distance from Rye and a good pub with an excellent bus service too.

A lovely welcome from the owner who runs a very well kept campsite with a high level of cleanliness. Walks from the site into Rye, and a pub offering food just a few mins walk away. Perfect.

Our first visit to this site as it was a return to camping after about 10 years and wanted to try the new tent. A fantastic location with a nice walk into Rye. Will visit again!

A wonderful restful two days away. The campsite is so clean (the showers excellent), organised hosts and a very green lush relaxing setting. Can’t wait to return x

A lovely site. Hot water not always as hot as I’d like but it’s good enough. Very friendly and welcoming. Bus stop very convenient just outside and pub within 7 minutes walking distance.

Very nice little camp, very quiet, very clean and well kept. The hostess Harriette met us upon arrival and gave us lots of good information about the site and local area. Would definitely stay again.

I stayed at H&H for 3 nights. Thoroughly recommended. Charging facilities, very clean utilities, and both owners were so helpful and polite. The security of the site was never in question and fresh water was constant. Bricks were available for barbecues and those starry starry nights were amazing! The distance from the town of Rye (3 miles) would only be a problem for people who are not used to walking, although in saying that, the paths I felt weren't that clear if you did fancy a jaunt to Rye. The town of course is a real beauty and I wish I had longer to enjoy its gifts. But as a base to work or drive from, Hare and Hounds is perfect. Really good value for money. I'd heavily recommend it!

Really peaceful site with hot, clean showers, lots of toilets and the owners/staff really helpful. Pub a 5 minute walk away, a 7 minute drive to the lovely picturesque town of Rye and a 10 minute drive to Camber Sands and Winchelsea beach. Fully recommend.

A really nice two night stay on a friendly campsite with really good facilities. We found having a fridge freezer available to be a real bonus.

This was a very friendly welcoming site, not large, but well equipped with the must have facilities - toilets, showers, washing up area, fire pits etc. Close to a main road which makes access very easy for a motorhome. The location is ideal for visiting places of interest in the area. We enjoyed a trip to Rye which you can reach on foot (50 minutes) across the fields or by bus which stops just outside the campsite. Would definitely stay there again.

Lovely clean and quiet campsite. We left our Campervan on-site all weekend and used our bikes to ride to Rye about 5 miles, then onto Camber sands another 3 miles going through quiet country lanes away from traffic. Rye is less by car but only negative is the busy main road, at night but really wouldn't put us off coming to this campsite again 😁👍

Really enjoyed our stay - as new to camping the bell tent eased us into it nicely and look forward to our next adventure - the owners were excellent and again made our stay very welcoming and comfortable

Wonderful campsite. Amazing facilities, very clean and no queues for the showers in the morning! The bell tent was great, everything in perfect working order. Ice packs were provided and replaced lots of times during our stay. Immediate response to any questions over text. There's a 10pm-8am noise minimum, which was a little hard camping with young kids who are used to waking up at 6am for school. Everyone was very understanding and kind to our little ones, which made us feel a lot more relaxed about it. Overall we had an amazing experience, and would love to stay again once the kids are more grown up. 5 stars.

Very good and very quiet site. Toilets were excellent and always clean, as were the showers. The site was kept clean and tidy at all times. If I had to have a negative it would be that their campsite rules state all dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, but not many were. This didn't worry us at all, but may have an impact on others.
Convenient and easy access to sights, shops and pub

Conveniently located in beautiful countryside settings but too close to the main road, so noise is an issue. Plenty of green space and spacious pitches. The Oaks pub is a 5 minute walk away serving great food and a superstore is 5 minutes drive away with fantastic choice makes self-catering easy. Camping was not full when visited so toilets/showers were ok but if at full capacity I think this might be an issue. Also, from the 4 showers, 2 are really small. Washing up area is clean and spacious. Hosts are friendly and on hand if needed.
Site's response
Thanks for your review. We are near a road that is true, but it is very quiet at night time which I hope you will agree with. We do have 4 showers, 2 are on the smaller side, but they are all hot and free to use and we do keep them clean. Our site was actually full over the weekend you were here- we don't accept anymore people than were on site those days, so the toilets and showers are not put under too much pressure. We don't fill every pitch as we like people to have a choice.

Nice quiet site with some unexpected extras. The grass was a bit long though.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. I absolutely agree it is too long, it rained on the day we were due to cut it then it was too busy on the site to do it over the weekend… and now more rain!

One of our favourite campsites. Harriet and her husband are always so lovely and accommodating. The walk to Rye over the fields on a sunny day is totally idyllic. The road is a very slight drawback, but you tend not to notice it, and all the other benefits far outstrip this minor negative. Highly recommend!
