This was our first trip in our new motorhome. Having never had one before we thought we would try Little Acre as it seemed to have everything we would need to get the hang of things etc. We were very happy with the site and our first foray into the motorhoming experience was perfect. We didn't use the shower block but had a look at it and it was absolutely lovely, warm, spotlessly clean and it had big rooms. Fixed hairdryer by the double sinks in the main hallway and 2 wall sockets for your own hairdryer or electrical gadgets. It had 2 shower cubicles, one with a pull-down seat under the shower if needed. 20p for 3 mins. 3 toilets with a hand wash basin. Our pitch was surrounded by grass but the main parking area was gravel. Nice and level. Electric hook-up point at the head of the pitch plus hose with water access. Plenty of communal bins and recycling bins. Clear signposts to showers, toilets, Elsan point, laundry room, washing up room and rubbish bins. The latter is far enough from most pitches, so it won't be a bother in the warmer weather with flies etc, but a short enough distance to easily walk to. There's a great pub just a short walk across the road. We ate there the first night (booking recommended) and the food was lovely with lots of choice and reasonably priced. Little Acre is near the side of a canal which would be a great walk when the ground isn't so muddy. We took a walk along a path that made a short loop around the campsite, approx 2k. This was a really lovely stay. We will definitely return to Little Acre.

Well kept and tidy site, perfect for visiting the lakes. Facilities were very clean and modern. Thoughtful little extras in the laundry, washing up and shower facilities. We only did 2 nights but will definitely be returning in the spring.

Lovely little campsite with very friendly owners. The showers and toilets were amazing, very clean and warm. Being so close to the motorway, you can hear some noise but it's not too loud, I would definitely stay there again. The canal is very close to the site. You can walk for miles, absolutely beautiful. There is a gorgeous pub just a few mins walk away. If you plan to eat there, I recommend you book. We didn't book so we couldn't eat there unfortunately.

Fantastic site and a shower block like no other in my 30 years of caravanning and camping, these take some beating. Forgot your soap? Don't worry, you have hair, body and conditioner on tap. It's hats off to the owner. A fabulous site, we will be back.

Amazing little site. Owners are lovely and happy to help. The showers and toilets are outstanding and beautifully clean, the 20p for showers didn't bother us at all. There is a canal path facing the site and, most importantly, a pub across the road. A washer/dryer available too. Would definitely come back again so a big thank you to all of you for making such a lovely, peaceful, clean site. Well done.

Located just a few minutes from M6 J36, this high quality site is ideal to explore the South Lakes or as a convenient stopover for onward journeys. The hard standings are level, spaced and well serviced. There are two toilet and shower blocks, both very modern and kept super clean. Upon arrival, we were made very welcome. Just a short walk from the site is the Crooklands hotel, which offers sensibly priced high quality food and well kept real ale - please just be careful crossing the main road as the traffic is fast and the visibility not great, especially when dark. A short drive away is the village of Milnthorpe which has many amenities including some excellent cafes. Overall an excellent, well managed site. Recommended.

Nice welcome on arrival. Shown to pitch. Only a small camp but all the facilities were spotlessly clean. Brand new shower and toilet block with launderette and washing up area. 20p for the best three minute shower I've ever had. 3 minutes was easily enough time.

I'm glad that your stay at Little Acre worked out so well for you, Ste. Paul & Sarah.

Communication prior to the stay was great. During the stay when I had a question the response was extremely quick and helpful. The shower block we used was super clean and very warm. The only criticism was the 20p per 3 minute shower. It seems a bit strange in addition to the cost for the pitch. The site is situated on the 567 bus route from Kendal to Kirkby Lonsdale and we were able to visit both places. The local pub/restaurant was a two-minute walk away and was worth a visit (book in advance). The canal towpath is next to the site and provided a lovely and easy walk. We would return and enjoyed our stay.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us and we'd love to host you again, Carole. The showers have been 20p for 3 mins for an awful long time, but for a while, the showers became free. Sadly, we had multiple instances of people repeatedly pushing the hot water button until either a) the hot water ran out or b) (even worse) the 47kg gas cylinder was emptied. With a) the showers were unusable for 45 mins until the hot water was replenished, with b) the showers weren't usable until the following day when the expensive gas cylinder could be replenished - both scenarios were incredibly annoying for customers and me alike! When we reintroduced the 20p for 3 mins, we also added complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, heated and illuminated mirrors and hairdryers - plus, the showers have never run out of hot water again! Paul

Stayed for 3 nights. Fairly quiet site with a brand new shower block at one end and a rather old one at the other, but nice and warm. Stayed on pitch 13 but found it very tight on space and was next to 2 large vans and towing vehicles who were together. They had several visitors over the weekend with various people staying over, so felt that there was no security at all. Would have preferred to be on the far field which was quieter.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us at Little Acre and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Brenda. I'm sorry that you stay wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been and that was down to me taking a booking for 2 x caravans on pitches that I normally put campervans/motorhomes on. If there had been campervans/motorhomes on those pitches, pitch #13 would have felt as "open" as all other pitches do and your stay with us would have felt different. I hope that you do come back and stay with me on another occasion and that I can "make things right" for you. Paul.
