About Captain's House Campervans

Captain's House Campervans is a charming family-run smallholding located in Bootle, the southern tip of the picturesque Lake District National Park. Guests can spend their days on the beach (direct access from the site), meeting the small flock of Shetland sheep, and experiencing stunning west coast sunsets and clear night skies. The campsite is also an excellent spot for those looking to explore the national park, with Wastwater, England's deepest lake, and Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, only a short 30-minute drive away. There are five hardstanding pitches available for self-contained campervans and motorhomes, all of which have been landscaped to offer partial protection from the coastal winds. Each bay features a 10 amp electric hook-up and access to fresh and cleaning water. Please note that there are no toilet or shower facilities. Campfires are allowed, and dogs are welcome. However, guests should keep in mind that there are grazing sheep on the property, so it's important to keep their dogs on a lead.

Captain's House Campervans is open from 01/07 to 31/12 in 2024 and all year round in 2025.

A note from the site themselves...

We are your hosts, Luke and Sarah Pinney. Our site family run, set on our small holding with a small flock of Shetland sheep.

Our farm dates back all the way back to the early 1800s. It is even rumored to be the birthplace of local hero, Captain Shaw, who served during the Battle of Trafalgar. We hope to welcome you to our little part of the Lake District soon!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Nov 2024

I had a lovely weekend, just what I wanted. Right next to the beach for good long walks. The owners were really nice and friendly, they were helpful too. No pubs or shops nearby, I knew that beforehand and didn't feature in my weekend. I will be back when I next need a quiet weekend.

Great location, very peaceful

Looked for somewhere peaceful and on the beach. Captains House Campervans fitted the bill perfectly. 1 minutes walk to the beach, sea views from all the pitches, surrounded by farmland, sheep and a dairy herd. Hosts very friendly and a fantastic location. Dog loved it on the beach and I loved cooking over my campfire, raised firepit worked great in the sheltered bays.

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding Pitches Aug 2024

We had a great one-night stay here with our campervan. The site is located in a very peaceful location right next to Bootle Beach. The facilities are as described, there are no showers or toilets but that wasn't a problem, as the facilities for water disposal and access to clean water were all next to our camper van. The site manager, Luke, was very attentive. He was always there to help when needed and gave great recommendations for things to do nearby.

Site's response

Thanks Sepideh. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
