Birchwood Camping is a small, back-to-nature site set in a 6.5-acre wildflower meadow that is a haven for wildlife and set in a Dark Skies area for starry nights! The pitches welcome tents or campervans, with fire pits provided for each. The quarry pitches are set next to a stream, perfect for cooling off on a hot summer's day! For a bit of luxe, the bell tent which is set on decking sleeps four and has an adjacent BBQ area.

A beautiful, truly quiet location, far from the crowds. No road noise, no flight path, just the chatter of nesting swifts and the chirp of crickets by day, and by night, the hoot of owls, and a great view of the stars in a properly dark sky. The campsite has clean, neat facilities, and the hosts are cheerful, helpful and friendly. With just a handful of pitches, spaced across the site, this is a place to relax, but you can also venture out to explore the undersubscribed, and perhaps under appreciated Herefordshire towns and countryside, with plenty to see within half an hours drive. We found the nearest pub walkable (around 1 hour, some steep hills, a map recommended) with great real ales and traditional, good, pub food. Our camper-conversion was given plenty of room: the two places dedicated for campervans are fairly flat, but don't expect a perfect level. Note that there are no facilities specifically for vans: no electric hook-up, water point or pump-out. If you've an off-grid setup, or you're trialling one, it's perfect. A lovely place, we long to return already.

Idyllic campsite set in a golden meadow with wide open skies! We had a lovely pitch in the meadow which was massive and had lots of privacy from other campers. They're well spaced out with long grass in between for privacy. The quarry pitches were also nice and secluded. The perfect spot for getting away from it all and feeling wild in the countryside. Star gazing at night was a highlight. The owners couldn't do enough for you and they had all the facilities you need on site including a shared fridge freezer. We can't wait to come again!

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the site. Luckily for us, we had the site to ourselves so it was extremely peaceful! We stayed in the meadow field and loved that each spot has its own patch surrounded by long grass. The kids ran free and enjoyed the play area, paddling in the stream and all the games. The shower and toilet for the meadow were fantastic - modern and clean and it was a huge bonus that there is a little kitchen with fridge, kettle and toaster to use. We loved that there were swallows nesting in the toilet and we saw a hedgehog and barn owl at night, which was fabulous. If you're looking for a nature friendly and peaceful campsite, I highly recommend it. I imagine it would be great if you went with a few families together as well with each of you having your own space within the field. The host was kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Ice creams for sale in the freezer was a nice touch! Thanks for having us, it was such a lovely break.

Nestled on a farm in a beautiful little village, this site is ideal for a peaceful break. It's really clean & tidy, with lovely circular pitches mown into an open meadow. Surrounded by farmland & woods, it really is an idyllic location if you want to get away from it all. The facilities of an outdoor kitchen area to wash-up, store a few items in the fridge or boil a kettle are just enough to upgrade you from completely wild camping & each pitch has its own fire pit, with firewood available at a small fee. The toilets & shower are very modern & clean and within easy reach of the meadow. The owners are very welcoming & friendly, and Alison bakes delicious cakes that you can purchase for a little treat. We used a grass pitch but took a little peak in the bell tent & will probably book that next time as it's a little bit of luxury! The location is within a short drive of lots of places - 15 mins to Tenbury or Leominster, 30 mins to Ludlow or just under a hour to Hay-on-Wye. Great base for days out. The description was very accurate & overall, we felt this was good value for money. We'll definitely stay here again.

Beautiful surroundings, the facilities were brand new and so clean. If you are looking for an escape for a few days from the hustle and bustle of life, I would absolutely recommend this site. The owners were so friendly and welcoming too! Highly recommend!! Not only is this campsite perfect for a couples getaway, but also great for children. The location is fully secure and the children have so much open space to run around, play and just be children! Will visit again!
