Perfect site for onward trip to Scotland. The toilets and shower were clean. With the canal across the road, really handy for dog walking. Hotel across the road, food was lovely.

Received email in advance with pitch number and straight forward instructions. Site owner came round to welcome us and was extremely friendly and helpful with local information. Facilities were fairly basic but clean and functional. I believe new wash block being built over the winter, as well as an change to the entrance. Site in two halves - higher pitch entrance is through what feels to be owner's front garden with an interesting entrance through a hedge. Not really a problem but interesting. Ideal location near to motorway and route into lakes. You can hear road noise but not enough to lose sleep over. Crooklands hotel, with nice bar and food, is just across the road.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review of your stay at Little Acre Howard. Yes, things will definitely change for 2023 with all vehicles accessing Little Acre via the main entrance - this will give a much more natural traffic flow onsite. We're quite excited about the new shower, loo and laundtry block that is being built this Winter. The existing shower & loo block that is closest to where you were pitched has served us well, but the much larger and modern facility that will be replacing it will be appreciated by all. Paul

A great site for a one night stop off if going to explore the Lake District. Quick to access from M6. Facilities were spotless and well managed. Warden was most friendly and helpful. My pitch was of adequate size but quite sloping, not a big problem as I stayed one night only. Otherwise, pitches were a tad close together. Pub was a short walk away. I would return as it is convenient to M6.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review of your recent stay at Little Acre Eileen. There is one pitch at Little Acre that I market as "Electric Hardstanding Pitch - Slight Slope" - this pitch is discounted and was the pitch that you selected. As you say, it wasn't a problem for your one night stay. I also leave self levelling ramps on that pitch for people to use, which does bring a campervan/motorhome to level. Here's to your next stay with me. Paul

We only stayed 2 nights on our way back to Scotland from a longer stay South, but loved the site and found the man who booked us in very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the ladies toilets were very pleasant, with the fab mirrors and wee extras, cotton wool balls etc 💕
Site's response
I'm glad that your mini break on the Scotland trip worked so well for you Tracey. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Paul

What an absolute gem of a place. Just ended our nc500 trip, and a perfect place for a relaxing 2 night stay! We can honestly say it was the best place we found on our 10-day trip! Great walks for the dog and a delicious lunch at the pub 5 mins away! Paul the owner, was very pleasant and helpful. As he said it's "his happy place" and it shows with the hard work he puts into it! Will definitely be back as soon as possible.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review, Dennis. You're 100% correct - it is my "Happy Place" and I love what I do! :). I hope that the rest of your trip goes well. Paul

Excellent location for visiting the Westmorland Show.
Site's response
Thank you Diane. With us being only 1/4 mile from the Westmorland County Showfield and the Showfirld being accessible from the Lancaster Canal towpath that runs parallel to Little Acre, it's an absolute doddle getting to any of the events that are hosted there, plus you don't have to walk along the road. A winner all round! Paul

Paul was very helpful, nothing too much to assist with a problem. The only negative we had was the lack of signal for the TV. A lovely tidy site and clean toilets and showers. Will definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review and recommendation on Campsites.co.uk, Jennifer. The TV reception around our area can be very hit and miss, as we're on the border of 2 transmitters. If it helps your planning for a future visit - the wifi at Little Acre is strong and reliable and most visitors watch TV via a Kindle firestick, or on Freesat which both work really well. Until next time, Paul.
Perfect stay with stunning scenery!

We were welcomed to the site by a very pleasant gentleman who informed us where our pitch was and the location of the available facilities (including the pub down the road). The shower cubicles were a decent size with shampoo, conditioner and body wash in dispensers and cotton buds/balls and mini nail files free to make use of. The showers were 20p for 3 minutes which was enough for a freshen up. The temperature however was more warm than hot but this wasn't an issue for us. The site is beautiful with cows grazing in the surrounding fields and brightly coloured flowers dotted about. We all had a lovely undisturbed sleep and woke up to the sun shining, what more could we ask for! We would highly recommend this site and would definitely stay again.
Site's response
I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre went so well Jade and that you enjoyed yourself so much. Thank you for recommending us on Campsites.co.uk and I look forward to hosting you again. Paul P.S. I'll go and double check the thermometer that I use for checking the shower temperature - it's been showing at 41deg C all season so far.

Fantastic little site, just off junction 36. Really easy to get to, but just far enough away to feel like a real break. The site was scrupulously clean and well looked after, and the owners were lovely and friendly. If you're outdoorsy and sporty, the site is perfect for nearby cycling, running and is in easy reach of the lakes. There is somewhere close for paddle boarding too. We loved it, we'd love to go back!! Thank you.

I'm glad that you all enjoyed your stay at Little Acre, Anne. Thank you for the 5* rating and recommendation and yes, we'd love you to come back. Paul & Sarah

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it, so we definitely weren't going to pass it and not stay again this year while travelling from Cairnryan to Wales. It's such handy access from the motorway, though when you're onsite you wouldn't believe it's so close. It's easy to access the Lakes from here. The facilties are great, would highly recommend. We definitely look forward too returning on our next overseas adventure.

Owners are fabulous, very friendly and helpful with the area and places to go. Site is kept immaculate. Only criticism is there is only one toilet in the mens and one shower per block. Although it's a small site, it could do with at least 2 as there were queues to use the shower. Also, it cost 20p for 3 mins, which is strange when no one carries cash anymore and they're not warm. The site is right on the canal for walks, but comes to a dead end either side. There are kayaks to hire 5 mins away but can only go so far down the canal and you have to turn back. The pub over the road is lovely, but expensive. You also need to book in advance as it's popular.
Site's response
I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay at Little Acre over the BH weekend, Collette - our busiest time of the year when we were at 100% capacity. Yes, additional showers and loos would be ideal at the busiest times of the year and with the planning permission that we have just received, will be in place for 2023. The showers will continue to be 20p for 3 mins, as this ensures that there is always plenty of hot water available (when they were free, we had repeated issues of people leaving the showers running and draining all the hot water.) If you're on foot and going towards Kendal, the canal towpath runs for 2 and a half miles, then the canal runs dry. From this point, what was the towpath becomes a public footpath that you can walk onwards towards Kedal, a further 5 and a half miles away. Alternatively, if you go on foot towards Lancaster on the towpath, the canal runs for 1/3 mile, then walk around the bridge and pick up the towpath again which will take you to Lancaster and beyond- maybe somewhere to explore another time! Paul
