Small, friendly campsite. New toilet block was spotlessly clean. We even had the added bonus of the ice cream van visiting. Lovely stay.
Site's response
Thank you, David. The ice cream man is a very welcome visitor to Little Acre, even more so when the sun is shining! Paul.

Good size hardstanding pitches, 2 toilet blocks, one brand new with excellent unisex facilities, the older block was clean and tidy. The ladies' had everything you needed, from shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, to cotton wool balls and a hair dryer. The men's was in process of renovation and hopefully will be open in next couple of weeks. Little Acre is a site I would definitely recommend, ideal for visiting the lakes and surrounding areas. Excellent pub over the road. On arrival we was welcomed by a friendly lad, Tom, the owners son. Paul, the owner, was friendly and chatty too. The site is a credit to them, one of the best we have stayed on in 20 years of caravanning. We will certainly return one day.
Site's response
Hello Kevin. Thank you for your kind words - they're very much appreciated. The complete refurb of the original loo and shower block continues at pace and we're hoping that it'll be completed sooner, rather than later. Then once done, the next step is giving the ladies a complete refurbishment as well - and then we're done! It'll be lovely to host you again and you'll be able to see the improvements, Paul.

Facilities were superb, everywhere looked like new, showers, toilets etc. Nothing too much trouble and the owner just appeared to be here, there and everywhere! Definitely recommend. Excellent site, clean, tidy and pretty perfect!
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us, Gill. During your stay, we were fully booked and at times, I felt that I was here, there and everywhere! Paul.
Nice, but have to pay for showers

We stopped at the site after paying for the night with electric hook up, but we find out you need to pay for the showers at 20 pence for 3 minutes. I feel this should be included in the price like every other campsite we have stopped at this week. Also, this is not on the information when booking, so I would have chosen elsewhere or got lots of 20ps. It takes me at least 20 mins for a shower so this would of cost an extra £4.00 and my husband 60p.
Site's response
Hello Paula, thank you for staying with us. It is unfortunate that failed to read the section of our listing on Campsites.co.uk entitled "facilities and amenities" as you would have seen "Facilities include two heated shower and loo blocks (the showers take 20p's). It's the first sentence and it's very prominent. Similarly, I sent you a confirmation email, which includes "all of the showers have complimentary shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and both of the blocks have hairdryers. The showers at Little Acre cost 20p for 3 mins and the laundry requires £1 coins", part of which is in bold font. So it's been written down for you twice. The information was there for you before booking and repeated to you after booking. I'm not aware of what other sites offer/don't offer, but we do include complimentary luxury shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryers and underfloor heating in our separate, lockable shower wet rooms. Another unrelated positive benefit for every other visitor on the site, is that we don't have people monopolising the shower facilities for (say) 20 mins at a time, which can be incredibly frustrating for everyone else. Enjoy your touring and I hope that you are able to find other sites that fit your criteria. Paul.

Great site, lots of walks around, and right opposite fantastic pub. You can see owners invested in the business, lots of work going on. Looks like new toilet facilities and presume updating the others, but no hassle, the "building" site was clean and well organized. The pitches themselves were excellent with water and electric to hand on hardstanding with well manicured lawns right next to them. Open field for tents looked great as well, a real mix of vans, caravans, tents. It's a small site but not overcrowded, toilets and showers were very swish, yes, you have to pay 20p but worth it.
Site's response
Hello Callum, it was lovely to host you recently and I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with us. We can't wait for the renovations of the "original" toilet block to be completed, then we'll have 2 bang up to date, high quality facility blocks for people to use. We're really fortunate to have a good mix of campervans, motorhomes and caravans on the Holiday Park site as well as tents, rooftents, trailer tents and folding campers on the Camping site (as you saw, I don't overfill my tent field and folk have space to use and enjoy) - between them, it all seems to work well! Enjoy your travels. Paul.

