Hare and Hounds Campsite makes the perfect base for exploring 1066 Country, Camber Sands beach trips and the lovely Sussex coastline. You'll find dog friendly tent and VW sized campervan / motorhome pitches, glamping bell tents and a shepherd's hut. It's walking distance from Rye and a good pub with an excellent bus service too.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesSep 2024

We really enjoyed our time at the campsite which was perfectly located and very clean and organised. We were welcomed on arrival with an explanation of the site and where we could choose to pitch. The site was clean and very organised. As it was near the end of the season, it was fairly quiet, so we had the pick of the electric hook ups. The facilities weren't far away and the washing up area was immaculately clean, as were the showers/toilets. On our first night, we had a quick 5 minute walk to the Oak, the nearest pub, which was great. The next day we had a beautiful 50 minute walk through fields into Rye. A very enjoyable weekend, we couldn't have asked for a better campsite and I'm sure we will return again in the future.

Peaceful site for a break

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

We booked a very last minute stay in the motorhome and cannot fault this place and the host! Immaculate and peaceful site and facilities with the bonus of being able to hire a fire pit and wood on site (worth every penny). The bike ride into Rye was not the easiest as it's hilly but it made the beer and bbq on return even better ;)

We really enjoyed staying at the Hare and Hounds. It's ideal for us, we love the area, there is a bus stop outside which takes you into town, from there you can jump on a train and go further afield with good public transport prices. The Rye town is really nice, very quaint lots of small shops and great places to eat. You also have Hastings nearby which is a great sea-side town. We love this campsite for the pricing, it's convenience, the no music policy at all, & no excessive alcohol consumption. We're at that age where we go for the peace and quiet. The facilities are spotlessly clean and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We will be returning!

The best site on our travels around the South East

Touring the Cinque Castle Coast of Kent & East Sussex found the Hare & Hounds to be excellent. Spotlessly clean, friendly, helpful suggestions and relaxed advice from Harriet with thoughtful hand drawn map of how to walk into Hythe - just an example of the detail and forethought which has been put into the campsite - experience gained over 12 years of running it. Can only recommend.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

A choice of spacious pitches were offered on arrival. Site had clean facilities & wash up area, use of fridge/freezer and microwave handy. A bit of road noise from time to time but to be expected as main road into Rye, pretty quiet at night though. Shower cubicles a bit snug but not too much of an issue. Overall, good value for money.

Well signed from the road. A lovely flat pitch. Excellent, clean and well set-up amenities. No noise from the busy road. Very helpful lady, possibly the owner. A very quiet and enjoyable stay, would have been happy to stay longer.

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2024

We had a wonderful stay at the Hare and Hounds. The location was great, a beautiful cross-country walk into Rye and a bus stop right outside meant that everywhere was very accessible. The site is well-spaced out making it the perfect place to relax. The facilities were clean and well maintained. It had a quaint, family-run feel. The owners were friendly and helpful. We couldn't have wished for better. We'll definitely be back!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2024

Very happy with campsite and facilities - easy to locate, a lot of thought had gone into the site, with some nice touches - information pebbles. Pitches well set out, plenty of space, yet proximate to facilities. a gentle mix of accommodation to suit different 'campers'. A welcoming and informative host who explained about the campsite; provided a mapped walk to Rye town centre, (although we drove and parked near the sports fields) apparently buses are hourly / two hourly, timetable available. Only stayed two nights with our own agenda, so did not engage in all the opportunities available on the campsite or immediate area (eg pub within walking distance): next time we visit.

Peaceful and relaxing

Lovely site. Very clean and nice little extras (mobile phone charging, microwave, fridge/freezer). Grass pitches were great and pretty much flat. Toilets and showers nice and clean - showers are quite small though. Overall, a good comfy relaxed stay.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesJun 2024

The site was not overcrowded, seemed plenty of space between vehicles & tents. The facilities were super clean, showers a bit cosy but did the job perfectly. The washing up area was ideal. Being just off a main road, there is some traffic noise but the benefits to that are there are bus stops directly outside to take you to or from Rye & Rye Harbour. Β£2 per person each way. The cab from Rye Station back to the site was Β£8.50. For our needs, it was perfect & will definitely be back.

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesMay 2024

Just had a couple of days here & would definitely recommend. Facilities are good & kept clean, owners are friendly & helpful. Very easy access, no tight country lanes! Easy to find. Although roadside, not much traffic noise. Beautiful setting, within a few minutes drive or decent walk from Rye. Pubs & restaurants within easy reach, plus cheap petrol at Jempsons in Peasmarsh (1 to 2 miles away). Well situated for Rye (well worth a visit) & south coast towns. Hoping to stay here again.
