FAQ

You can indeed enter Chatsworth House and wander around its elegant rooms and collections. Although around 100 of its rooms are closed to the public, around 25 are available for tours and viewings, which offer plenty to see.

The house has an impressive filming history including Pride and Prejudice (which was a film in 2005 and TV series in 1995), The Duchess (2008) and The Wolfman (2009), plus a number of TV dramas by the BBC and others.

Dogs on leads are allowed in Chatsworth House's garden and park, but only assistance dogs can enter the house, farmyard and adventure playground. There are convenient posts for dogs to be tied to outside the farmyard and game larder (intended for brief periods only) and places where dogs can get a drink of water outside the toilets. Choose a dog friendly campsite nearby.

A visit of around an hour and a half allows you to see the whole visitor route inside the house, but you may want to allow extra time for walking in the garden, seeing the water features and getting to know the outdoor areas.

The extensive estate includes an awardwinning farm shop, the Carriage House Café which is family friendly and uses local ingredients, the Cavendish restaurant and several gift shops. The Flying Childers is also available to book for luxury afternoon teas.