We stayed here for 8 nights. The owner Paul was a superb host, he gave us the basic information about the site and surrounding areas to visit but was always on site if needed. There was some building work going on whilst we were there mainly to upgrade an old toilet block so the shower facilities were limited to 2 showers for the whole site but this didn't create a problem for us. My only negative was when the grass was cut the gardener didn't collect the clippings so they ended up in our caravan and on the floors of the toilets, also he was cutting very close to the pitches which was a concern as we had already had a stone through the side of our previous caravan. All in all we had a great stay despite the weather being mixed we managed to visit the lakes and surrounding towns etc
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and recommending Little Acre on Campsites.co.uk, Julian. We cut the grass every week and the ride-on mower mulches the cutting to absolutely minimise the amount of messy grass that is left on the floor. This works very well when the grass is dry, but not just as well when the grass is wet. Leaving the grass uncut isn't an option as within a fortnight or so, the site would start to look very unkempt. It wasn't a problem leaving the area around your caravan uncut (it gave me a chance to play on the ride-on mower today), as I knew you had previously had a bad experience elsewhere. Enjoy your touring, Paul P.S. currently there is only 1 shower that is not in use, all others are working as normal.

Beautiful little site just minutes away from the motorway so was perfect as a stopover whilst travelling south and we received a very warm welcome. Toilet/shower facilities were lovely, very modern although I thought 2 x showers and 3 toilets for the one area (unisex) was on the low side. Will definitely return as thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and it would be lovely to host you again, Caroline. The new shower, loo, laundry and washing up block has proven to be a great success and is very popular - so popular in fact that people often go past the other shower and loo block that we have onsite (even though its closer to them!), to use the new block. Once we've completed the total refurbishment and modernisation of the other block, it'll be interesting to see which one becomes the most popular one! Paul

During our stay, the site facilities were undergoing renovation so in essence, they were halved. This did not present a problem when the site was not full, but when the campsite is full (during the weekend), it was difficult to access the facilities. If I had been aware of this at the time of booking, I most likely would not have booked our stay. In saying that, the facilities that were available were first class (With the exception of the throne room). The site is superbly located and the owner was really welcoming and friendly. Facilities renovated, I would definitely stay again.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on campsites.co.uk, Stan. The complete modernisation of the gents facilities in one of the blocks continues apace and we're getting ever closer to being back to full shower and loo capacity. We've brough the "throne room" out of retirement whilst the work is being carried out, so in effect all that we've currently missing is a single urinal! I appreciate that the throne room isn't a cutting edge facility, but it's clean, fully stocked and is functional. We'd love to host you again when the gents and ladies facilities in the original facilities block have been totally replaced, refurbished and modernised (it's been a much bigger job that I envisaged when we started) Paul

If you're looking for a quiet site to relax with the best bathroom facilities ever, then this is your site. 2 min walk to hotel for meal and lovely walk along the canal if you have dogs. Paul is lovely and helpful, this place is kept clean and tidy. Lots of care and attention. I saw this site last year when attending a dog competition and I was hoping it was dog friendly and it was, yipee! All dogs were under control and safe, in case children are about. Canal is a lovely place to walk dogs, which is right on your doorstep and everyone was friendly. Cannot thank them enough as its hard to find a place with 4 dogs (all well behaved 😁) The shower and toilet were amazing, I noticed on the wall the award for this, and for me was 5* clean and to be honest, best shower ever. You pay 20p for this, but the best 20p for 3 minutes ever. First time, I just had to stay for another 3 min as it felt like a spa, lol. Between the dog competition, I went and took dogs to beach only 10 min away. Check out the tide times. The beach before Arnside meant I could park and walk dogs in a huge area. Happy, relaxed dogs but not ideal if you have mobility issues. Motorway on your doorstep with garage if needed. Thank you for a stress free stay.

We were there for a break on the road of Scotland. Hard pitches are fine, with water and electricity. Sanitaries were very nice, clean but you have to pay 20p for 3 min of shower. The little road beside is a bit noisy in the morning, but this is a great camping site.

We loved our stay at Little Acre! It was our first stop before travelling up to Scotland, and after staying at many campsites throughout the trip, it was the best and cleanest facilities that we came across. The customer service was brilliant also. We had an in-depth email of the facilities and our pitch prior to arriving and we had a very warm welcome upon arrival. Highly recommend.
